Please note, I was not in the SAS or the Royal Marines, just a lucky Army bloke who was attached to the Royal Marines, getting stuff done in order that Dayton could be agreed; helped the SAS (forget what they called themselves in theatre), collected one fo their Senior Officers out fo Sarajevo etc. Their SNCO was great, a couple of the Troopers were very helpful.

Well, sorry, but I do not recognise him, either from May '95 forward, or from when a tranche of SAS were RTU'd in August '95. Sector Liaison teams (the key is the word Liaison) arranged meeting and got people safely to and from the meetings. The capture etc, sounds like an exaggerated version of the 1st capture of my Royal Marine and me, conflated with my 4th or 5th capture. 1st time captured, we were released after the SNCO Marines borrowed a few baby-tanks and crew from the Malays and collected us.

I read an ex SNCOs view on selection of selection and the type of guy that SF want and there was no type, a full Regiment of 6ft 6in tall and 4ft wide, muscle bound operator is more of an American thing.. On the same selection course you might get 200 begin the course and 7 get badged at the end, of that 7 guys, one might be a 6ft 3in tall, athletic built good looking thoroughbred, but next to him get a 5ft 5in, stocky built, ugly toad, next to him might be Mr average 5ft 10in, average looking, average build, balding at the front, slightly overweight stomach, some might be 11st racing snakes and some might be naturally large 18st monsters, some might be very quiet, can't get words out of them that isn't about work, they finish work, go home, mow the grass, push the kid on a swing, pay the mortgage and repeat, very few people know this dude, he slips under the radar but hes brilliant at the job, husband, dad ect, but the next guy might be a super sociable guy that everyone knows, he's invited to every party, at every wedding, always the best man, can't go down a street without seeing someone say hi to them but never see him talking about his job, there's the nightmare character on the piss and Mr Tea total, there is no type.. What they all have is something inside that so few people have, that there isn't a name for it.. I think it's a perfect mix of all things, there might be guys that can run faster, swim faster for longer, March harder, carry more weight, know more tactics but the guys in the SF are above average in all those things even if never the best, they are always positive, and take positive action even if not smiley outwardly happy guys, they have a give it a go attitude, and can mix with guys as well as being happy alone.. They are a different breed, a mix of lots of positives and negatives.

I attempted SAS selection back in 96 did the Pre Selection it went OK but deferred the Course I should have been on. Then life got in the way a divorce Court Martial soldier on for ABH meant I never returned. I've no shame just regrets about not trying again when life evened out.

I'm sure the Serbs were more afraid of you guys than you them. No matter how tough you think you are you'd be very foolish to mess with the SAS, because you could put money your brothers would be coming to kick ass after the fact and they would know that, and that's coming from a Paddy.

Gaz Banford could be one of them. But a lot of people say one of the guys is Paul "Scruff" McGough ,former SBS sergeant, who died in a Para gliding accident a few years ago. But yes, I think Gaz is one of them as there's a few of them and one kind of looks like him even though his face is blurred.

What a load of.. from start to finish. Not that I say the man is telling porkies, but it's a matter of cultural understanding and perspective: The Serbs' special forces are VERY well trained and no way would have allowed to prisoners to be together to communicate had they any mal-intent. The Slav/Serb mindset was to allow them even to stay ungagged and talking in the vehicle coming to a new place - again no way these were Serbian SF and it shows their absolute willingness to be reasonable until some dopy sod started laughing at the hospitality and respect shown - a total show of disrespect and mockery of kindness/decency by himself. Even the 'interrogation' - hardly that but a clearly untrained in that field officer was just talking to them trying to find out who they were notwithstanding that the UK was getting itself balls deep in a conflict it had NOTHING to do with and arguably had possibly started, together with the US to preserve a sick hegemony and put down especially anyone partly or potentially Russian aligned. The idea of the Serb concentration camps came about from a number of propaganda sources - someone 'on the Muslim side' (and who knows who else was behind it, but I can guess) hired the best PR people in the US to do a character assassination on Serbia which peaked with a front cover story in Time magazine of Muslim Fikret Alic showing him 'taught and starving' 'in a concentration camp' - in fact he was standing by an old electrical substation with protective fence which ended just off shot (photo deliberately edited - proven) such that he was in fact a totally free man and in no camp at all. Many (mountain) people in that part of the world are thin, and shortages of food and the need to move during that war exacerbated it, as did, not least, people becoming refugees. The information about the Fikret Alic/TIME lies is public knowledge but obviously no-one is trying to draw attention to it because of the vile, deliberate scandal it represents. Of course there were atrocities in that war as there soon are in ANY war, and in some areas Croats, Muslims and Serbs fought all-out, whilst in other areas they protected one another and everything in-between. Lunatics with monetary, interests together with the use of nationalism and propaganda started and continued that war, similar to what is going on in Ukraine today - it's good to note that the US (and its satellites) sold off the vast Serb industries, mineral rights and more, and do so to this very day - as well as abusing the country for mining and bad practice exploitation even today - look up Rio Tinto the British company and the extreme (and worsening) poisoning of several rivers (Drina which flows into the Danube, could become the greatest environmental disaster in history even as the taxpayer pays for nonsensical wind and solar 'farms') and the continued building of their plants to do more damage as it's outside the EU and they can get away with it. What is going on is sick, and I have to say that Serbs are some of the most friendly, educated (Yugo education was excellent and widespread, not on the model of elitism as we have in the UK) and decent people in this world. I fear this video exacerbates poor opinion of them, when a foreign SF agent/spy in the UK or Western allies would have been treated FAR worse had they been caught in the middle of a live UK op (to wit waterboarding, sleep deprivation, rape, sexual abuse, beatings, degradation, drugging, sensory deprivation - all proven and without trial, and far more goes on outside Guatanamo, such as at 'black ops' bases in Poland and other countries not signatory to the Geneva Convention, or in 'off limits areas' in other countries). I have the greatest respect for these lads doing what they did in belief of what the UK is about - but sorry lads - the lovely, kind UK is a delusion - look at FACTS not feelings - we're not all woke, thankfully. And I'm certainly not into loony left or anti Empire or any of the modern self-hate stuff - Britain was good at what it did and did the same as anyone else but better at it as we industrialised first - and I'm proud of my ancestors and what they achieved, but I'm not proud of Iraq, The Balkans and now the Russia games - it's a selfish mockery of other nations and a very dangerous one for all of us. I can only advise that people get genned up on what has really gone on so we don't make things even worse with ignorant arrogance as to what Westminster is really about - with a few psychopaths and Narcissists that control and abuse a once great nation for their own benefit - certainly they are not looking after the British people! Our courts, police, the lot are inept and corrupt - easily provable, but no one will touch it. Best of luck, lads!

Serbs would had 100k free soldiers, they would be MUCH harder to be defeated, having that circle in the middle of that territory was super important for everyone, us in Croatia, Croats in Bosnia as well as for Bosniak muslims.
