In this follow up videos, I take apart this HF brand air locker and look at the internal components to determine if the gears are machined or cast. Take a look for yourselves and let me know what you think

Just purchased an HF 4x4 brand air locker for a Jeep dana 30. There is not a lot of information out there on these, so i wanted to do an unboxing video to show what comes with this kit. Model # for locker is RD100, air compressor ckma12

    You are a brave man! My Jeep wanders so bad 45 feels scary.

      Hahah that's no good. To be fair all the time rod ends are newer and the Ross steering box is still pretty tight. I daily drive this jeep, so I'm fairly used to its quirks. However I have a Dana 30 swap planned for the near future and during that time I'm going to power steering with the "modern" crossover steering linkage.

    Hi Nick how are ya ? Happy Easter. I have a 1969 Jeep cj5 same color v6. When I found your TH-cam channel I was very happy to see the cool stuff you’ve done for your Jeep. Are you in California? I’m up in pioneer Ca. On you other video where show the sniper set up, using the 3 bolts on the balancer that was how ya got it to idle right and see the rpm. That’s awesome! I was thinking of doing a sniper set up. I look forward to seeing the Dana 30 swap. Have a great day God bless you and your family.

      Happy Easter. I'm no longer living in California, I'm up in Oregon now. Pioneer is a neat area, I spent a lot of time in West Point and then a little further south in Arnold and Bear valley. Yes, I used the three bolts evenly spaced in the harmonic balancer to get an even tach signal. That in conjunction with the Holley crank trigger allowed for a more consistent idle. Glad you are enjoying my content. I hope to consistently get some videos out this year. I'm planning to do a bit more in depth walk around of the jeep in the coming weeks.

      I purchased them off Alibaba. The company is wenling haifeng. I highly recommend doing your own research on these companies, however I spent 3 months doing research and couldn't find any negative feedback about this manufacturer. And they are very common in Asia and Eastern Europe.

      Any more follow up videos coming?

      @wellsr44 definitely, we installed one into my father in-laws jeep. He's been loving it. And no issues at all in regards to the operation of it. We did end up going with an ARB seal housing and master shims, but all arb components are compatible with these lockers.

    Hi Nick was wondering about the rpm signal you use with your sniper set up. I wanted to ask on the videos but there was an advertisement where the comments are . Thanks for sharing I want to put a sniper on my Jeep. Planning a sm465 swap this summer. Thanks again.

      Hi, I used a Holley crank trigger part #554-124. I then made my own housing for it that also acted as a block off plate for the original fuel pump. And I used 3 bolts spaced 120* apart on the harmonic balancer as the triggers in order to read an even rpm signal. Ill attach my build thread which has a few better pictures. www.oldwillysforum.com/forum/index.php?threads/early-cj5-build-update.26639/

      @@nicholasreed319 oh thank you so much I’ve been looking at to see if it would work. Your Jeep is the same color mine was, I hope to restore to factory color. Your engine runs so smooth for an odd fire!

      @@heyyoubuddy6749 Thank you, its been a fun ride to get it to this point. I also plan to repaint mine. Also you'll love the sm465 4 speed. I went with the 420 to get the lowest first gear. I am running 3.73 diffs so I wanted the lowest crawl ratio I could get without losing highway drivability.

    Awesome jeep, love the color. Did you put on the soft top yourself? I am thinking of getting one.

    • @nicholasreed319
      @nicholasreed319 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes I installed the soft top myself. They are pretty simple to install. It takes a couple of hours to do the initial install then only about 15-20 minutes after that since all the hardware stays attached.
