Classic Cuban Dish with Cuban Ropa Vieja or Shredded Beef
This Cuban Classic is a must eat. As a Cuban-American, I enjoyed this meal often in restaurants in Miami as well as by the skilled hands of my mother.
1.5 lbs of Flank Steak
Instant Pot ingredients:
water to cover the beef
1/2 cup of dry wine
sprinkling of black pepper, Badia complete seasoning, bay leaves powder or 2 leaves, and cumin
1/4 cup olive oil
Sofrito ingredients:
1 tbsp. of Badia complete seasoning
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. oregano
1 1/2 tsp. crushed garlic
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tbsp. culantro
1 small can of tomato paste
1/4 tsp. bay leaves powder or 2 leaves
1/2 tsp. cumin
2 pks Goya sazon
2 medium chopped sweet onions
1 chopped red pepper

Dried beans are a pain in the ass to reconstitute properly. Canned you can make this from scratch in like 40 minutes.

There is an old American saying, which is, "Patience brings knowledge." Anyone that complains needs to get some manners. Not only do you take the time and make the effort in cooking in sharing but you use your valuable time to share with anyone not requiring them to purchase a cook book and charge for your valuable information of your gourmet Cuban dishes. Hes right. Which is why i choose a way of life eating...and yes that includes a piece of cake at the birthday or the occasional scoop of ice cream....no guilt since nothing is off limits or not allowed. I never use words like compliance.

Hello Dr, from upstate New York and from the Torres and Campistrous family, of Cuba. We were brought up on Picadillo and the many Cuban delicacies you share in your videos. We admire you for sharing your mothers delicacies and your wonderful recipes. My mothers was basically the same as your mother's, we add chopped up potatoes in ours. Papa rellena was one of the dishes we made using picadillo. I love your channel. God bless you Dr and thank you for sharing passed down recipes that are priceless ... PS from watching your videos the subscriber gets a sense of how much your love for your mother and her influence on your cooking resonated with your passion to duplicate these outstanding dishes...

Hi Dr, Michael again, I just wanted to share some important information with you. Ingredients as you know are very important. Sadly there are ingredients that are toxic containing high levels of lead and other toxic ingredients found in certain brands. Consumer report just did a study on the brand names that have these deadly ingredients. One brand that failed almost all the different spices such as cumin, and other spices was Walmarts Great Value products. Just wanted to share with you this crucial information. Please check out the food babe on TH-cam she tells you about all the toxic ingredients in foods and Main Brands. Also nonstick teflon pans are also toxic to cook with. Cast Iron and Stainless steel are much better. Thank you....

You can but I like to break up the shells. BTW, a mill makes great Hummus ;)
