    Thank you for the great videos! Loving it here in western Washington. Should have moved here sooner. Question: What is a decent metal detector that you would recommend for under 300? And What is the pin-point pen device called? Sorry, just getting into this metal detecting thing. Be safe.

      I would recommend the Garrett Ace 300 for a great beginners metal detector. The Pinpointer we use is the same brand. Glad you are enjoying the videos. Good luck out there!

    These vids are awesome you guys. I’ve grown up in Bellingham and my dad and I are into a lot of the same stuff. We used to go find and explore old mining camps and ghost towns. The last couple of years I have gotten into metal detecting and have found some amazing artifacts and learned a lot about our local history. I’ve been wanting to go find some old logging/pioneer camps, but I don’t know a reliable way to locate them. Old maps have lead me in the right direction but so far it’s been hit or miss. Do you have any researching tips? For example, I found an pioneer town listed on just a couple of maps from the 1910s-20s, and although I know roughly where it is based off of geological features I have not been able to locate its exact location. Keep up the vids I’m very excited to follow along on your adventures!

    I'm a little skeptical that those spikes were used for climbing trees. The bark on old-growth trees the loggers were cutting back then was probably as thick (or thicker) than the spikes are long. Careful handling that old cable. The old-time logger term for sharp threads sticking out of it is "jaggers". Love your videos...I know of an old logging grade in mind that I'm anxious to explore!

    • @detectingourpast15
      @detectingourpast15 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey guys if you ever come across strange or crude copper items watch them closely I read that ancient copper culture items have been found in small amounts in the northwest not so much as the Great Lakes region but enough to warrant further investigation blades spear points harpoon tips fishing hooks there’s even a theory that vessels from Asia could have shipwrecked on the northwest coast and the survivors would integrate into the local natives culture and shared with them the skills on how to perform crude metallurgy
