I've been through opiate addiction and I've been through benzo addiction.. There is no comparison.. Opiate addiction is like the flue and benzo addiction is a fucking nightmare. I had seizures and every emotion was in a bad state to the point where I didn't want to die and I didn't want to live. They should be banned..

I was subscribed Diazepam 20mg when I was also subscribed Zoloft 15 years ago due to a break up. At the time, I only used the Diazepam for sleep after doing Cocaine all night and often offered it to those who shared the Coke. Thinking back on it, it was a crazy time in my life and I wasn’t thinking anything through😂 Definitely not there anymore and never got hooked on it. Heard it’s awful to come off of… Btw, just love Jordan Peterson’s vulnerability

Being on benzos was some of the lowest and darkest moments of my life! I am so careful with them now. I won't take them for more than a day or two at a time now with weeks in between uses. They are a good tool to have on hand for when you really really need it, but being on them long term is a recipe for disaster. And you don't really know the magnitude of this until you feel it on your own skin.

I was taking .5 Clonozepam for over a year. The doctor's office did not get the script over to the pharmacy on a Friday. So no pill for Fri and by Sat afternoon I was in serious withdrawal. I had no idea what was going on. I was sooo sick all Sat night and by morning I HAD to go to the emergency room. Then had to go to detox. They were understaffed and were giving me 2mg of Clon. I asked why they were giving me more than I had ever taken before. They pretty much told me to just take the pills- they knew what they were doing, etc. So I left detox much worse off than ever. These were prescribed by a doctor. So I found out that the benzos built up in my system. Just not having the pills for a day and a half put me into withdrawal. This has been over three weeks and the detox is pretty rough.Still hot flushing and lots of night sweats. Getting up to change several times a night.Headaches, and vertigo. Think real hard before you take one of these pills. Detox, which will have to happen at some point, really is hard. Best wishes to anyone going through it.

I very reluctantly agreed to take anti depression medication at age 42. I went from bad to worse over 7 years on and off them. The side effects were devastating. It was thanks to TRUEHOPE of Raymond, Alberta that I completely recovered from what we discovered was a half century of bipolar disorder. It took 10 years to get the drugs out of my body and the withdrawals initially made me suicidal. TRUEHOPE’s approach was to provide high amounts of minerals, vitamins and amino acids which brought me out of depression very quickly. That was 21 years ago. I’m completely bipolar free and have never had a serious bout of depression since. Most of the time now is spent striving to heal my gut and strengthen my digestive system which is unequivocally connected to moods and nervous system function. I highly recommend the documentary IMPOSSIBLE CURE made by the Discovery Channel in 2000 which depicts how TRUEHOPE was founded and the incredible work that this not for profit is doing.

I wonder how much you have to take to consider one month to be the maximum amount of time to take xanax. I've been taking 0.25mg 3x a day for almost two months. Does that mean I'm gonna have an awful experience quitting? Everyone here took 3mg+ a day for years and I think that's way too much, but now I'm unsure if what I'm doing is gonna make me suffer like that too. Edit: Also, what is long term? I understand that short term refers to 2-5 weeks, but what if I take 0.75mg daily of alprazolam for like 4 months. Is that too much for too long?

20 years on benzos.. tried to cold turkey in a detox facility with seizures meds and spent the next year in and out of psychosis.. got back on them for a few years and then tapered off over an 18 month period.. went from 185 pounds to 120 pounds in a few months and was bed ridden for over 6 months.. have been completely off of them for over 3 years now and I’m still not 100% but doing better and better gradually.. it should be illegal to prescribe benzos long term imo

Benzodiazepines is the evil's drug! I was prescribed this horrible drug! I stopped taking it after taking juts ONE dose. I was convinced that my psychiatrist was working for the devil himself and she was poisoning me. I can't even describe the feeling, like wanting to jump out of your own skin; I don't understand how people use that recreationally. I was also prescribed Ambien and was shown a video of myself acting erratic and crazy in the homeless shelter. I couldn't believe my eyes. I did not remember ever doing what I was doing on video. I even considered that the video may be doctored but the security officers were showing me the actual stored video directly from the servers. The devil's drugs they are. I'm now taking Chai Hu Long Gu Mu Li Pan. So far, so good.

Well if someone has homicidal ideation's because of thier anxiety and internal suffering and benzodiazepines are they ONLY THING THAT WORK for the patient, wouldn't that be counted as DR.'s trying to endanger the public? And let's be honest, the only people that got took off thier meds were mostly white people. White Anglo Saxon Protestant's. The medical community would rather spend more money to put strait white males in a suicide pod instead of prescribing them something cheaper that actually works. I have yet to see a person of color on the news stating thier dr cut them off thier meds cold turkey. Not only do they want you to die, they want you to die miserable. That turns them on sexually.

Pregabalin medication is really hard to reduce/discontinue. I titrated off from 600mg a day. It was myself who requested to come off this medication in the first place owing to be free of all addictive substances, in my life (aside from tobacco). About ten years back I was reassured pregabalin was "not addictive" "may be taken long term". This was a load of rubbish! They later announced the opposite - it was addictive and being used recreationally, and quite widely an all! Had I known of the risks I would have asked my psychiatrist for a safer, non addictive alternative in the first place. I was reduced too quickly and experienced shocking physical withdrawals aside from a weird version of anxiety. I was frequently going to bed with a sick bowl beside the bed as some days and nights I was wretching! Really a horrible experience, I even experienced some 'mild' hallucinations. The fright was similar to the time my illness first set in in 2007. I have since requested that no more 'addictive' medications be prescribed to me unless absolutely necessary, and even then for a short period of time. I mention my status as a "recovering alcoholic" to clarify my overall situation. I am working on my health and recovery from an informed perspective. I have Doctor's and other Professional's advice, and I keep them fully up to date. Please, whatever you do, do not try to discontinue any medications without a Doctor's advice. This could be very detrimental to your health, even a danger to your life! See your Doctor/phone 111 for advice. Try stay safe! God Bless. xxxxx

Apparently, you don’t suffer from panic attacks so much so that your heart is beating out of your chest and you feel like you’re dying and you have to go to the hospital you sound like a person they don’t know real anxiety and what you call anxiety or just normal every day stresses that normal people get you don’t know the real nightmare of real anxiety are you wouldn’t be saying that all medications they have their place people frown at just these mention of control substance. That’s the label that we give it when it should be, just like medicine like everything else that’s called medicine is medicine

Surprisingly enough, being an addict is what kept me from getting 100% addicted to benzos. I'd get (90) 1mg Xanax(Alprazolam) a month. I'd take them all in 2 or 3 days. Seriously. Then, I wouldn't have any the rest of the month. It's the only thing that kept me from being physically dependent. I've taken thousands and thousands of benzos over the years. Some prescribed. Most not. I now notice permanent changes in myself. There's a disconnect between my brain and my mouth. Stay away from these drugs, people. Far, far away. Can't sleep? Order some Kava... 😉
