Ride on Mena
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 14 มี.ค. 2020
This channel shows the great motorcycle riding and other activities in Arkansas (specifically near Mena). Combining my love for motorcycles and the beautiful state in which I live, I have created videos of my rides and activities while exploring our corner of the world. Sometimes our adventures extend much farther than Mena which I also include in this channel.

Today we went up to Eagle Mountain. Great views from up there and a little bit of a rough road getting there.. It was a nice day and we got to see the valley from up high.
Exploring With Moose and Mindy - #4 We Love Creeks

Part of being an explorer is making sure you do a thorough job. Especially when it comes to the creeks. You have to really invest some time in their investigation. This video is just a montage of some of our creek explorations. This is for all the dog lovers out there that enjoy seeing happy dogs.
Exploring with Moose and Mindy #3 - Bee Mountain
มุมมอง 3013 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today we went up to Bee Mountain which is an old ranger station (fire watch). It has been about a year since we had been up there, so I decided to check up on the place. Bee Mountain is one of the popular places to visit when trail riding around here. It's a pretty interesting trail as well.
Exploring with Moose and Mindy #2 Not that Way!

Well we came back to the same forestry road we explored in the first video. This time we went straight instead of turning right. A new discovery! Well...... probably won't go that way again.
Exploring with Moose and Mindy #1

We go out almost every day for a hike. It keeps us all grounded and we get exercise. During the summer we use the buggy more and can cover larger areas of territory. Today we found a pretty interesting trail off of one of the Forestry roads.
ROM VL#72 Frankenbike Part 3

Crossed a significant hurdle on the project bike! Now it's getting exciting. Hopefully not costing very much more... Once I Iron out some details it may be n the trails soon.
ROM VL#71 Breakfast at Pam's
มุมมอง 594 หลายเดือนก่อน
We needed Wind Therapy and we were hungry. So it's just makes sense to hop on the bikes, ride on the Talimena Scenic Byway and go to Pam's Hateful Hussy Diner for breakfast. The ride was nice and cool over the top of the mountain, but got warm quickly when we got to Pam's. It's definitely Summer! But anytime on the bike is a great time.
ROM VL#70 Frankenbike Part 2
มุมมอง 366 หลายเดือนก่อน
Some progress has been made on the bike. I sepnd a lot of time waiting on parts... Two steps forward and one step back.. However, I am finally very near getting the motor back together and much closer to the day where I can attemot to start it. It's getting exciting! This is an update on the progress.
ROM VL#69 Spring Has Sprung
มุมมอง 217 หลายเดือนก่อน
Well, we are 4 days before the big eclipse in 2024. Spring is coming out in a big way and we'll soon be rushing into summer. We were out on one of our hikes and just wanted to share our experience. I hope you are enjoying spring and have nothing but happiness and joy.

Introducing "Frankenbike"... I have a project bike. It's a 1980 Suzuki DR400S. It's in non-running condition and I am going to bring it back to life (That's confidence). It will take some time as there are a lot of parts missing and all are dirty.
ROM VL#66 Ready to Ride
มุมมอง 448 หลายเดือนก่อน
The new clutch packs are in both bikes now and we are on a test run. The run was successful and we are now ready to ride again! Hopefully there will be a lot more rides in 2024 and beyond (before another clutch pack).
ROM VL#65 Recovery Mission
มุมมอง 179 หลายเดือนก่อน
Well, I couldn't let it rest... We went back up to Buck Knob Towers to look for the receiver I lost earlier this week that goes to my brand new wireless microphone system that I was testing that day. I already ordered a replacement, but I just had to go look....
ROM VL#64 Buck Knob Towers
มุมมอง 649 หลายเดือนก่อน
ROM VL#64 Buck Knob Towers Today is a 72 degree day in February! This, of course, means we need to get outside. We hop in the buggies and take a ride up to Buck Knob towers. This is north of Mena in the same area as Fourche ("Foose") Mountain Trails. We are traveling to the Buck Knob Towers, for the first time. When we had the rental business we had rented some buggies to a company that maintai...

