New Arm Saddle Breakdown | By Nick Salles
มุมมอง 3.6K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Here's one of Nick Salles's favorite feeds into the arm saddle position from when his opponent is mid-range. This position applies concepts from passing in which the bottom player is able to utilize the "bump by" motion in order to turn an opponent's frame into an underhook. Let me know what you think of this position in the comments below and suggest topics for us to cover in future videos!

Very happy you gave credit to the old school guys as I saw Baret do this so long ago at ADCC. Again though, like you said, there are subtle but important changes like all the other BJJ techniques.
Take a look at the Sambo pic you flashed of Reilly @ 0:25... his bottom arm secures the heel like an RNC, and the top arm reaches over to rotate at the heel as you bridge into the knee. Your version has the arms reversed which negates the purpose of the grip and the control + breaking pressure are weaker.
The Mikey lock version has more control and breaking pressure so I’m sorry to correct you here but the old sambo version is weaker with less contro. The version Reilly did is the inverse of the Mikey lock. Still a super cool position but we are teaching the Mikey lock in this video. We do this for a living and can attest as experts that it has more control and functionality.
It is arm saddling to me, that not many more people play the arm saddle.
Nice vid! Would love to see some different options from the keymaster. I get stuck when I get to the position but the person on top is kinda leaning more backwards and not putting pressure.
Great video. Subscribing!
Those resets are killing the sport. Impressive back take 😎
First of all great video Second of all what nose strips are those - i tried a few they all suck
FIRE
Really good teaching, took some notes. Thank you 🙏
It’s a Choi bar
I think it's fine that people refer to the entire movement as a "Choi Bar" , but I'm reluctant to use that term as a coach because I see all of the different entries and leg configurations as a system that warrants a positional name- rather than being referred to as just a move. I can't say I've studied Choi all that much, but it seems to me that he favors the shoulder crunch entry into the arm bar, hence "choi bar". In my opinion, it's like calling inside sankaku or the saddle position "inside heel hook". If you get full extension of the arm, I'd say you achieved a choi bar from the arm saddle position. Do you disagree?
🔥🔥🔥
Great video
Troubleshooted? Isnt shoot irregular? Sry, not native speaker
Troubleshot. Past tense.
Thanks for sharing
great breakdown
oos
Have you ever rolled with Nick Salles? He is really really good
Haha yup he’s amazing!👏
I like to see Daniel maira
Great vid

🔥🔥🔥🔥
Enjoyed the breakdown and liked how you walked us through the passing sequence
Thanks for the feedback! I’ll try to do more passing in the future.
fire!
This channel would explode if y'all posted more. You're doing an amazing job, but nobody knows about it.
Thanks! Working on posting far more. Appreciate the help growing the channel!
Would love to see some nogi lasso attacks too!
bump!
Great video
Choi bar?
More arm saddle content please 😃
Love it
Is there any chance you'll release a NoGi instructional? You all have great stuff on JJX and Fanatics. But it's all in the Gi.
🔥🔥🔥🔥technique Im definitely trying this in the gi
Ultra bomba goon 😂

This is such a beautiful way to connect the berimbolo and leg entanglement game in an offensive way. I would love to see you guys break down the way you set up choi bars from open guard scenarios.
For sure will do that soon!
Moving the head on the mat is such a huge detail that I've never thought about. Thanks guys!
man I was wrong and hought that the philly saddle was another name for honey stick! thanks for the breakdown. I gotta study this one
it does look like the honey stick alot with the trapped leg
Glad I could help!
Still seems like the defense to this position is to simply fight harder for a knee bar entry (fight against your wedge) and not so readily accept the leg entanglement. Cool position but not sure that it’s very replicable
It’s replicable in many different scenarios at a high level for sure. It’s also literally shown to work against black belts in the video. However nothing is meant to work in isolation, it’s simply part of a much bigger system. Thanks for watching!
Awesome job on this video guys!!!
Just subscribed awesome details
As the guard passer. How do I deal with that? 😅
😂😂 that’s another video fam
This channel is amazing. And it's just getting started. Please, keep up the great work.
Appreciate the feedback. Will do!
It is very difficult to set up and the road to deceiving it is difficult, but after completing the setting, it seems invincible.
Both legs controlled through outside position alone. Very novel.
😮💨😮💨
Wow this is great! This is almost good as mannyonline!
great video!
love this! fantastic video would love to see more gi and no gi from danny, nick, valor, and tadiyah or anyone from the crew
Only no gi, please.
@@AN043V3R nick and Danny do tons of gi work and content already they are phenomenal gi competitors
@@TheGrapplingNinja exactly. That's why I'd like the current focus to be no gi.
@@AN043V3Rappreciate the positivity! Going to continue to do both!
This was great!
