Curious which app has best property line reliability that you could use in court if needed?
Hard to say honestly. OnX was the originator…say they may be the best???
Hmm, so far, I've found HuntStand to give things you said they didn't. In western states, I'm considering I've had no problem finding various gmu's. I've highlighted them, then highlighted public land, which they each other. They have an attachment layer that gives you waypoint info. I don't believe it's Eastern focused at all. IMHO.
That’s great! As I try to point out, technology changes fast and a software update by any of these companies can make a big difference. In the past, one could only use 1 layer at a time…and…the GMU info was a mess. But, glad they’ve made improvements. Best of luck this season!
It's the same time of the rut
Best of luck this season!
Yep, should be fun!
Harvest time..aka harvest moon
Best of luck this season!
Come on dude spit it out enough with the Mmm and ahh's
Hah! Mmm…ahhhh….mmm…ahhh….😃 Best of luck….mmmm….ahhh…this season!
Strickland is right! If moon phase was to be true it would be year round! Moon phase theory is activity based not seasonal like you suggest. That is for human thought! Not deer activity. The magic days are the same every year rut activity happens the same every year and you see that during fawn drop every year. But interesting Thanks.
One of Stricklands studies had a total of 6 bucks during the rut…6. And they based their moon findings on that. Too small of a sample size and I don’t believe they have looked at overhead/underfoot. Strickland states it sooo definitely that it makes it less convincing for me. All that said, I don’t hunt the moon…I just hunt. Best of luck this season!
Nowhere in your criteria do you list battery life.
Yes, that is because battery life is based on the type of batteries one uses (lithium or alkaline), and the individual settings: video or photo, photo bursts #, image quality setting, etc. etc.). So, there are simply too many variable for a company to advertise that unfortunately. Thanks for the question. Best of luck this season!
Jx3
Thank you for informing me of the ridiculous prices.. to think ur only bying half of a climber and need to by the accessories to even climb the tree?? This is the perfect example of why I stopped bow hunting 10 years ago.
Well, one can bowhunt for pretty cheap these days. I can’t imagine giving it up because of the prices of something that I’d never use…but whatever. Lots of folks hunt from the ground or a ground blind. Some treestand set ups aren’t too expensive. Hopefully you find the passion for it again someday.
First time I've seen someone break down their purchasing decisions for hunting gear like I do. Love the video, earned yourself a subscriber!!
Thanks for the feedback and support! Best of luck this season! Also, I’ve got a podcast on the Sportsmen’s Empire network if you’re interested. Thanks again,
Thanks for this.

Great information
Thanks for the feedback and support! Best of luck this season
Good freaking job Lorenzo and crew. Y’all have built a badass business. Happy to see the success for you guys good luck this season 👍🏻
They’ve built a nice platform for hunters for sure.
What’s the best app for property boundaries/public land? Don’t need all the fancy features…..
Hard to say which one is the most “accurate”. But if you want to keep it cheap, I’d try BaseMap for $35 a year…assuming that’s still the current price.
What did you choose?
You know…that’s a good question. Ultimately, I stuck with my old saddle and just made some mods with the pouches. I enjoy going through the process of evaluating the options within a specific category. It can be overwhelming a bit until one starts to draw comparisons on a spreadsheet. Thanks for the question and best of luck this season!
Agree with the RZR for #1. Bought one a few weeks ago and I have had 4 sits with it and the only improvement could be with rope they supply with it. Not a fan as it is stiff and just don't like the feel. I use the amsteel USA Pro Series as it bite great with the RZR. They have great products and knocked it out of the park with this platform.
I had the H2 Hotshot for my first saddle and it was very high quality. The triad bridge is an upgrade as it come with a webbing bridge. Still it’s a very nice saddle.
Awesome! Glad to hear it. Best of luck this season!
Solunar Major and Minor are posted for each day. Easy to find. I am a Red Moon Sub and it is pretty darn accurate.
Great! Best of luck this season!
@@HuntDetail Thank you sir! You too!
