MATTTHEGREETER
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 มิ.ย. 2021
I didn't write anything here yet? Are you sure? I mean, did you even look? Ok, I should maybe work on this part. I'm Matt. I ride just outside of Boston, MA, USA which is usually a traffic and infrastructure nightmare. Sounds good, right? Anyway, my knees are shot so I don't play much basketball anymore but I still play electric bass and sing as often as I can. I may be somewhat of a coffee junkie as well, the stronger the better. I am a recovering educator and currently work in the food industry, which was supposed to be temporary, but now is temporarily permanent, at least for now. One final note: Neil Peart is the greatest drummer of all time. He rode a motorcycle. The end. Did you make it this far? Thanks! See you on the road! - Matt
Thoughts on Modular Helmet
In spite of the great weather exhibited in this video, things ain't so grand at the moment. The Bug Smasher is covered and the battery is warming in the apartment. I am REALLY hoping to have power out in the shedrage at some point, but the landlord is one busy fella, so it ain't happening this winter! Alas and alack. Especially alack.

Bug Smasher Update I forgot to post in October 2024
มุมมอง 306วันที่ผ่านมา
This vid sort of fell through the cracks. Bugzy and Justin rode this road on the very same day, although we didn't pass each other. I watched their vid and memory had me thinking I had posted my vid, since the scenery was an exact match. As you know, the Bug Smasher is half-fixed. No more oil leak, although the engine mounts are still junk. That's a job for another day (and another person haha)...
Snowblower or Rototiller?
มุมมอง 11314 วันที่ผ่านมา
I never did make it to Revolution Road. Soon after this video I noticed the Bug Smasher was having problemos. I called Revolution Road and the guy said they never work on a bike 10 years old or older. Never. Ouch. As you know, I ended up at MOMs. They took pity on me, although I paid through the nose for the pity. So it goes.
Bug Smasher Sketchy Vibration
มุมมอง 84หลายเดือนก่อน
You can see exactly when my front engine mount finally gave up the ghost. It was whilst striking a recessed sewer cover I didn't see until the last second. The vibration after hitting the thing was markedly worse than it was before I hit it, and for a Dyna, that's saying something. I feel that a polite plumber, Super Mario for example, or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle might have poked his head ...
Whose Experience Will I Get?
มุมมอง 197หลายเดือนก่อน
I recorded this JUST before my (rocker-box cover / breather tubes?) sprung a leak. A few days after this I ended up having to ride over to MOMs for more than just an oil change. I don't know if I got the "Bugzy" treatment, but the service guy Nick was very polite and professional. MOMs mechanics don't usually work on a bike that's over 10 yrs old, but they had mercy on me. I bought the Bug Smas...
The Autumn Thing You Love Most
มุมมอง 97หลายเดือนก่อน
See, there's where I go wrong. Passersby will read the video title, click on the vid, and then hit the dislike when it's not a video about a Goth band (regrettably), tour of random stone walls, pumpkin spice worship, or an exegesis of a Robert Frost poem. I do this to myself. Anyway, for those of you keeping tabs on the Bug Smasher, my next few videos contain incorrect surmises and woefully ina...
Foliage Tour on the Bug Smasher 2024
มุมมอง 115หลายเดือนก่อน
Is it possible I didn't talk the entire time? Even after that guy pulled out in front of me and drove under the speed limit for the second half of the ride? In spite of that, it was a beautiful autumn morning. I had to wait for a Stephen King fog to recede before hitting the road, but once I got out there the roads cleared a bit and the colors of the season really lit up. What's it like where y...

Yeah, that. And while I have you here, I just want the same respect the dogs are getting! Stay tuned to the end to see some real New England autumn foliage... well, four or five leaves worth. See you on the road. th-cam.com/video/K-s0Q40S2BA/w-d-xo.html

First of all, what a terrible thumbnail haha. What is it, my first day? Anyway, here's a quick review of my new favorite shirt, the ALL RIG NO GIG by Walrus Audio! How to Handle a Critic
มุมมอง 2373 หลายเดือนก่อน
Just a few utterances on handling the occasional critic. I also talk about what is probably the only time I ever left a comment that wasn't 100 percent positive, and why I left it. I can't remember another time I bothered leaving a partially negative comment. I don't like doing it and I may not do it again, but in context, the one I refer to rankled me due to the source, subject, and enormity o...
Looking Ahead (not forward) to November
มุมมอง 1153 หลายเดือนก่อน
Thinking ahead to our November voting festivities here in the US of A. Couple touchy episodes in a row, but hey, we're in a touchy season here. Not sure I effectively articulated what was on my mind, but it was a beautiful ride nonetheless! It is with 50% certainty that my next episode will be 100% more positive. That's my $0.02 anyway. See you on the road
BIG FLAG (a plea for etiquette)
มุมมอง 733 หลายเดือนก่อน
I expect a lot of dislikes on this one, especially from folks who don't listen until the end, but maybe the comment section will surprise me. Is my part of the USA the only place where so many enormous flags are blotting out the sky? It doesn't bother me so long as the flag is well cared for, and if the purpose of the display is to honor our country, not to elevate the flyer of the flag. Here's...

