Had the show on waiting for Prince, something took my attention away….. missed it! The last notes were fading… after that my only exposure to prince live performance was years later….. you tube!

This live version is 1000 times better than the album version. Prince had a habit of making the live versions better which is why he sold out everywhere he performed. Not just a great musician and pop star but one of the best live performers ever.

It's such a difficult song. A fusion of funk, jazz, classical and rock. Even the lyrics, composition and harmonies are so different. Such brilliance. One of my favorite songs of all time.

This performance had no backing track, which I believe is the only time its ever been permitted. Its literally just a keyboard, guitar, bass vocals, with guitar and vocals obviously being the focus. Imo this is the greatest single showmanship performance ever, and it is outrageous that people have to watch this when seeing *how* he plays it is the most incredible part of the song.

I was at the original video for this track. I live in mnpls and am a musician. So I've watched prince perform over 30 times at paisley Park. I can promise you, never was he bette then during the GOLD EXPERIENCE. He refused to play PRINCE songs and just jammed with the most talented musicians I've ever witnessed. It was like watching WILLY WONKA ON ACID as Bono from U2 said having been there. His passion for set design and visuals matched his passion for music. Everything came together like the funkiest most psychedelic dream. It ruined me though. Never was able to appreciate a live show again. Even his. Everything after that is a let down. So there were consequences. :)😊
