@@jeantoh9946 Thanks Jean - much appreciated! The Snow Hotel does not look like much from the outside, but inside WOW! Glad we went on the excursion.
I'd prefer to travel in June because of 24 hrs daylight.
Completely understand. I wouldn’t mind trying that one day. We chose November for the snow and Aurora displays and weren’t disappointed!
@@sparkle1438 But I would like to enjoy the cruise itself and that means a lot of light and not too much cold temperatures to take a seat on the upper deck under the sky...

@@reyrey-vx3mv Much appreciated- I do try and give an overall impression of where we stay so people can make their own minds up. It’s a nice clean hotel so you should enjoy it. Room 218 overlooks the pool and has great sunsets!!!
@sparkle1438 amazing thank you so much. Travelling as a family of 6. 4 adults 2 kids will be 7 and 3 so thinking of hiring a car for a few days to travel around easier. Kids are more excited now after being able to see the hotel :D and so are we. Thank you
@@reyrey-vx3mvTry a day trip to Paradise Beach. Awesome.
Beautiful video! I know it took a lot of time and effort to put together. Traveling this route in November, your video has gotten me very excited!
@@PeytonMcAvoy-ug9nz Thank you for your kind comments. The video did take a long time to produce - it was difficult to know what to leave out!! You will have a wonderful time. Do some research before you go as there is plenty to see in the ports - we used Google Maps to get about. Do take plenty of warm clothing and invest in some snow spikes as it can be slippery in places. Enjoy!
Amazing!! Planning a trip. It snows in Nov?
@@VS-dr9is It sure does. Left Bergen on 15 Nov and there was snow at sea level from Bodo to Kirkenes. Quaysides can be very icy so suggest investing in spikes to slip on your shoes. It’s a wonderful journey.
Do u recommend taking the ship from tromso to svolvaer? Any sea sick?
@@heyawesome7627 Hi. The section from Tromso to Svolvaer is stunning with the vessel calling at several small ports such as Finnsnes. The route is sheltered from the open sea by numerous large islands so you should have no sea sickness issues. Enjoy the journey
No night sky ?
Un viaje que me encantaría hacer.
It is wonderful - try your best to go there!

@@rudyplataj6935 Thank you 🤩
Such an excellent presentation! Very well done! I enjoyed it and took notes! Could you answer a couple of questions about Hurtigruten? Do any of the cabins have balconies? I’ve only been on one cruise and we had a balcony that we spent a lot of time on. Also, was there much sea movement that you could feel?
@@Nanbin235 Thank you very much for your kind comments - much appreciated! Most of the Hurtigruten ships are of similar design - there are no balcony suites I am aware of. These ships are quite small compared to cruise ships with only 600 passengers. Decks 4 and 7 have panoramic windows with comfortable seats to watch the world go by. There is a walkway around the ship on deck 5 and an outside observation deck on 7. The vessel was very stable and there was not much movement. Most of the route is sheltered by islands with just a few “at sea” sections. You are given a list of these sections when you join the ship. As far as the aurora - announcements are made over the tannoy when it appears so no waiting in the cold unnecessarily! It is a wonderful journey - may do it again next year. If you have further questions do not hesitate to get in touch.
I did the BKB-trip in May 2016 and it was great. I can recommend it to everyone. The atmosphere on board was very relaxed, no fancy clothing needed, but warm wind proof clothing to go outside on deck is a must. Food was excellent. The ships don’t offer much entertainment, you just enjoy the surroundings. When I went they had an expedition team that offered presentations of where we were.
@@tiniselles Your comments are spot on. Very relaxed, excellent food and a wonderful experience. Expedition team were brilliant and gave some very interesting lectures. Must do it again!
Awesome video !!!

