Hold the camera horizontally. Be mindful of what obstacles are between the lens and the image you desire to record. Ditch that voodoo ankle bracelet hanging on the rear view mirror.
It's a shame that the person filming (by their own admission) wasn't familiar with this L-1011 aircraft. I've loved this airplane since I first traveled on it in 1976. I'd have given anything to have a tour of this Flying Hospital unit plus the Orbital ATK L-1011 which helps launch satellites in space! A wonderful second life for these units which were retired (way too soon!) by the commercial airlines who used them. Long live the L-1011!! Best plane, ever.
It's amazing that this is 1 of 2 Tristars built with a lower deck lounge and in-built airstair (Both were originally sold to PSA Airlines), and that it's currently the only one of its kind that still exists today.
FELEOC Yes, this flying hospital was designed to fly to poorer countries without modern airport services. You can board the aircraft through the air stairs. www.mercyairlift.org/flyinghospital/airplane.html
The Cabin Service Elevators are listed by FLY777UAL via airliners.net were on the following aircraft types: DC-10-30's and L-1011's(to lower deck) 747-100 (to lower deck) and a dumb waiter to the upper deck...can't send carts to the UD 747-200 (to lower deck) and to the UD...can send carts up there 747-300 to upper deck...the carts 747-400 to upper deck...the carts In addition FDR C-54(DC-4) had a special elevator installed that would have allowed him to enter the aircraft with a wheel chair if he would have lived long enough to use it. *L-188 referenced via airliners.net. -Thanks for sharing!
WOW, that is wild, thanks for sharing the great video. I just read the L-1011 had a down galley and lounge area you showed it well not to mention it is or was a hospital, a real flying one. Some of the great things on the internet!!!! The Wright Brothers would have freaked. lol
Thank you, Gina, for capturing the inside of this beautiful machine. Such images are hard to come by. Always love to see a Lockheed TriStar in 2016. I hope this lovely airliner will find a museum to preserve her.
Thanks for these vids. I always eye up that ship when I'm dong pattern work, or coming in to land on RNW 11 L and R. Saw scuttlebutt on airliners that this ship may fly again. I figured it'd be scrapped like all the other L-1011's in the 90's.
Pa share po procedure. Thnx
Beautiful TriStar, bring them back xx
WHAT- WHERE IS THIS?!
That is so funny watching him do that.
I just noticed that landing gear is on the wings on this line.
cant see anything wrong with this,, just dogs chasing birds ,now if it showed them catching one thats another story,,,

If there's no facility such airstair/jetbridge, can it be used for boarding the passengers?

Cool! I've always wondered what PSA's lower deck lounge looked like. Worked on 1011's for years, but never saw a PSA.
I flew the TriStar once, from Atlanta to Miami- what a flight. Like no other plane, quiet and absolutely HUGE inside! Damn, I miss that plane.
