Hello, and welcome to my channel! I'm a Street Fighter player that started playing Street Fighter 4 casually in 2012, then started playing fighting games seriously in 2016, with the launch of Street Fighter 5. I wouldn't call myself a 'pro', but I consider myself competent enough to give advice on how to play fighting games.
I initially started making videos covering V-Trigger setups for Ed in Street Fighter 5, then started making highlight-based 'Edventures' videos: as of this moment, my focus is on creating more informative (but still entertaining) fighting game-related videos, namely A Beginner's Guide to Street Fighter and Fighting Games Explained. As I type this, the Ryu & Luke guide has been uploaded and I have 5 more guides in mind for you all. Stay tuned for more content!

As always, no hard feelings to any of the players who appear in this video. It's been almost 2 years since the last Edventures video and I don't know if I'll ever make another one, so this may just be the Edventures finale. If this is the last one, then I'm happy with how this turned out. I had numerous ideas for this video over the past year or so, and it's kinda nutty to see them all together...
Fighting Games Explained - Do You Need Fast Reflexes To Be Good at Fighting Games?
มุมมอง 7K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A video that examines the importance of having fast reflexes & reaction times in fighting games. It feels good to finally have another video finished, it makes me feel less like a one-trick pony. Hopefully I can produce more than 1 video this year! Follow me on Twitter for updates on videos and to boost my ego: Hydro_236 Music Used (in order): - Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact - Nile...

No hard feelings to any of the players who appear in this video. I was hoping to have this out for Christmas Day but that didn’t end up happening; thankfully, I still got it done before January, which was my goal all along. Merry (late) Christmas everybody and thank you for getting me to 300 subscribers! Thanks to diizlerza for the electric effect during the Ed VS Urien bit: www.videezy.com/abs...

No hard feelings towards any of the players who appear in this video. First of all, thank you for getting me to 100 subscribers on TH-cam and almost 30 followers on Twitter! It may not be a lot, but it means a lot to me that so many people enjoy my content this much. This may be the last Edventures that comes out for a while, as the next month or so is gonna be pretty busy and I won’t be able t...
SF5 Edventures 2: EX Boogaloo
มุมมอง 3.4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
No hard feelings towards any of the players shown in this video. After the great response that the first Edventures video got and after receiving several requests for more, I give you Edventures 2: EX Boogaloo, a sequel 50% longer than the original and in glorious 1080p HD! Even after finishing it I still have plenty of joke ideas left over, so I could see myself making an Edventures 3, especia...

Street Fighter 5 - Ed V-Trigger 1 Setups (1-3)
มุมมอง 2.6K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video, I go over 3 setups for Ed's 'Psycho Cannon' V-Trigger in Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition. These setups work on the characters listed in the video, at the time of uploading (5th September, 2020). Music used: Leave Alone - Street Fighter 3: New Generation
charge is definitely a notable trait, unlike a motion input it has sweeping effects on the character's playstyle
edventures 6 plz
Nice video ❤ But only one mention of The King of Fighters ? Seriously ?
what about joke characters!
Who is the best all-around character in the Blaze Blue series?
Es or Kokonoe. Imo Kokonoe is more fun.