I love On X🖤🖤🖤🖤
I've read a lot of results of deer collared with GPS studies. It's clear in those results that moon phases and moon under foot and overhead had no effect on deer movement. I've been fortunate to be able to hunt all most every day of the archery season for over the past 20 years, and I hunt in 5 different states. For many years I compared the moon under foot and overhead to deer movement I experience, and I found no influence one way or the other. But what I have noticed is weather has more effect on deer movement than anything else does. Many of the well-known hunters who do believe in some type of moon influence have also said weather trumps everything. I also believe hunting pressure, lack of scent control, and noise can influence deer movement way more than the moon can.
I dont necessarily disagree. To be clear, I’m not suggesting that anyone use the moon to hunt. This is simply a guide for those that do. That said, the studies that I’ve examined male deer during the rut have such a small number of deer…that’s I don’t think one can draw conclusions. Also, they seem to focus on moon phase…not overhead and underfoot…because they don’t seem to understand the concept. Thanks for the feedback and support. Best of luck this season!
While not a dedicated hunting app, Gaia GPS should be something you look at too. I mountain bike and so TrailForks is a must have for me. I got the Outside+ bundle that comes with Gaia and TrailForks. I was pleasantly surprised with Gaia, and it's what I use now.
You legend, thanks for this vid. subbed!
Hah! Thank you for your support! Best of luck this season!
So Mark says x-amount of days before N/M in October, i have set out last 2yrs, do to neck issues and surgery, i put in for last week of October on reason being last year bucks were moving in the day light. I can't do mornings hunting until 9/9:30 . So what do you and or Mark suggest changing vacation to before October full moon or move it to November before full moon?
Ehhh…that’s a good question. Honestly, if I have vacation…I’m taking it when I feel most confident that the weather is going to cooperate more than anything…and I think Mark would say the same thing. I believe moon is part of the equation but for me…would not supersede the moon. I think that the Nov. full moon is Nov. 13th. The week leading up to that date is likely a banger. I think I’d personally prefer those dates over October.
@@HuntDetail Thanks for insight 👍 will consider one year I took first week of November and had a TALL EIGHT POINT at 20yrds, and because it was my first time with a crossbow limb slightly tap a sapling 🥺 liv and learn.
I use Wendy's It's great
Half a climber for twice the cost? What the hell are these scam artists thinking?
Well, it’s a smaller platform to fit into a pack instead of a much larger…standard climber platform. Personally, I would prefer a custom saddle climber platform over buying a standard climber. Also, there are a lot of hunters who’ve never owned a standard climber…so this would be their first of this style. Anyways, thanks for your feedback.Best of luck this season!
This is super helpful. Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback and support! Best of luck this season!
My current cellular trail camera got stolen (bushnell cellucore). I loved the onX hunt app, but (my camera at least) has no gps tracking. Now I am considering who has the most anti theft features & leaning a bit towards Spartan Golive 2. They know what they doing with the security features & the internal battery. Data seems expensive so I think I need to look at going to a carrier myself. But the spypoint flex seems to have great image quality & priced better so I'm not sure yet.
Ok. Best of luck this season!
Thanks , want to go to cellular . Watch youtube ! alot says 80 foot range will not get it . fast trigger speed missed the first picture (3 picture burst ). Still don't know what I want ? Am looking hard at the tactacam but now will check out the moultrie too .
Thanks for the feedback and support. Keep in mind…some people love Tactacam…some don’t…same with Moultrie. Warranty, customer support, and the app they have matter. Hopefully whatever you choose works well. Best of luck this season!
I think if you use the actual ratio of comparison of two number and divide the cutting surface number by the penetration, then multiply by 100 you could use you data to equate the expected momentum loss during penetration of your test medium. Here are the numbers I came up with: Dead meat: 16% Whitetail special: 13.6% Sevr 2.0: 9.18% Sevr 1.75: 6.6% Rage Hypo: 10.4% Mega Meat: 17% I’m actually going to figure a way to put this into my penetration calculator I’ve been working on. Thanks for the idea. Great work on the video.