Beautiful ride Matt. Something about the hinge on the modular helmets that I just don't trust in an impact.
Agreed!
cool video. subscribed
I have never forgot to upload a video, but I have deleted plenty of footage due to crappy video, audio, and some things just not worth posting.
I don't like to ride side by side with anybody
Agreed....always ride staggered when riding with others.
Hey Matt
Hey Larry, what's the riding like where you are these days? Lot of salt on the road here! I've got the battery in the apartment at the moment, waiting for a good soaking rain to clean the streets.
@MATTTHEGREETER We don't get snow here much and the weather's not too cold, so we were out and about all year long .
Not sure the state of your bike currently or if you saw Bugzy's short video about having a ride this w/e to Ocean State Job Lot. but check out the 2 short videos if interested. (I won't be going.)
These dynas rattle everything to breakage lol..mine has a little seapage also.. going to hopefully do mine this winter myself..
😎👍
Sorry you had trouble with the Bug Smasher...shame that Revolution Road would not work on your bike...you need to find a local guy...we have a local guy who LOVES working on older bikes...newer ones too. $60 per hour labor and he knows his stuff! He just fixed up my brother in law's 1985 HD. Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas!
We got a bit of snow here...not nearly as much as our poor kids up in Erie, PA....don't know anything about snow blowers...we need tractors here, lol
MetroWest got a little snow a couple days ago but most of it washed away with the rain on the tarred surfaces, only a little left on the grass.
Snow tiller lol
No snow here last year at all
thank you thank you thank you bro 🙏🙏🙏🙏
We didn't get much snow last year since I bought a new snowblower. (Years ago it happened when I bought my last one too.) Hopefully we get some snow to help with the drought situation (but not to get clobbered like the "Blizzard of 78" which I remember much too clearly.) Good luck with the bike repairs (sounds like you should put the bike away for the season and worry about getting the money for the repairs next year....."Why worry about something today when you can worry about it tomorrow." 🙂)
I remember my dad crawling out the window to shovel out the front door. We cooked potatoes and hot dogs in the fireplace. That's about all I remember. I remember we had a lot of candles going to try to add some cheer (and heat). Years later I was living in NY up near the Canada border when the huge ice storm hit. We were without power for many days, cooking over candles. I made coffee over candles haha. The worst idea was cooking slim Jims over a candle. They smelled like hot dogs and tasted good but man, they were not friendly to the guts if you know what I mean haha.
@@MATTTHEGREETER Yes, the snow was over the first floor windows in my house after that storm with all the drifting. Driving home from work (in a RWD Toyota) I just followed snow plows no matter where they were going, as long as they were heading in the general direction (since I was getting stuck trying to get up hills). Finally ended up in Abington which was one town over to where I was going (Rockland) with no major hills in between.
@@pcthayer My dad taught in Rockland for 31 years! Go bulldogs
@@MATTTHEGREETER Cool....I didn't go to school there, I'm originally from Weymouth (next town over).
I could watch you Americans drive and ramble on for ages. Gorgeous smooth roads you’ve got there. Here in Portugal every road is twisty and bumping (at least in the mountainside)
Thanks! I'm a big fan of MARO. In her videos from home in Portugal the scenery looks amazing!
Love pumpkin spice
I'll eat pumpkin pie, pumpkin muffins, etc. but no flavored coffee (not even french vanilla or hazelnut, yuck.) Gimme my Dunkin "regular" hot coffee and I am happy. (I go different places and ask for a "regular coffee" and they have no idea what that is.) The thing I like about Fall is you can travel to the coast of Maine or Massachusetts and not get stuck in traffic jams due to the tourists. I love the looks of the colored leaves in Fall, but then realize I'll be raking and picking up each one of those thousands of leaves around my house for weeks.
Good point! And Maine really isn't far from Boston if you plan it right. Pretty cool part of the country!
@@MATTTHEGREETER Yes, the coast from York Beach to Kennebunkport is a very easy day trip from Boston if you use the highway to get up there.
Love the message you are sending out there - keep on! (and thanks for the ride along the roads I used to drive to get to to our 6B jams!!)
Thanks man. Those jams were so much fun. I miss it!
Cat got your tongue?? First video without a greeting?? How can you be Matt the Greeter if you won't even greet us?? 🙂 (I'm only kiddin') I went to Wachusett mtn today but missed all the foliage, it all had passed, plus the road to the top is now closed.
It was VERY hard to keep my mouth shut haha.
@@MATTTHEGREETER This had to be part of a bet. I'm sure it was difficult keeping quiet, but atleast you won that bet. 🙂
Did you see Metallica's Black Album done by a group that did it in the style of the 1960's? Very strange. th-cam.com/video/dYxYCWL89uQ/w-d-xo.html
Great message. Thanks for passing it on!
Thanks for watching!