I'd like to talk about three archetypes that for some reason are often confused, even to the point of believing that they are the same thing despite being very different. Brawlers or Bruisers, Bullies, and Unga Bungas. First we'll go with the easy stuff. An Unga Bunga is the character made to turn off the brain. They are limited when it comes to things like mix ups and 50/50 but because they don't need it. They play by going forward and hitting stupidly and the worst thing is that they beat you like that. They have at least one or two normal hits that are too good and spammable and the more they advance the worse you feel their offense. Ralf is one of the Unga Bunga characters par excellence, for example, that guy goes forward and there is no human power to stop him. A Bully is a character that you feel doesn't let you do anything except curl up and block. That if you do something you will be punished. They often accomplish this with mid-range attacks that are hard (if not impossible) to punish, and each punish they perform pushes you further and further into the corner, until you end up curled up blocking. Sagat is the quintessential Bully character. He zones you and if you try to get past that zone he can easily punish you with his Tiger Kick, his normals have a suitable range to keep you at bay and his ideal moment to attack is on your starter frames of a move. And finally and the most misunderstood, the brawlers. For some reason they are confused with any of the above. Brawlers are defined more by how they play than by their moveset. They are characters with good normals and a tendency to advance forward like an Unga Bunga. But their thing is not to advance blindly. On the contrary, they want to keep the game neutral and poke very often with only small scuffles in between. That is, they look for the trade of blows. Why? Because they don’t care if they risk getting hit or if they get hit, since they’re going to do more damage and therefore win. That’s why they’re called Brawlers, because they make the game a street brawl where the hits go both ways but they’re the ones who come out on top. How they achieve this varies a lot. It can be with really good normals; a moveset that combines armored moves, command grabs and charge moves; etc. But one thing they have in common is that they often have more than decent health and above average normal damage. The best examples that come to mind are Chang from KoF and Balrog from SF. Chang has armor, good normal range, DEMOLISHING damage and a command grab if you have the gust to get really close to him. He doesn’t care if you trade with him, you get in his range and your healthba is the one who’s going to end up really bad. And Balrog, if you land three attacks on that guy, he hits you with a punch and the damage is down the same or more, and if you're not careful he'll land an attack boosted by armor or initial frames of invincibility and you can pray. But none of them have constant pressure of hits or long combos, they base their damage on poking, trading blows and staying neutral in a "You hit and I hit you" state where they will win because they deal more damage. But if they can't stay the neutral, they fucked up because you start to corner them and they have very few tools to recover from that.
might be stupid, cringe, whatever, im not a sweaty nerd, but for me it's all about the big boys, I genuinely laughed when you said that big body characters have big body, but still listed them by name <3 absolute parent instinct, amazing vid :* BIG BOYS 4 LYFE
Hey. I know I'm 3 years late, but Im hoping you can answer a question about puppet characters. In my mind, a puppet character seems like its own archetype since the puppet is the entire gameplan of the character. I also think its hard to justify Zato (as an example) as any of the 5 archetypes in this video. He doesn't zone, he's not a grappler, he's not versatile like an all-round character. I could see someone saying he's rushdown, but even that isnt really true. He can put a lot of pressure on an opponent by double-teaming, but even that I wouldnt call a mixup game like rushdowns do, moreso just frametraps and long technical combos. Is there something im missing in the logic? Would you still classify Zato as a rushdown rather than its own archetype? Are there a wide variety of different strategies that puppet characters use that are too different from the archetypal pupper characters (JoJo's Devo, Zato, Carl Clover, etc) to define it as its own gameplan?
I hate Ryu in SF, it is impossible to loose with him on the hardest difficulty, and impossible to beat him on the easiest. Ryu is a cheat.
Downvoted and didn’t finish for not mentioning mortal kombat
Brad Wong from Dead or Alive is apparently categorized as a trick character due to his drunken style (ex: he can attack while lying down). Does that count as "unorthodox" or "mix-up" as defined by eddventure's video?
Nice video. I think a character that plays around counter attacks like Geese, Hayate and Bayken could be in another archetype.
everyone forgets and the "small" and "joke" archetypes...
chun li's changed a bit ever since they gave her a fireball I think her architype has changed a bit.
I honestly find quite stupid that the character can't be considered a shoto despite having the tools and the gameplay of one just because one of their moves is done with a different motion input
Could some all rounders also be footsies?
VERY glad you mentioned DEVO as an example of a puppet as not only is he the first puppet character to my knowledge, he also did the puppet in a very unique way as he is among the few Puppet character who can attack with the puppet simultaneously, giving him big touch of death and 100+ hit combo potential.
Why you no mention e. Honda?
Nmhs reference? Nope. Gotta drop a sub. Based content.
The no more heroes reference! Ah, that's so cute! I love it!