Yes, there are a million ways to create data for these beyond penetration. Glad you like the video. Best of luck this season!
@@HuntDetail I based mine off of an army research project for penetrating armor, it’s not perfect but it has some predictive capability.
$500 for half a climber is absolutely ridiculous and robbery, they can keep all of them. I'M OUT 🤑
Best of luck this season!
The problem im having off the bat is youre basing a lot of the cutting edge versus the actual wound channel size. For example, if an expandable is using two inch and a half blades, thats not making a 3 inch cut because the geometry of those swept back blades means the wound channel has to be smaller. Thats why nc hypodermic rage broadheads are only advertised as 2 inch cuts. Thats the actual cut diameter despite the total amlunt of exposed edge being more than 2 inches.
I understand. For me it’s a way to objectively metric these heads. I believe that my calculation illustrates which head is marginally better than another because on the surface…they all seem pretty good but the metric can’t just be penetration. In a more recent video, I compare the Beast to the Sevr. Both are advertised as having 2 inch blades. The calculation I use there also includes the inches from tip to tip…this accounts for the degree with which the blades sweep back. You can find it below. All that said, I appreciate your feedback and support. Best of luck this season! th-cam.com/video/repujC5TxFc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zl8p_-i-4_W4khc0
Thanks boss great review
Thank you for your feedback and support! Best of luck this season!
That's the problem with those gel blocks the blades never seem to function correctly
Well, it’s a great equalizer with these broadheads. Of course ballistic gel isn’t the same as the flesh of a big game animal…but it allows for one to see how these heads might perform. Best of luck this season!
I saved a bunch of money and just started using the bottom section of my summit... Plenty of room, grips a tree like crazy, already familiar with the system. Why would I buy something I already have ? The hunting industry is already flooded with crazy crazy high prices on everything else.
That’s great! This video is intended for those that don’t already have a climber or want a smaller platform. But, at the end of the video, I do mention old climbers as an option. Best of luck this season!
Windy is an awesome app. It had so many features, no ads despite it being free, and so customizable I needed to set up an account to store my settings. Its also cool that it stores the settings on a desktop if you log into the Windy website. It could use a little fine tuning in its accuracy but if they get that improved its an awesome app. It just takes a little bit of a learning curve because the forecast tile has so much information but not much labeled on the daily forecast. As for Wunderground, I used to love this app but IBM just doesn’t seem to have any interest in supporting it much. Its gone several years with no change or additional new features and all updated were reserved for its sister app TWC. Very disappointed with Wunderground as of late.
You are correct ... need to get hands on to make a real decision. Unfortunately, for most of us it is not possible to get hands on every model out there. And that's what makes your reviews so good. Looking online at the various different models, designs, harnesses and closure systems ... I thought that Badlands and Marsupial were leading the pack with the front open magnet designs. That you have selected Badlands as your new No. 1 says a lot. Thanks.
Thanks for your feedback and support! Best of luck this season!
Great review !
Thank you!
Your paper analysis provided low scores for some of the most comfortable saddles I've owned and used. That's why it's nice if people can go to shows or stores and try saddles out. It's hard to get a "feel" for a saddle when just reading about it. I hope you're able to find a new saddle that fits your needs. *The Hunt Arsenal Cloud is like hunting out of a hammock. Although I don't love the web-based bridge, its all-day comfort is hard to beat. *The Overwatch Outdoors Transformer is like a favorite pair of jeans that just fits right every time. Where other saddles require multiple adjustments to dial in comfort, the Transformer automatically takes care of it with the auto-sliding webbing and D-loops. *The Timber Ninja Black Belt Ultimate is everything you want in a saddle but aren't willing to pay for. The inside of the saddle is padded and I don't get any hip pinch. It is a saddle I reach for during all-day rut hunts, and I do mean all-day in one tree without getting down. *I owned and sold the CGM Cobra. It's a good saddle and one of the best companies on your list, but I generally find two-panel saddles more comfortable than one-panel saddles.
