Building a catwalk in an attic
I made this catwalk in an attic before adding blown-in insulation. This will make it easier get around in the attic.

It would have been a much more complete job if he would have finished by putting some caulking or weatherstripping where you could see daylight in those corners. It is easily going to be an entrance for small rodents, insects and air.
Using a hoe to scoop out stuff is so smart. I have a catch basin that has a bunch of grease and was clueless on how I could take the rocks of grease out but you just opened my eyes
What brand is it I braught the instahut water proof one here in Australia
Sorry bro. Not correct at all and very dangerous. You're taught when you're young to cut away from you. Mostly because as a child we are stupid and not dexterous. When you get older, its always safer to use the edges of the blades to cut towards yourself, because if you slip pushing with the full force of the knife, you run the risk of slicing your fingers off. You're told to cut away as a child because they dont understand they shouldnt use their entire power to push a blade through something. So its better to cut a finger than stab a lung. but as a functioning adult... you should know better. th-cam.com/video/MA3mhAtXRqs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vsDccoE9cfrXPOwJ Here, a youtube link explaining it. I worked for a short while in a blue collar job, and there the supervisors told us to cut away. When i told him what I just told you, he told me "yeah we teach these guys cut away because between 4 of them, makes the brain power of one 5 year old, but you're right." So that should answer your question. Its hard to find videos explaining it (because google thinks you're talking about cutting yourself lmfao) but its all over the internet. Especially with chef's and dexterous people. Hope that answers your question! Plenty of sources to back it up too. :)
Why bother. With all that shade around from the trees you don't need a shade sail. 😂
Horrible music :-) Helpful video!!
what type and size of pipe did you use?
LG😂
huh ?
Can you please tell me what kind of white caulking was that you used to seal around Splash Guards? I’d so much appreciate it. Thank you. Great video.
I’m lost 😮
It’s hot as hell out in Texas and I spent almost 1000 dollars and countless hours replacing every ac component for it not to work.. I’m about to do this I’m tired of this hot ass weather some bullshit fr
I’m so nervous about having one of these installed! Especially in the window on the back side of the building where there are people driving directly below the window.🙏
This looks so hard to do! Help!!🙏
WHAT ABOUT RAIN?? TOUCHING THE WOOD
watching is making me sea sick toward the end, I suggest another way to film it with a fixed camera position or a camera man
This works! I pulled 15 old, broken posts out of the AL clay in my backyard, all in one weekend. Yes, I did end up digging about shovel deep around the old concrete post to get mine up, but this totally works. Thank you so much for posting your video.
‘Sail Shade’
U lost me at the measuring
Just get a saddle shaped window air con unit.
You dont need to seperate no housing! You are out of your mind?! That was a brand new unit and here you are taking it completely apart just to install it?!? Jajaja what a joke!
There are transparent heat shrink films that you attached to the frame of a window with double sided tape and shrink to stretch it smoothly with a hair dryer in order to better insulate and seal your windows for winter. I wonder if you could use that to close off the gap...
For the non-handy men among us, is there a general works with most sliding window design KIT available to purchase anywhere to accomplish this?
So basically just cut out a panel and fit it in
the classic method
I see this video is 2 yrs old. Do you still install a/c units? Would you come to Whidbey Island? If so, what does your schedule look like?
How much would you charge to do about 20 boards that are all 16 feet long
Nice job brother! just a couple of things: if you had to do this on a secondstory window with no way to stand outside and slide that unit back into its case, it would need a different approach...also, not everyone has one of those saws for the cuts but I guess a circular saw would do for the plywood... if you got the tools and its accessible from ground level, looks good and came out Nice!
Very poorly explained
Thank you so much for the video. I have a tiny garden that borders a walk way this works!😊
So I just need a table saw and wood? Easy
Something came to mind @ 2:35 when you shaved some off the board. At first I thought maybe you were sawing a gap X inches deep and blade width wide so that the 2x4 would be able to pinch inward and you could mallet it down into the crevasse. Same concept as trimming the actual side, put probably more forgiving to saw a 75% gap down the length of the 2x4 so it can pinch inward.
Thanks for nothing 😂
Still don’t know how it’s mounted , affixed so it doesn’t just fall out the window
You're supposed to bolt a steel shelf to the wall outside the window to support it but many people just let the flange rest against the window frame and window sash or where the sliding window panel rests against the machine which is why we always hear stories of a window AC being dropped onto a parked car or the sidewalk below. I suspect with this video, it's the latter. The saddle type air conditioners would be my preference even though that's more window space to seal up. There's also the U type AC with a deep groove between the indir air handler and evaporator coils and the outdoor compressor and condenser coils but with sliding and casement windows, they should still have a supporting shelf of some kind though these could just be temporary braces attached to the bottom of the outdoor compressor and condenser portion.
I don’t know either! I just can’t grasp the concept of how it’s going to be safe! Someone’s going to install it for me this weekend but I don’t even know where to begin with the right supplies. A brace? Plexiglass? What size? Can I get it pre-cut? Do we get rid of our screen? Is it worth it since it’s probably going to cool down in about a month? I’m a nervous wreck about it. Help!
Howuch should something like this cost. This is pretty much exactly what im looking to do in my yard and the quotes im getting are wild
DIY
Curious as to why the risers?
So more insulation can go under, increasing the R-Value for that area beneath the cat-walk.
I don't think converting a "How To" video into a short was a good idea.
Definitely not New England…. No rocks for those post holes 😂😂😂
Awesome Video... I did not know you could take it apart like that. It made installation so much easier... Thank you!
This is the closest thing I could find to what i'm looking for. Surprised there isn't more out there for this kind of upgrade.
Minus the material what was your labor charge thanks
What are the measurements
This is what he said originally “ I’m gonna show you how to install a box window AC in the sliding window!”
This was the best video I found! I am starting this project for my driveway now. Thank you!
Yikes
Hey I’m in Lacey WA would you be able to help?
Draw a circle, draw the rest of the owl.
Bro first thing I said was wtf? I still don’t know how to do it. Only difference is I know his went in smoothly 😂😂😂
ThankU, This is exactly what I was looking for My SailShade Project. Pls let me know how it holds up in windy conditions & if it needs to be unhooked? Love the Background Music Too😎
Had to stop the video because of 💩 music
