    And how much money is baseball making on gambling now?And they are putting a team in Vegas? Like that won't cause problems?

    Well, he took the money = guilty. Lot of your stories are hearsay. He batted .356 in 13 years, which is astonishing. But, I imagine that number would fall a bit if he played 20 seasons like most others back then. Nonetheless, the guy must have been something truly special. Ruth tried to emulate his swing, and Cobb called him the best batter ever. He still deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Shit, they put his damn cleats in the Hall of Fame, but not him. Pete Rose is another ballplayer deserving to be in. The MLB need to rectify this. Unless they have a good deal of proof against Joe. Throwing the world series for the Mob is a terrible crime. Don't care how well he played in it statistically. I also guarantee most people don't know he played 8 games that World Series. It was a best of 9 series, not best of 7.

    We need to have a " Shoeless Day " here in Chicagoland every year to raise funds for our beloved Joe. With big money 💰 we can take legal action for as long as it takes to get this man some Justice in America 🇺🇸 where we live free or Die.

    Charles Comiskey is enshrined in the HOF. He was a scumbag owner. He stole from his players. Recall the his starting pitcher (Claude "Lefty" Williams, if i recall correctly) in the Black Sox season had a contractual clause that if he won so many games (20 or 30), that he'd get a bonus. Comiskey stopped starting him to avoid paying the bonus. Comiskey did that to a # of the "Black Sox", which was why they took the $, they needed it. If that POS Comiskey is enshrined, then Shoeless Joe should be too, and possibly a couple others of the crew!!!

    trying to understand the difference between little league baseball and Major League baseball is impossible for a poor kid in a state that does not have a MLB team. i was born and raised at South Carolina, discovered MLB after moving to Texas before my senior year of high school. kids who live at South Carolina now should be taught more about sports legends from there. i was never told about Shoeless Joe during my childhood or any thing about the Major Leagues.

    once they took the money the outcome of the series was affected no matter whether they actually tried to throw the series or not the very fact that they entertained this idea and planned it changed the future and jackson was part of the scheme even if he did not try to throw the series they lost the series without needing jackson to lay down but jackson was still potentially available since he took the money and would be liable a player who sits on the bench and doesnt play still gets a ring if his team wins and can still affect the game from sitting on the bench jackson by taking the money affected the outcome of the series regardless of how he played in fact even if the white sox had won the series they might still be banned becuz win/lose the series was altered by the players accepting money even if they changed their minds and won the series the outcome is affected one can argue that they now had extra motivation to win to get themselves off the hook so they took more chances and played more aggressively its not just whether they lost on purpose its also whether the outcome changed which it did

    ThIs is a joke!! Don't watch! Watch the Ken Burns baseball segment. I have pity for the dumb and clueless player Jackson. He was so good, but didn't know better. His home and away stats in the world series were completely different. OF COURSE he took the money. He needed it. Players were so taken advantage of then, even more than today.

    Christy Mathewson was watching the games with Ring Lardner. They sensed something was fishy. They agreed to keep track independently of who they thought was tanking. They both picked the same 7 players. That included Joe Jackson. I trust Mathewson's judgement.

    Pete Rose broke Cobb's hit record in 85, Anyone know how many more at bats Rose had than Ty Cobb? Rose played over 25 years, Ty Cobb even said that Joe Jackson was a better hitter than him, Shoeless Joe should have been in the HOF 80 years ago, just like Ruth and Cobb

    It's been 102 years since the accusation of Shoeless Joe being a cheater. Evidence proved that he was innocent of any wrongdoing. Still there are some people who believe the lies that have been out there for decades. The man is innocent and belongs back in baseball and the Hall of Fame. End game.

  • @omnimediaassociatesllc7984

    Actually, the 1919 White Sox had the highest payroll in the AL that year. And the Commissioners lifetime ban was about not only throwing games, but also participating in meetings where discussion of games being thrown took place. In Jacksons case, he took $5,000 for throwing games, whether he actively threw them or not. We have no real video from the 1919 WS so it is hard to say what he did or did not do.

    As a player in baseball till I was 20 , torn hamstring at a legion all star game ended my hopes for contact . Then coaching baseball and softball for my 4 children , just to show my love of the game. For Pete Rose , the man was a great ball player not for natural talent but because he had the will to beat you and he made every one around him better ( as a player ) . When he went to the Phillies he made Mike Schmidt one of the best at that time , but he bet on his own team (Reds ) , played himself and not Gary Redus . So for Pete no HOF. As for Joe Jackson if a mouse takes the cheese the trap will kill him , this is the case with Joe if he took the bait he is guilty does not matter if his conscience bothered him and he played well in spite , it just doesn't matter no HOF.

    If it wasn't for the throw out the world series called the black Sox's scandal 1919 shoeless joe Jackson should be in the hall of fame but I think it's long over due to be banned from baseball but for Pete rose being banned from baseball for betting against his team to win money should be banned from the hall of fame

    Despite weighing only 195 pounds, Jackson could bench press 475 pounds, an amazing total for that day. And as a golfer, he hit so many holes-in-one that he was banned from his community golf course. This was a man born to achieve in the world of sports.

    • @Snatchystashy
      @Snatchystashy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sure would like to know where you read this stuff because Shoeless Joe never got banned from a golf course because he hit too many hole in ones. That would never happen to anyone. I also highly doubt he could bench 475 lb. He was an incredible baseball player but I think you're embellishing here. If I'm wrong please tell me where to read these facts.

    • @MrBenjams1