That’s great! Glad you’ve had a great experience with those saddles and those respective companies. As I point out, like most folks, one can usually only go on specs and videos/pics when making decisions…hence my approach in this video. I do recommend folks go to the Mobile Hunter Expo…but also for them to know what they are looking for first…otherwise it can be overwhelming. Thanks for the feedback and support. Best of luck this season!
Thank you for taking the time to do this video .
Thank you for your feedback and support! Best of luck this season!
Loved the video, subbed. I may test that bowmar head out. They are pretty expensive, but look pretty awesome. I've shot the sevr head a lot. They do the job.
Thanks for the feedback and support. Yeah, I was impressed with the beast. I’m still going to use Sevrs as well…and going to try the megameats. Who knows…they’re all good…just fun trying new things out.
"Comparison is the thief of joy."
Yes it is…but somehow comparing hunting gear brings me more joy!
I love G5 broadheads, however this year I am going with a B3 2 blade exo 125g.
I also got a three pack for $20 so if they break oh well.
I heard Osprey LAA has concerning issues. The design currently cannot handle the load when stood on?
I haven’t heard that. I certainly hope that’s not the case. Regardless, most of these products are relatively new and it wouldn’t surprise me if Osprey or any of them do have some issue that becomes evident over time. Best of luck this season!
@@NathanFryMicronesia / TheBudgetSportsman you received a Lean Ascent for free to do a review. You rushed a test, claimed an issue and it took you 2 months to send us the information so we could make a proper safety assessment and take any potential action in case of a "safety issue". Now that we finally have the information: you stepped on the lean ascent without your tether on, didn't secure your feet in the foot loops, and now claim we have a safety issue because the platform "fell out from under you". Not to mention you never read the instructions. If you do that and put all the pressure to the bottom of the tree, especially with a steep angle upward, any climber or climbing platform will "fall from under you". It happened to me with both of my climbers and we were using linemans rope for safety at the time. EVERYONE: please read and follow equipment instructions: make sure you are attached to the tree before stepping on any climbing equipment, and when designed, secure your feet in the equipment immediately, which will also ensure you have the right position on the equipment.
@AntlerAddict The Lean Ascent has been tested per the TMA standards by one of the only two US accredited companies. I believe it is the only one. Can you please reach out to us so we have chance to review those "concerning issues". We haven't heard anything from our customers. Thank you
Thank you for the review. It is the first time we see a comparison based on a variety of criteria. The category will keep evolving and there is sun for everyone. Good luck this season!
You’re welcome. Agreed, I think the innovation in this space is great and as I mention in the video, I believe mobile hunters should keep an eye on all of these companies. Best of luck this season!
The Grim Reaper only had 2 blades open sp wouldnt you need to base your wound channel performance in this case off the 2 blades, not 3?
It was a judgement call. I penalized for only having 2 blades open with a lower ranking…but I realize that all 3 blades may open most of the time…therefore, I gave it a full WCR score based on 3 blades. I don’t disagree with you though…just want to try to be fair.
The Barron Ridge Stands are not tube steel.
How would you best describe the construction.
@@HuntDetail it’s aluminum tube. I own 3 of them because I’ve tried the others and none compare IMO. There is no fiddle factor and they are extremely light and climbing is simple.
Ok…so aluminum tubing…not steel. My primary point was not the type of material but the deign…it’s just not for me. I’m glad you like them…I think it’s great that there are companies like Barren Ridge. Best of luck this season.
Regarding fire maple not being stable on the burner. It has notches on the rim that are meant to lock cup into place. If not aligned properly it will be flimsy.
Yes. I’m aware. And yes, it was still flimsy. Most burners have that sort of set up…I was disappointed that Fire Maples was more sturdy.
This guy seems bias against Spartan. Spartan has come so far and offers more features in a small amount of time.
Well, their initial version wasn’t very good. It really wasn’t. The latest updates are much better. They now have western units, a desktop version, etc, etc. There is an updated review and they jumped up quite a bit. th-cam.com/video/I6mKTOjnhAs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VzL4OoVERFvZr8A_
This is crazy, i just downloaded Spartan and its better and more festure rich than these ones that have been around forever.