And then there’s FUCKING HAPPY CHAOS
I'm a big fan of the term "trappler" when it comes to Kan-Ra.
Hey Hydro! I have a one quastion to you: "What archetype is Anji Mito from guilty gear?" By your vidio I can say rushdown-shoto(?). I realy want to know about this
(And I know, that game call him balance, but I cant say that Anji is norm on distance. Because butterfly is more pressure move)
I think the fighters that I typically enjoy playing as regardless of the fighting game I'm playing consist of Footsies, Zoners and Shotos.
You couldve defeated the mentioned guys video by a landslide cause all his video talks about is skull girls (if u play that game take a shower for once), guilty gear, and street fighter which lets be honest fell off a decade ago but all u talked about was games NO ONE i know plays...idk why yall fighter youtubers only show these obscure ass games, like theres literally no reason not to show popular games, in fact it would garner more attention since everyone can actually tell what tf ur talking about, but no yall just talk about frickin chubikayaku bukkake-kun from unpopular basic anime fighter number 25 EVERY SINGLE TIME. No one cares about your special littel game use ACTUAL COMOREHENSIBLE EXAMPLES
Istg if you dont mention an actually popular fighting game like tekken, mortal kombat, or dead or alive imma spazz.
Finally someone talks about fantasy strike
I feel like mix up can be its own trait as well as there are some character who use mix ups but don’t use speed or rush down. Smoke from Mk 1 is a good example Also defensive not an archetype ?
Useless info
Nice! Would Erron Black in MK11 be a mix between rush down and zoner? He’s a gunslinger, but several of his melees are spammable.
SF6 Edventures soon?
👑
KEN MENTIONED!!!
Would love to see a zoner or puppet character in tekken
We're totally getting Edventures 6, right?
This is a great video, this is the most succinct and effective way of explaining frame advantage and why I should care about it I've seen. Nice work!
The fighting game chargon is nothing to be afraid of since only die hard competitive players (sweat lords) use those terms. I simply use the terms a fighting games comes packaged with. Blocking, parrying, dodging, reversing, cancelling, counter attack etc. Nothing too fancyto be hon est. The rest is pure technical term a regular fighting game player doesn't need to care about.
Man I don’t like Luke he looks like Logan Paul 😂plus he looks like a frat boy
You said there was only 5 archetypes, but you kinda mentioned a 6th one when you were talking about Seth. Jack-of-all-Trades. The character who really does not fit into any archetype because they have traits from all of them.
He did talk about that tho, composite characters
That was poorly worded on my part: I wanted to say that with Shoto characters like Akuma, they are designed in a way where their Hadoken, Shoryuken and Tatsumaki Senpukyaku specials form the core of their moveset - their gameplay revolves around those 3 particular moves, whilst any other specials are just extra tools to use. With Seth, his Shoryuken, projectile and Tatsu-like move don't have that same emphasis - they are useful tools, but they don't overshadow his other moves. If anything, they get overshadowed by his teleport, command grab & divekick. A simple way of summing it up would be that Seth may have the moves of Shotos, but he doesn't use them in the way that Shotos do. Based on what I know, I would say Seth is a mix of an All-Rounder and a Rushdown character.
What type of character is Ryuji Yamazaki?
It's crazy how good this video is, and how little attention it will probably get. Honestly, this feels more like a philosophical discussion about SF's fundamentals, using Luke and Ryu as the pillars of old school and new school.
I thought the editing was very good and then I got to the TTGL eye catcher. subbed
I get nostalgia feeling from people you play in this video and remember them from my rank matches, but not seeing them in SF6 anymore :(
Oh, this is a very good video. I’m an 09’er so I know my way around a fireball and uppercut, but it was still very entertaining, getting a well-rounded look on these guys. Liked and subscribed. Please get to Zangief soon.
I'll try using tatsu in combos more
It's the fighters from the streets
"If you're getting into fighting games on a competitive level..." ...know that everyone hates you.
