Why do this melodies sounds so much like classically US melodies (if there even is such thing)? I have no real musical knowledge but this sounds that way to me.

idk i think the newer one is better . this one is missing the mind-blowing climactic ass key change at the end , as well as the incredible keyboard solo in the beginning . i also like how andrew's voice sounds and the mixing & mastering on the newer one better . this one's also missing the triplets when he says "mom and dad started getting all sad again" . the newer one just sounds way more matured , like he was sitting on this song for a while and added a bunch of cool little details while it was in the oven . all of my favorite songs of his are ones he's worked on for a really long time - "girls own love" , "the song" , "totally stupid" , "music or die" , "the moving room" .

It's seriously dope as fuck, being an Andrew WK fan and a Jackass fan. I only just watched the 3rd season and when I heard this song I knew it sounded like WK. Glad I found this!

Still like this more than "The Song".

It's interesting to see the progression of this to "Girls Own Love". I like the final version better, but this is definitely interesting. I like that as his records progress, he appears more comfortable with his voice and there is less overdubbing/masking it with effects.
