What's the advantage of cam-less operation?
that's incredible how this simple looking thing being made by this fvcking technologicaly hard way, like the spring appeared many many years ago and im sure that this machine was made far latter.
But: zero human actions required, consistent quality, and hundreds produced per hour. The result is a spring that costs little more than its raw materials + transport costs. That's the wonderful thing about modern manufacturing!
Perhaps someone can answer this, if the wire does not return back after being formed, (no spring action) then how does it act as a spring in use? Are the parts heat treated later?
i don't think springs are usually under tension when being manufactured, they are only compressed / tensioned when they are installed in the product

That's extremely interesting. It's amazing how much engineering goes into making a simple spring
And thats why they justify charging you $40 for that single spring. Cause the machine cost them 400k.
