my version of speech therapy…is music
มุมมอง 317 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hi, my name is Kayla and I have a stutter. Living with this disfluency for years has been pretty tough on my mental health. BUT- I found that music, specifically songwriting, helps me to express myself in ways I feel I've never been able to. In today's video, I talk a little about my experience with speech therapy and the very first song I wrote about my stutter! Hope you enjoy this kind of int...
musicians are overrated?
มุมมอง 4337 หลายเดือนก่อน
Hey world! Welcome to CHATTYBRAIN! My name is Kayla Kristeen and today we're discussing if musicians are overrated. Before you start, there are MANY benefits of working with musicians, producers, composers, etc. But, sometimes an artist might not have the budget to hire extra help. Learning how to make music yourself even without learning a lot of music theory or learning an instrument- you'll ...

Here's a hint: you don't need to use every single idea or melody you come up with in one song. Making music shouldn't be complicated but it also shouldn't be boring. In today's video, I discuss ways to create melodies that not only s...

The Power Of Repetition (in music): Hey world! Welcome to CHATTYBRAIN! My name is Kayla:) Today's question is: Is repetition genius or lazy? Tune into today's video where we talk about how using repetition in music can either make a song more memorable and catchy OR make it lazy and boring. Having some sort of variation is definitely needed when it comes to this technique- but it also depends o...
the power of introspection in music

The Power Of Introspection (in music): Hey world! Welcome to CHATTYBRAIN! My name is Kayla:) Being able to analyze your well-being, physical and mental state, is, I believe, very important when becoming an artist. You want your fans to connect with you and feel as if they know you at a deeper level. But, before you get there, you have to know yourself and continue to grow in your journey- becau...

being a stuttering artist
มุมมอง 949 หลายเดือนก่อน
Being A Stuttering Artist... Something I thought I could never pursue. But, with the help of my disturbing, anxiety-inducing, and sometimes insane encounters as a stutterer, I have created over 100 songs all about those experiences. And chances are, you or a friend might have a speech disfluency as well! Being in the 1%, I feel I should use my musical gifts to be THAT artist for someone wanting...

I love your videoss! 🤍plus you are so pretty
thank you! and thanks for watching 😊
I'm sorry you had to go through all that of being like a science project I can only imagine how bad it made you felt to just consistently talk and people just stopping you to tell you how to do things. But I'm glad that you're healing from that I think it's amazing how you're embracing it rather than being embarrassed about it. I think your thought process on "there's no magic pill." it kind of the same way I think about life. There's a lot of things I wish could just change but the change starts with how we view things and the fact you're using your story to hopefully show others that they can also find a gem within the rough. And the story behind your first song is amazingly beautiful :) Glad to have found your page and on this journey with you!
thank you so much for your kind words 😭 even though i’m a small creator, i still get a few comments saying how annoying it is to listen to me talk with all the umms and filler words- even though i can’t help it lol. it’s sooo refreshing and beautiful to see people like you enjoy my content for what it is and look past any disfluencies or flaws🖤 i appreciate you
@@CHATTYBRAIN Of course thank you for being so vulnerable to the world to in hopes find other people who have the same issues or find other people who relate to push them to do things they aren't comfortable doing and embrace it!
⭐️I love the message of this video! As long as the product is good - cohesive and heartfelt - the music is valid. Especially if you’re a music producer working alone, like me, it really is okay to use loops and shortcuts within projects. As producers, we shouldn’t feel like we have to play an entire orchestra of instruments to get a message across to other people.
right! sometimes you have to do what you have to do- but you also get bragging points for composing yourself lol
@@CHATTYBRAINtrue true I think it can be really fun to make a combination of loops and my own composed melodies. It can feel like a scientific experiment where you mix and match to find the coolest outcome
I love watching your journey into making music! keep it up girly pop
thank you so much! much love 🖤
This is kind of the journey I'm on right now where im just trying to fond my own way with my music and as an artist. Sometimes I feel discouraged just comparing my journey to other peoples looking at all the tools and knowledge they have. But I've been looking into myself more and enjoying just the process of just having fun and finding my own pattern and being more patient with myself. Music is music so the process in how it's made doesn't really matter. GREAT VIDEO!
yes! definitely don’t forget to have fun during your music journey. it can be stressful, i know, but one day it won’t be 🖤
gonna try to use this to write my first song thank you :)
you’re welcome! i hope you enjoy the process and the outcome 🖤
Love they video, but maybe consider cutting out the filter words like "uhh", "um", etc...
well…i stutter…that’s how i talk 24/7. my whole channel is about being a stuttering creator/artist so why would i cut out when im struggling to speak…? so thanks for the “tip”, but politely, i’ll be keeping my stutters/filler words in🖤
@@CHATTYBRAIN apologises, I didn't know it was intentional. Great video though and i apologise again for pointing it out
thanks for saying that. i’ve cut them out before but now i just want to be as authentic as possible online😊
I love always seeing the process in how people think then it comes to making their own beats and production! It's always just finding your own rhythm and flow with things :)
i LIVE for bts of songs! it’s not only entertaining but it gives you a new way to approach a track or project💫
@@CHATTYBRAIN Yes i completely agree! you can always take things and impliment it in your own practice :)
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
thank uuuuu ☺️
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I'm still learning how to layer my stuff lol There's just so much factors to it and I'm just trying to find my own style GREAT VIDEO!!!
thank you! definitely keep practicing and trying out techniques until you find what you like. you’re style will come! 💫
You know ive had this question a lot I've noticed that like alll the old school 90's and 2000's track the way it just hits my brain all the lyrics and all the musical elements just hits me and i just know lol So I'm trying to learn more about this and make sure i add it in my beats or my songs when writting
you definitely should look into it! using repetition makes our brains VERY happy lol glad you learned something!
This is an interesting question. I think it's lazy if you say the same line for 10 minutes during a 10 minute song. It can be helpful to repeat lines to emphasis the theme of a song. Overall. this is a great video. Good job Kayla.
Exactly my point! Some songs, especially chant songs, it seems like the song has no beginning or end, but I do love a good repeating hook or chorus lol
this video randomly came up on my queue and has enlightened me. thank you❤️😊
ahh! well, glad to have you here lol thanks for watching! 🖤
Another banger, Kayla. Good job. Creating art, especially music can be intimate while also encouraging for others.
exactly! i hope artists can start expressing their trueness in their music, bc the world needs it
thanks for sharing your process!
no problem! thanks for watching :)
as someone who stutter and an artist myself this is very inspiring . so thank you
anytime:)that’s what i’m here for🖤 so happy you liked it