Mena is the best!
It’s always beautiful there. This is one of our favorite rides to do.
@1:08 👉 Bible on his dash! Righteous! 🙏♥️🇮🇱🇺🇲✡️✝️🐧🌵
LOL. Thanks.
Yea dude that road was really spectacular and narly. And then to munch down on some tasty binge eating food products is awesome.
Love the road you were on! I'm in Panama City and we don't have roads like that here. I ride a '15 plasma green Magnum.
One of the reasons we moved here were the roads. Nice to hear from a fellow Victory owner. We love ours.
Great start. Audio needs some help. Very low. Good job Mike.
There were some audio issues as well as others... Hoping the other videos come out better.
Moved to Mena this year I have learned a lot about the trail’s and roads from your videos I absolutely love it here
I glad I could help. That makes my day!
I think it’s an old slate mine. For some reason they felt the need to go through the mountain instead of going over it
Pam Ferguson with Ouachita ATV club, (Facebook group) has a really nice map that will show you several loops to ride from WPG up to Fouche Mountain and also down to Cossatot Falls. Also available at most campgrounds around the trails or some of the AirB&Bs that are rented around. None of the trails are difficult so its a nice place for riders who don't like technical stuff.
does this park have a sound restriction as far as exhaust goes? that you may know of
All national forest have sound limits and spark arrestor guidelines. I have never seen anyone getting checked but overly loud exhaust and really loud stereos are disrespectful to the residents and some have complained to the Forest Rangers. We don't need the trails taken away due to small things like that.
@@setx2010teryx ah okay makes sense
Great job with 47K! You nailed it! The video was beyond most great job on that too, Mike. Any landing without harm to humans or aircraft are good, you did an exceptional landing there.
Thanks I appreciate that.
watch your head going thru that cave, i hit mine pretty good getting up from the low spot, doesn't feel good at all!
Do you have to trailer your rig to the trail head or is it ok to drive it there from Polk rd 42 and Polk rd 44
As long as your within reason from the trail system you can ride to them. Just don't act like a fool and drive respectable.
Hwy 7👍👍👍!
WPG trails suck its just riding on dirt roads
Thanks for the ride! Happy Easter. Sorry your head got "big"!
LOL, happens with my jeans too. They shrink in the closet. Happy Easter to you too.
ironic, we were just talking about Bee Mountain when you posted this. haven't been there yet but on the list for an april trip. been on Eagle Mountain a couple times, but always stopped at the lookout just below tower, never went on to the top. have to add that to the list too. there is also a cool fire tower on our list that we haven't done. 34.38780385697403, -94.04276032700784
That's funny, my nickname in high school was "Roscoe". That was my first time to each mountain as well. Highly recommend the top of Eagle. Even though it's only a few feet higher, the view is fantastic. At this time the video is still processing for HD and 2k. I should have waited to publish until that was done. The views will look a lot better once the High Def processing is finished.
Update 3/6/2021: The trails are open at Wolf Pen Gap. The 2021 Season has started! Beautiful warm day. Not a cloud in the sky.
So jealous. We live just below Waco TX, so not much in local riding opportunities. Hoping to get up to mena in April. That would have been a fun time to try to go on Eagle Mountain. Nice vid
Well, April should be a good time to come up. Hopefully, it will be less wet... LOL
🏆🏆🏆👍🙏 Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. The weather is starting to turn. Hope to get out there more (Flying, Riding, Trails, etc.).
My utv is street legal. Can I use it on the roads in arkansas. Am I required to by a trails sticker for arkansas?
I was told you can use your UTV outside city limits as long as you are "going to the trails". I would assume if you had land and you were moving from one area to another via a road that would be ok as well. However, I have not done any research on the law so I can't say this is actually a fact. I think for the most part you won't be hassled. But for me I would stay off highways as much as possible, because of the volume and speed of traffic. You could get run over easily. I bought my UTV new and in Arkansas you pay the sales tax on UTV/ATV at the finance office and they told me I had to have the sticker. So I got one. From what I have seen so far, I am the only one with a sticker on the trails... LOL I think technically you are supposed to have the sticker, but I have never seen anyone pulled over or cited for not having one. I didn't even know about it until I had to register mine. If I had bought it used I would have probably never known about it... Of course, in these times I need to say "I can't provide legal advice, I am not qualified to provide legal advice"... But personally I don't think the sticker is a major concern.
Glad you’re finally getting to follow your dreams Pops! Looking forward to the cockpit footage! 💗
Will get to see all of my mistakes... LOL
Cool video Dad! That scenery on your walk was so pretty. And Max is practically a horse he’s so tall!!
Thanks. Yep he is a 84 lb puppy... Only 20 more pounds to go and he'll be all grown up.
Yikes SNAKE!
Boo! lol
Gorgeous
Not a bad view for a morning stroll....
🏆🏆🏆😊🙏 Thank you for sharing.
You're welcome. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Used your video as a reference for how to get there! Unfortunately, the steep climb on the trail that’s washed out at the beginning kept us from going up due to some nervous riders haha. It’s washed out a lot more since we went to it years ago. Hopefully another path will made by riders through the trees to avoid the wash out.
Yes, that last bit to get up to the mine can be a little daunting, LOL. The first time I just told myself these side-by-sides were made to do this and just went. It was a little scary. It's pretty rough.
We experienced the same thing on our last trip. We watched several UTV's scratch up the side of their machines trying to get up that steep part, and we just didn't want to do it to our machines. We walked it from there. Surely a new path will get created to get there without going through that.

That is an old Shale Mine, there are still a few of the tracks left up there. This is also an illegal trail to be on, if you are caught there you will be given a ticket. If it is not marked on the map as a trail in Wolf Pen Gap, it is illegal to be on it.
Will you please provide the source of your information? Thanks.
I don't know how that can be. I have never seen that anywhere, and in fact the WPG Campground loves to promote "stop by our store and we'll show you how to get to the mine".
Are you running the stock tires on your ranger. I just got back from riding wolf pen gap and had concerns about the stock tires on the real rocky trails.
No I am not. I did one ride on the factory tires and then put on a 3 inch lift kit and different wheels and tires to gain more clearance. I wasn't worried about the stock tires at the time, but I wanted to change. As far as I know they would have done fine, but they did wallow a bit on the county roads at higher speeds. I put on some ten-ply DOT rated tires and have been really pleased with them (no troubles so far). This is the tire and wheel deal I went with and so far am very pleased, kgpowersportstuff.com/products/gbc-kanati-mongrel-wheel-kits. I have only had them for about 2 years (about 6 - 7 trail rides) but them seem to do very well on the trails and on the county roads. I see no signs of wear on them yet. You can enter you make and model of Ranger and it will help you select for your Ranger.
Great job its a old mine probably not a cave
I agree, the opening looks too square to be natural. I called it a "cave" in my first video, but it does look more man-made. However, I didn't notice any tool marks on the inside, but my flashlight wasn't the best. I am getting a new one for the next trip... :-)
🏆🏆👍💖
Thanks!
Very cool Mike. Carl said I need to check it out on his Oculus.
Thanks! Hopefully the resolution will be better on the next one. I am still learning....
