Wisconsin Bow Hunting - Watering Hole Success
I know the thumbnail is a bit misleading. It’s not my intention to do so. Well I guess it is TH-cam so it was maybe a little bit of my intention. With that said…during a dry year, you can’t beat an isolated watering hole like this. Usually the surrounding area is under water, but 2023 was a hot and crispy fall. So instead of waiting on a cold front, I went to the source of life for all creatures. I had every buck on the property using this thing in the summer. The bucks disappeared and it had been two years since I took a deer with my bow, so I set out for the best opportunity I could get on a doe if it presented itself. As I say “sometimes you just have to let an arrow fly”, and man did it feel good to break the ice. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.

Actually had him at 40 yards on my last day and still couldn’t get a shot. A day I’ll remember but wish I could have touched off on an arrow. My biggest mistake was the second time where I paused if I wanted to take him. By the time I slapped myself it was too late and too quiet. Thanks for watching and good luck this year!

Wasn’t like he circled up with 8 buddies around the doe and popped a kegger. Nice touch with the “last bite” (letzebitten) ritual. Very nice filming as well - earned a subscribe. @@toomuchfunnn and yes, 65 yards is very typical for a deer to expire after taking an arrow. From that comment I would assume you aren’t a bow hunter. I’m not using a gun in this video just in case you needed clarification. I try to keep my channel authentic. I don’t hide from anything. I show the good and bad. Most of the negative comments I get I figure are from keyboard warriors or maybe some jealousy seeing a guy share what he loves to do. You fall into both those categories and that’s okay. @@toomuchfunnn honestly…I don’t believe you…or you haven’t hit enough animals. A double lunged deer can go a ways before expiring. Most experienced hunters know that. It was a 27 yard shot. In fact I don’t think I’ve ever shot at a deer longer than 30 yards. I’m not an arrow flinger. I take shots I know I can make after running a thousand arrows through my bow in the spring and summer.

Ouch! I can feel your pain. I had one at less than 30 yards two seasons ago, on the ground. Walked right into his bedding area following terrain. He should have known I was there but the wind direction and wind speed were in my favor. He walked past me at 20 yards in the brush and hooked around below me. I was on him, ready to shoot when he stepped out. 1 foot to go, and he looked right at me. Dead on right at me. He was gone down over the ridge. It's a real heart breaker when it's that close. Great footage of an awesome buck, though!
