How to Make a Cherry out of Glass | The Art of Lampwork
Hi, today I'll show you how to make a cherry out of glass. It's a very satisfying video. th-cam.com/video/r2svnripHco/w-d-xo.html
Lampworking is a type of glasswork in which a torch or lamp is used to melt the glass. Once in a molten state, the glass is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking or torchworking, as the modern practice no longer uses oil-fueled lamps. Lampworking is used to create artwork, including beads, figurines, marbles, small vessels, Christmas tree ornaments, and much more. It is also used to create scientific instruments as well as glass models of animal and botanical subjects. In this series of videos I will show you some workshops on this art.

    I keep forgetting you are using a blow pipe and think ‘gee, that’s not enough glass for a cherry’, and then ‘tada!’ LOL

    How about the thin black glass stick? When you thin black glass, it melts quickly under fire. It is not possible to put small dots like you do.

      Well apparently it is possible or you wouldn’t be commenting on her doing it. 😉😃✌Just make very thin stringers, you can absolutely do it I do it all the time… good luck, you’ll get it! 🐥

      When you pull the glass out into a thin glass stick, it is called a stringer. It does melt very easily. This demonstrates how skilled this artist is. It takes practice and patience to become this proficient.

    You will probably not see this comment for a year old video. But I have to say this is so outstanding that you have made me start buying tools to do flame work. This pufferfish is really, really good. I am 70 yrs old have have been wanting to do flamework for many years. You have inspired me beyond proscrastination. Thank you. I have also subscribed and will be binge watching everything you have done. Excellent work !

    Absolutely fascinating such skill and precision, why do you blow the tiny little hole in the side before removing from the mandrel?

    Are you blowing into the hollow rod to make the bead larger at the beggining? And did you coat the mandrel with bead release?

    • @mirelapopovici9077
      @mirelapopovici9077 ปีที่แล้ว

      No bead release, she is inflating it a bit with air in the beginning and then removes it with pliers while heating the mandrel only until the glass melts off
