This show does suck at explaining racism, and it also sucks at making racial episodes, but one thing for sure is that this episode is half great, but most of it comes from the fact that LOS ANGELES wasn't founded until 1940s, because it was still part of mexico, so this episode doesn't belong in the Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, it actually belongs in El Chavo Animado, because hispanic slaves didn't become free until the late 1890s to the early 1900s! So hispanics are way worse off than african americans, because at least in the mid 1800s, black people were free from slavery! 😔🤨😡😡

WHY DOES THIIS SHOW SUCK AT EXPLAINING RACISM?!!!! I grew up on shows like static shock and that did a better job at addressing racism. However, The best Kids show I've seen that Tackles racism is: "my little pony friend-ship is magic!" In an episode in the very first season, the character of Zecora is discriminated against because she is a zebra. Even the six main characters discriminate against her. But then the character of Apple Bloom opens up to Zecora and the two end up becoming friends. Then later the six Main characters open up to Zecora and overtime the rest of Ponyville recognize her as normal. The reason why I think it works is you can imagine Zecora as anybody who is different. White Black or Brown.

I feel sorry for him and his elbows. But if that's the only reason he turned to crime, couldn't he have just gotten one of those prosthetic implants on each arm? Or maybe some kind of elbow transplant from a late donor? I know it's probably expensive either one, but it's better than villainy, no doubt.

I think episode was a bit unfair to Barry. I mean he did not respond maliciously. I saw this episode was another one of those white shaming episodes, ugh, This is why I don’t watch too many black shows nowadays, because most of their tacos on racism always seems to be more of a stab towards white people. Now granted this episode is not preachy as other episodes that tackle racism and honestly I still think lost of innocence is worse.

The episode had controversial points. But ultimately it’s message it tried to deliver is right We have to take account of the injustices that made history. It’s true Lincoln did want to deport African Americans as he had his own prejudices in the beginning. He always hated slavery nevertheless. Even as he believed at the time, African Americans and White Americans couldn’t get along. He met with Frederick Douglas and discussed how African Americans should leave after they’re freed. Douglas tried to change Lincoln’s perspective by persistently keep trying to see things from his way. The Civil War changed Lincoln’s outlook. As the long war changed his heart and saw what the war was really for. It was how he used the Emancipation Proclamation, at the time only applying to Confederate States, as Border and Allied Slave States could have defected to the Confederacy But it’s intention was to change the cause of the War, which Union Solders now have the authority to free slaves in Confederate Territories Later ratifying the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery everywhere; which Lincoln worked tirelessly to make it happen before his death, and 14th Amendment, granting citizenship to the freed slaves, which sadly had limited results with Reconstruction, as the former Confederacy changed strategies and found ways to preserve their ideals and make it at the time legal, combined that the Union at the time after Lincoln, was too tired of the War to make more of an effort; which made the struggle of people of color persist today. What made this episode so powerful is how it resonates with recent events that divide people. Some points in this episode, were controversial and should be told in another way. Although at the time it was made, it’s hard not to be. Still what is right, is how Emily’s story needed to be told, the town needs to take account of its history, and to inform how Emancipation didn’t come right away. How Reconstruction was undermined and to this day isn’t fully complete. Things are better, but there’s still ways to go, for minorities of all kinds.