everyone wants a reaction now.. giving them nothing just piss's them off because they have no idea what to do now.
That is SO true man
If you stay grounded, positive things come your way.
Yes sir!
Thanks for passing that on, that's great advice. What was that saying when we were kids? "I'm rubber, you're glue. Whatever you say bounces off of me and sticks to you"
Right on!
Really sound advice from his mother. Great chat, Matt.
Thanks brother!
Jazz always reminded me of everyone in the band doing a solo at the same time. Then again I am no music critic.
Haha, yeah, some of it can seem like that. Bad jazz is bad. Mediocre jazz is bad. Great jazz is on a higher plane! Not everyone agrees though haha.
@@MATTTHEGREETER I never seen Jazz as bad, I just do not understand it, and what it sounds like to me.
Thank you!! 😂😂 this made my day
🤗Sorry Young Sir,Always Found Amusement with You Getting Distracted . Squirrel ..🤔🤣😂
I'll have to check them out, I love Joni Mitchell and most of the songs she wrote. Thanks for the tip.
I checked out some of their videos and love their interpretation of her songs. Thx (I subscribed to their channel)
@@pcthayer Awesome. I can't wait to hear the EP when it comes out!
We just released it today! Link in the descriptions of our videos
With your college closing, just make sure you have any documentation you may need for future jobs so you can verify that you graduated from there. Since I could claim I went there and how would they prove I didn't. (I wouldn't doubt that will be on George Santos's resume the next time we see it.) 🙂
Haha yeah, good point!
i bought a pair of pants that look identical to those off ebay for $50.
Might be the same ones. They discontinued this style pretty soon after I bought them, which was over 2 years ago at this point. I can't remember how much they cost new, but I got them on a serious deal, so they weren't full price. I wouldn't buy the same style again, but they were good considering the discounted price!
I'm sad to hear your college has shut down. Life goes on, with, or without us. My pups demand you pet them when greeted. 😂
Good dogs!!!
I can see going to the reunion if it was just the year of your class, but the school has been in business since 1900 so you are going to have tons of folks there many older than you and even more younger than you. How do you relate to any of them, the only thing you have in common is you are sad Eastern Nazarene is closing its doors. (I wouldn't have gone either.) That was a funny about the dogs. You need to get a sign that says "don't talk to me without my wife's permission. 🙂)
I like the sign idea. Maybe I should make a t-shirt!
ugh.. I'm over being up north. I'm hoping to move down south at some point in my life. yeah, the amount of different accents just in the Boston area is crazy.
100% i would have pronounced it Quib(see) no zee! Your shoutout was long overdue. I hope it helps your channel in some small way. 🏍💨🦑
PS: Apologies for stating your career improperly. I was using your YT bio. Congrats on getting out of the food industry!
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures Thanks man! Time to update my bio haha
I like to hear people pronouncing "Quincy" (Quinzy) properly. 🙂 That only locals know how to say it. (Not like in the old TV show Quincy MD with Jack Klugman) Glad your new job has impact on the young people that you are working with. It must feel good that your job has meaning and you are contributijng to a better society, rather than just "making widgets". Your self-worth must have doubled or tripled since ditching the old job and getting the new one, since you are making a difference in people's lives.
A bunch of 50lbs bags... Let's add 5 more pounds in our product just because. I'm looking forward to riding in the fall and checking out the scenery.
You can't let internet trolls get to you.
Hello Mate greetings from South Australia, few things of a better quality. Always a great idea. Krakens sent me 😎.
Kraken sent me Matt. How to handle critics? I remind myself that they don't build statues honoring critics... Eric also gave me a shoutout some time back & it helped me a lot, now I've just reached 1k subs.
Thanks for stopping by! Kraken is one great human for sure
@@MATTTHEGREETER yes he is, very few youtubers offer a helping hand to emerging channels.

Yo dude ! Yes, I don’t mind constructive criticism but the a-hole ones aren’t appreciated. Cheers amigo.
Cheers!
To your last point, you are totally like this in real life. That's why I love you're vids man, its like hanging out back at that place we worked :D Keep up the good vids and good vibes! Also you blew through like 6 stop signs you psycho!
Some good points there about criticism. We all learned from criticism by our family and teachers growing up. As long as it is a fair criticism and said in a loving way and not meant to be used as a weapon to make one feel badly, it is good.
Someone leaves negative comments, it shows where their heart is. True statement. 👍 I never understood the political rants. If two "adults" disagree political, ok... Have a mature discussion and agree to disagree if the two opinions don't match. I love having an open debate and hearing other people's opinions. Guess what?! Your opinion may change. Only way to grow! Good stuff
Constructive criticism is always helpful, opinion orientated criticism are like buttholes, everyone's got one.
