NPP operator here. The entire movie is sorta kinda fiction. No such thing as steam lines in Gen 2 PW reactor. Also, HPCI would never be INOP in any reactor while running. Yet, a masterfully executed scene/movie. Nuclear power is a wonderful thing, but a thing that must be respected.

1:14 Really don't understand all the dirty looks from the Captain to Holman. Holman warned him earlier that the bearing was a going to be a problem and needed to be fixed, but the Captain immediately dismissed his warning. Then when Holman's prediction turned out to be correct, the Captain looked at Holman as if it was somehow his fault. WTF was Holman supposed to do? He was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. It shows bad leadership on the part of the Captain. I've worked under a few supervisors who were like that. They were very insecure. They can never acknowledge their errors. They always feel the need to make themselves look right and you look wrong no matter what the situation. Such managers are typically the cause of poor workplace morale, which is what this film depicts.

I loved this movie as a kid. Maj. Von Steiner (Max Von Sydow) standing up to clap was my favorite scene. He just wanted to see a great football match, as he loved the game.
