28:00 totally agree. Chopin never played his own music the same way twice. Genius is free flowing and the passion and freedom are the only true fuels of excellence. What was written down or recorded are just a snapshot. Just like a photograph of you right now would not contain the nuance of what you are right now. Saw you in Bath 2 days ago, love your playing, always will. ❤
Thanks: that’s kind of you:-)
Went to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall last Friday early 70th birthday present from my son, fantastic performance by all.
Thanks for coming, glad you enjoyed it:-)
Superb ❤
Very entertaining mate, loved it!
@@lurch1e thanks:-) part 2 to follow, a walk around the entire circuit during the main race of the day.
Simple and straight stuff works. My dogs likes it simple my wife also and others and I myself as I digg music it is mostly simple melodic stuff. I do appricate skillfullness a player that will pack 100 notes within in a second but in moderat doses because what to do? Dance? Cuddle? Impossible as it is like an typewriter in turbo mode or that famous german machinegun MG42. i still belive in the beat, rythm a feeling... I could have earned some money of it joining a danceband those guys where all in on this topic their audience wants a good time as simple as that.
40:40 yeah look up who abe saffron was 🚬🥸
18:21 brother dude 😔 have you heard of "the forgotton australians" 🙏 my God. they shipped out all these orphans from the Uk. after ww2. some reports say half a million of them. sent to orphanages and off to work on farms. its absolutely heartbreaking. ☝️ God bless you my friend. 🙏
Yes, I have been watching documentaries on Australian history. Cruel in the extreme.
oh 😳 youve been and gone... survived to tell the story 🙏
I really enjoyed it! Thankfully I was able to make the time to wander around talking to myself (and my GoPro) so I have these memories preserved.
the sharks usually keep the crocodiles away that far south 😬 so you wont have to worry too much. 🙏 have a great time , wait til you get to queensland 🚬🥸
We had a great time in Queensland (see video diary entries for Tweed Heads and Brisbane on this playlist.) Back home now, just catching up on my editing.
I saw the Tubular Bells show in Newcastle NSW. Absolutely fantastic! Did you take any video while you were there?
@@evanhugo2878 thanks:-) I can’t remember but will check
Jay, I like your description of sensing the feeling of each scale degree and the recognition that the way we feel these things is very personal. Also the mention of synesthesia - a fascinating subject in itself.
@@GuitarTraveller thanks:-)
Your dreaming obviously, musical expression is musical expression full stop, sometimes it is with vocal accompaniment or sole'y instrumental and or with harmonies etc and sometimes its not....end of report!- btw, it varies in styles/genres too.
My 'dream' has been a 50-year career playing guitar with the likes of Roger Waters, Mike Oldfield, Scott Walker, Suede, and many more. the opinions expressed in my videos are based on that experience.
Absolutely on the money as usual. It's exactly what I say to people. I'm a qualified guitar teacher and spend most of my teaching week explaining complicated concepts because that's what I'm asked to to. I then play good, paid gigs at a weekend and use precisely none of those things because it just isn't what makes the majority of music tick. Having good dynamics, timing, feel and judgement are what matter to other professional musicians.
Hello Jay! Despite my best efforts over the last 30-odd years, I've never been successful enough to be on tour for more than a few days. However, I did go to Sweden to record an album in the 90s and I think a video like this (on VHS no doubt) should have been obligatory viewing for the whole band! Though an experience (Sweden is a lovely place with smashing people), the time was punctuated by disorganisation, in-fighting and substance abuse. A colossal cock-up really! I was the sober, reliable one, which is probably why I still work as a musician. I do enjoy your advice and insights. Keep on keeping on my good man.
Thanks for your kind words:-)
Best advice I've seen in years! 👍👍
Thanks, glad you like it!

I have a number of friends involved in the dark art of turning whatever is happening on stage into something the audience will enjoy listening to. As you say treat them with respect and the World is a better place and you will definitely sound as good as you can be, and in some cases better!
What a rare privilege!

For the steel would you use a proper steel top table with pedals?
Yes. I have a ZumSteel pedal steel but if I didn’t I’d use a combinationn of double/string bends and a volume pedal
it sounds good & very-well recorded. what did it sound like before you added the tracks you recorded ?
I think I play it as it came to me at the beginning of that section of the video.
