    Great tool, thanks. I there any way to bevel the edge actually cutting the cookie. I find the flat edge squishes the dough rather than cutting it properly. The bevel should face outward to cut better imo. Some designs use a narrower "wall" layers for the cutting edge. I suppose this is another option one could utilize.

      Unfortunately there’s no bevel option but you can make the walls thinner to cut better

    The original file must have changed to the heart shape many people are commenting on. Additionally, I cannot get this to work to save my life. No matter what SVG I try to use (on multiple machine, MacOS and iOS), I get the error "Shape generator failed to build. Node fails to load." These are SVG from the web, that I've built, that work with other generators, but not this generator or remixes of this generator. Grr.

      The more complicated the SVG the less likely it will work. Also make sure it is on the smaller size. It will work quicker and not affect quality. What type of shape are you trying to generate?

    Hi @diyslaps, Thank you so much for the tutorial! ^_^ I am having some trouble with this, you see the file I am using is an outline and it also has 1 smaller element within which is solid. When I put it into the generator it almost looks like it would either press or cut my cookie twice! meaning I would only have a cookie outline instead of a whole cookie?! Any chance you could help me fix it or point me in the right direction please? :3

    I'm just a humble amateur helping my wife with her sugar cookie home business. I've been using this shape generator for a few months now. It's ALMOST perfect. However there are a couple things I struggle with that are hindering it from creating more usable cookie cutters. Width of Cutter Blade - it's simply too thick. It says .5mm but when you export the STL and import into Cura slicer it's more like 2mm. Most cookie cutters I've seen on the market step the thickness of the blade from about 2mm to 1mm finally ending at .5mm to give an actual blade. That may be asking too much but being able to just set it to actually be .5mm would be a huge improvement. With the blade at 2mm you end up smashing the dough more than actually cutting it. Cutter Size - What does this number even mean? It's not millimeters or inches. I end up using the measuring tool and playing around with this arbitrary number until it's kind of close. Then I have to tweak the size in Cura slicer anyway. Is there some way to make it intuitive? Would you be willing to make these enhancements? Alternatively, is there anyway I could get access to the JavaScript for this generator to make some enhancements? What do you think? Thanks!

    This did not work for me. I created a simple dog bone shape using illustrator and exported it to svg. It won't load. Its under 1mb, its grouped and united as 1 single shape before saving as an svg but nothing. Shape generator fails to build. I noticed it was created 3 years ago so maybe needs to be updated? The shape on the generator also shows as a heart.

    • @diyslaps
      @diyslaps ปีที่แล้ว

      You can replace the heart with your image. Make sure the entire dog bone is black. I found a dog bone image on svgrepo and it worked fine.

    • @xoxoang
      @xoxoang ปีที่แล้ว

      @@diyslaps In other words the bone has to be filled vs it being an outline? I wanted to use mine as it's custom to my logo. I was able to just create 2 separate svg files with 2 different offsets, and then combine them in tinkercad to make the cutter so thats ok. But I will try it out for another cutter and see if it works. Thanks for replying!

    • @diyslaps
      @diyslaps ปีที่แล้ว

      @@xoxoang It works for both filled and outlined images but it just matters on the creation of the SVG. Some have enough points on them to generate a cutter while others may not have enough. Using the duplicate command you can quickly make a cookie cutter from any image. I'll make another video on it soon.

      Leaving port 80 open is COMPLETELY FINE, even if you are not a networking expert. If this were not the case, every website on the internet would be vulnerable. As long as you are using a modern web server and it is up to date, you won't run into any issues hosting a basic website. If you are concerned about security, I'd recommend installing fail2ban to protect your server.
