I think this might be poor examples, cause you can use other Nouns to describe shades of color. I think in this case the Noun describing the color would be the adjectives. For example, I can see sky blue and fire truck red both being colors. Sky blue would be a blue that resembles the sky, and fire truck red would very red metallic red resembles the shade used for typical fire trucks. Other example could be dirt brown, and brown dirt. I could see both of these being used in a conversation. Personally I'm not an English major or anything, so I might be wrong, and if so sorry for wasting time
