I miss this version of Yu-Gi-Oh

Say what you will about zexal, but it was the only installment in the series where the mc doesn't start off op. Yuma's evolution from a complete amateur to a good player happened slowly and was believable

Yuma is my favourite Yu-Gi-Oh protagonist. Mostly for the fact that unlike the protagonists before him which was Yusei, Jaden and Yugi. Yuma is a complete and utter rookie who attacked with hardly any kind of plan in mind. And when he meets Astral he starts to get better. Sure Yuma doesn't always listen to what Astral says but on more times he does. By the end of the world Duel carnival when Yuma has his rematch with Kite, Astral notices that Yuma has made every move by himself and even told him that. Showing that Yuma was improving without Astral needing to tell him what move to make. I like this fact that Yuma is a rookie at the beginning and by the end of Zexal she's able to properly stand by the side of Yugi, Jaden and Yusei who came before him. This little fact adds more growth to Yuma's character.

Personally, Zexal was probably the best Yugioh series for me, i remember watching it on tv and i found it on Hulu and decided to rewatch it, i forgot how amazing it was The character designs and how the story got better and better and becoming dark later on, just beautiful and great Idc what anyone says, its the best yugioh series in my book

Zexal wasn't the best, but it was still good. The show is mainly about a kid who started off as an amateur, makes new friends, faces new challenges, and strives to do his best, even when he knows he can't do it, but gives it his all, anyway.