Beautiful. How far do you have to walk to get there?
Hi We parked at Prayway Head (Simonsbath to Lynmouth road), walked to Exe Head then down Hoar Oak Water to the cottage. Allow 1.5 hours at gentle pace. Enjoy it is worth it.
My first Hurtigruten voyage was on the Nordnorge. Brilliant. Many thanks
Hi Julia. Thanks for your kind words. It was an amazing trip - must do it again!
I hear you! I bought boots with built in flip outs 👍
Well done video! I'm scheduled for B-K-B in November 24 so this was so interesting.
Thanks Trish. You are in for an amazing journey - invest in some crampons, you won’t regret it 😊
I love your burgundy colored hat in the early part of the video. Would like to order one if you have any tips where...or what it's called?
Hi Trish - sounds like you are organised! Don’t forget a neck fleece, most people had them. That hat - we bought it several years ago in Mountain Warehouse. It has a fleece lining so is very warm. Not sure what it is called, may be worth popping into one of their shops. If they do not stock it, Trespass may be worth a look. Some of the hats on MW website look similar but difficult to judge without seeing it. Good luck.
Great video! Brought back memories, we went up with ms trollfjord to Kirkenes, spent a few nights at the snow hotel and came back down on ms Lofoten…in rough weather, that was some blast! We are going back in November coming for a new round trip with ms Havila Pollux!
Amazing journey - glad you liked the video. Would have loved to stay at the Snow Hotel - very jealous. Hoping to fly to Tromso next year but a return journey on the Hurtigruten is on my radar aw well. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks so much. Never been called adorable before! 🤭
This looks awesome!!! I’m planning on going this November, where did you catch the “best” northern lights sighting? Tromso or near batsfjord?
Hi Pamela - you are in for an amazing trip! You could catch the lights anywhere - the bridge announces over the tannoy when they are visible. You get some light pollution in Tromso but they are clearly visible as you can see in the video. We saw them twice between Hammerfest and Kirkenes. Firstly at Mehamn on the way up and at Batsfjord on the way back. The display near Batsfjord was spectacular - it started near Vardo at 15:30 and continued until we left Batsfjord at 20:30 so this was the best area without doubt. If you have never seen them before, they appear to be milky white to the naked eye. You will only see the greens, reds and purples through a camera. You will need to wrap up warm! 🥶 If you need any further help, do let me know.
I thought it was a lovely video with a chilled soundtrack ☺️
Thanks Jill - glad you liked it. I’m no good at narrative so it had to be music 😊
That's where the memories come flooding back. In January 2022 we were traveling with the MS Nordlys. The lighting moods were very similar and we initially thought the clips were our own. You were lucky with the weather on the southbound route, unfortunately we were less so. And the trip to the Nordkapp was canceled due to the weather. But that motivated us to take another trip to Northern Norway with our caravan. And that was absolutely amazing. In June 2023 we also traveled with the MS Nordnorge from Stokmarknes to Svolvær... We always like to look at travel reports from other Norway enthusiasts if they are well done. And this film was well made! Many greetings from Germany.
Hi Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm glad you finally made it to Nordkapp - it was a bit wild when we were there! Travelling that far north in a caravan sounds awesome. The whole cruise was a wonderful experience visiting places we could never have expected to go. As you say, the colours were amazing - I particularly liked the sea fog in the Barents Sea. We were fortunate to see the aurora on four occasions which was a bonus. It took quite a while to edit the video but as always I wish I had taken more footage! We hope to go back next year and possibly stay a few days in Tromso. If you have produced a video of your trip, please send me a link so I can view it. Enjoy your travels in Norway! Regards Brian and Tina
@@sparkle1438 Hello Brian, hello Tina, We have now been to the Nordkapp twice with our small caravan. Once planned in September 22nd and once rather unexpectedly in June 23rd.😉 Our adventures can be seen in several parts on our TH-cam channel (On the Road with Mathias) if you are interested. However, only in German, but the films and pictures should speak for themselves. We want to go again in the fall and spend a few days in Tromsø. I also know the problem with non-existent or unusable film material. We're not professionals, but it's still great. Seeing the Northern Lights is truly wonderful and we want to experience more of it. There is always luck involved. But the unique lighting atmospheres in the far north are just as wonderful. We wish you many more exciting trips, no matter where you want to go. Hopefully we will enjoy Norway and Sweden a few more times. Kind regards Mathias and Carla (how good that Google can translate it so beautifully)
Brings back memories. I did this route from Bergen and back in September of 2002 on the Nordlys. Have my certificate proving I crossed the Arctic Circle, remember the ice water down my back.
Was very special trip Gerry - that ice though…..🥶
I did the whole journey in May 2016, also on Nordlys. Same experiences as you had, a journey never to forget.

Thanks for watching Victoria. I would like to visit Lofoten sometime - the short time we had there was a good taster! The journey from there to Kirkenes was awesome- the snow covered fjords contrasting with the pale Arctic skies was a sight to behold. You must do the whole journey!!

Hi Brian, nice video from Afionas 😊 no time this year but next year for shure
I hope to do those wonderful trek next year, thank yo for sharing, it's both so nice to watch and so useful. I have a question about bus which you return, it was regular green bus route? I could't find it on time table. I would also like to visit Peroulades /Cape drastis while my stay in Agios georgios, I know theres a bus from Agios Stefanos but I thought I have to get there only by foot.
Hi Alanis You are right about the Green Bus - The route from ASG to Sidari is not showing. It may start later in the year as demand increases. The only bus from ASG at the moment is to Corfu Town. Keep an eye on it! I know the local travel agent runs trips to Sidari so that may be an option. When we last visited, the green bus stopped at Peroulades on its return journey from Sidari. We walked from Sidari to Peroulades (about an hour). You have the option of walking to Lagos Beach and Cape Drastis - both worth the effort. During our visit we went down a track to the bottom of Cape Drastis and caught a water taxi back to Sidari. Things may have changed since then - check Tripadvisor. Check out my NW Corfu video. An alterative would be to get to Aviotes and walk down a minor road to Lagos then on to Cape Drastis.
@@sparkle1438 thank you very much for your extensive and comprehensive reply, I really apreciate it, now I'll be studying everything you wrote on map with new ideas for our trips! I know a lot can change till next season, so I have to be patient, especially that this area is starting to be more popular I think (Porto timoni, Afionas).
Great video! I'm watching all over again. Like also your video from Arillas to Afionas, this part of Corfu is so beatiful... I'm going to AGP June 2023, I heard that water there is cold, what's your expierience? Also I'm wondering if there where jellyfish? I saw people swimming in your video, and water looks so nice and clear.
Thanks so much for your comments - I tend to do these videos wherever I go to help fellow travellers get a feel for the place. We went in June and found the sea crystal clear and quite warm. It does get deep very quickly and I suggest you wear beach shoes as there are numerous small pebbles at the water’s edge. That walk from Arillas is quite long - we caught the local bus back but it wasn’t running this year

Nice video, which end of the beach would u say is best ??
Hi Lee - taking the little wooden bridge as half way, we stayed in the northern half. Plenty of places to eat and couple of very good cocktail bars. Lots of sun loungers for hire. Sand a bit coarse so beach shoes advisable. Southern end quieter but sand much finer. Boats available for hire both ends. Definitely the northern half for evenings. The further south you go the less facilities there are. Hope this helps.
