Everywhere online I look, it says it is impossible to transfer to home if the mew is caught on a non Japanese emerald cartridge (the event was only officially distributed in Japan), yet you seem to have done it. I'm wondering if that information is false or if I'm missing something

The only way to get the Unown Mirage Caves now is modding your 3DS and getting either Pretendo, or Netpass, and you still can with normal StreetPass. The only way it wouldn’t work after shutdown, would be if it was spotpass. Nintendo shutdown spotpass, not StreetPass. StreetPass doesn’t have any online components to it, fun fact.
