One of those rides where you contemplate retiring and just trying again another day.

We were lacking impulsion, and I was struggling to keep the forward feeling in all the downward transitions. He was quite rideable though!

TY. You definitely improved my braiding technique. My last FEI show someone said "nice braids" as I walked to the warm up. Jokes on them. I did them up in 20 mins and won every test
Now how do you get them out?
I tried to do this on a hobby horse and it didn't work...I think it was because I made the mane super long when making the hobby horse but I would definitely try this on a real horse!
Thank you for posting and adding the judges comments. You rode this very well.
thanks for posting your video with the test and the comments. Great help!
What was the total score? Your videos are so helpful with the individual scores along with the comments. I’m doing my first recognized this weekend and doing 1-3 and 2-1.
Total score is in the description. This test was a 62%. Good luck this weekend!
Thank you for posting this series. I have a similar horse I'm considering taking out at 2nd so these are very helpful!
I'm so glad you found these helpful! I really find it helpful to watch horses similar to mine, too!
Thanks for posting this my coach just asked my to do first level on a horse I’ve been training I’ve never done frost level before so this is extremely helpful for me to see it I have downloaded the test so as you did the moves I read it on the test. Also omg new letters lol
This is my favorite way to braid. Perfect button braids for dressage, but also wonderful for hunter/jumper or open shows (will just do a larger number of smaller braids, compared to the dressage ones).😊❤👍
Śliczny koń Z warkoczem A boli jak zaplatasz koniu warkocza czy nie
He dances AND sings
go pony, GO! ;)
I love the attitude, classy equestrians can be so intimidating and it made it a lot easier to see someone be more down to earth about it 💛
If they are intimidating, I submit that they are not classy.
Thank you so much! It doesn't look that hard and it looks great!
I know I am suuuuuuupppppppeeeerrrr late! but I tried these on my working hunter pony and they really made her neck look built up and beautiful... I just sprayed them afterwards with a gloss spray and I am using this method from now on! The yarn makes it softer on them also...i used to always use bands but cannot wait to get rid of them now! thank you so much!
So excited to hear they work for you!!
Keep the bands for blowouts and emergencies. I showed with a band as a keeper all season last year :D
Nice plaits, but definitely not dutch scallop plaits. ;) We dutch do it differently.
You are awesome.
This is my favourite video ever!!! I always braid like this now:):) I definitely will get more points from these
I Love this video
I just cut my horse's mane rather than pull it lmao I'm too lazy and she hates it being pulled :/
I needed this! There's no earthly way I would survive pulling my Percheron gelding's mane (I shorten with mat rakes), nor have I any desire to do hunter braids on what seems like a 6' stretch of crest. We are doing some open driving shows and I was in desperate need of a good vid on buttons! Thanks!
Really good job :)
I love your attitude about it. And thank you for the helpful video
Thank you for making this video! I'm going to try this on my mare today.
For even lazier people, roach the mane!
good video hopefully imma get a horse soon :(
Thanks for making this :) I think 'Take a deep breath, it's not brain surgery' may be my new motto ;)
Very pretty! Just a stupid question though- would I be able to get the same results with elastics or would I have to use an altered method?
Elsabe L Beyers I honestly haven't experimented with elastics. My gut feeling is that they wouldn't be able to stay in as well and remain as fluffy without the yarn.
Thanks for the reply- guess I better get handy with a needle then :)
It's easier than you think! Good luck!
Excellent thankyou. Now how do you take them out? ;)
You can find the removal tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/39CeBfhD5e0/w-d-xo.html
^^^ same
one of the plastic letter openers also works great to cut the yarn
