Hang Gliding has been on my radar for a while and finally I found the time to fully engage in this incredible life-on-air experience. Here I'll show you my step-by-step learning path full of great tips from my instructor Steve Wendt and myself. From to hero I hope you'll join me on my new passion. Cheers!

Moyes Malibu 2 166 - Hang Gliding at Blue Sky Flight Park Virginia.
มุมมอง 32111 หลายเดือนก่อน
Finally, I flew my Moyes Malibu2 166 wing that came from Australia almost two months ago. Transitioning from the Wills Wing Alpha 180 to the Malibu2 was an interesting experience. First of all, I must say that I totally love this new glider. ON the tow it felt a little bit different than the Alpha but not ridiculous, on the landing, though, a complete different thing. The zoom control frame, th...

Two short truck tows. Went up tp 1250 ft on the first one. Still flying the WW Alpha 180. My Moyes Malibu 2 166 has arrived from Australia and is being set, meanwhile I'm working on my transition to a different glider. I can't wait to take my Malibu up to the skies. I'll keep you posted guys. Please subscribe and comment! Thanks y'all for the support! Woody Valley Harness: (for first time buyer...
Hang Gliding - First Truck Tow. New Woody Valley Pod and Icaro Helmet, links in the description.
มุมมอง 1.1Kปีที่แล้ว
My first truck tow at Blue Sky went up to about 1030ft. I was on -as usual- the WW Alpha 180, which is one of the most stable and forgiving gliders out there. Wind was not helping but like I mentioned in the video it was a perfect day for my first truck tow. getting familiar with the process is a must and although it looks quite complex at first glance, it is not. My first two flights were unzi...

Its been a while since I released my last video. I've been actively flying but didn't have enough time for posting. But here I am. Flying on the WW Alpha 180 up to 450 feet. This session has been a refreshment after almost 6 month without flying because of season, weather and other uncontrolled circumstances.

My first time going prone. Flying on Blue Sky's WW Alpha 180. This is an extensive video on my last training before my first Truck Tow. Key factors on it are: altitude judgement, planning, control, and spot landing. I enjoyed every second of my session and felt quite comfortable transitioning from the control frame to the base tube. Also, I ordered my Woody Valley Pod that is to arrive soon and...

Its exciting to share my experience with the world and of course with our hang gliding community. In this video I'd like to remark three crucial factors that, according to my instructor Steve, produced the crash. First and most important, 1. Poor technique and poor judgment, 2. lack of Speed, and of course 3. Altitude. Steve explained that due to lack of Speed, gliders responsiveness decreased,...

I'm making progress. This time I was able to fly up to 150 ft. I confess I was a little bit tense up there at the beginning, but soon I just relaxed, enjoyed the view and focused on my technique. My instructor Steve is always there to help. Anyways, the glider I used (And I believe the one Ill be using from now on, a Wills Wing Alpha 170. Loved it! Stable, responsive and light. Enjoy the ride a...

This lesson was about control and consistency. I went up to 40 feet above the ground and it feels amazing. After my 3rd lesson I had to adjust few things like; hands position on the down tubes, and basically make sure the glider was balanced at take off... This particular glider is a 235 Alpha by Wills Wings and it's pretty stable up in the air. Needless to say, I had a blast and I'm coming bac...

After two successful sessions with an Eaglet, I've got humbled by this new #hangglider. Two weeks have passed since my last lesson, there were lots of things to remember. I'm trying to build muscle memory and this particular glider required more subtle and precise movements. Got a couple of fails but at the end is always rewarding. Subscribe, like, and comment. Lesson #4 is coming soon. See ya!...

I'm committing to #hanggliding. In my first lesson I've learnt a lot and had a successful session. My instructor Steve Wendt showed me the basics of controlling, equipment and most importantly, all safety aspects of this exciting air sport. After a detailed description of a #hangglider I was ready to go. My goal, become a Master Pilot and reach the heights! Follow me in this exciting journey, a...
How long did it take to get cleared to solo?
@@VTSifuSteve I was already getting truck-towed in Virginia for a while. So for me, after a couple of tandem aero tow lessons, I was clear for solo.
Hey Filipp, it looks like you were letting yourself get pulled through the A-frame while the glider was still in the cart (the basetube looks like it was at your belly button before the glider comes off the cart). Malcolm (at Wallaby) said that's dangerous because your glider can potentially nose in and dive into the ground as you release the dolly cart (and I know this from actual personal experience that I fortunately survived). PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE review the "rigid arm requirement" on page 160-161 of Towing Aloft textbook by Dennis Pagen. I've witnessed too many AT launch crashes because pilots are pulling in prior to take off.
@@skeetzoid yes, that was my mistake. will work on that thanks a lot
Hi Filipp. Congrats on your first aerotow solo. -Abraham(Manquin Flight Park)
@@seaportrait9684 thanks Abe.

Yes Sr!
Amazing!!!
Awesome !
Thanks!
Drop down on the bottom control bar pull in and stop stalling the wing
Awesome!!
Glad you are OK! You were having a great lesson until that last flight. Weren't you flying a 180? Why the sudden jump to 235?
Thanks. Has to switch to 235 because the wind was extremely light that day.
at least the alpha is nice and slow and floaty glad youre all good
These frustrating flights are going to make us better and skilled pilots one day! I listened to Steve so much to the point that his voice lives in my head now😂 Enjoy your learning and hope to see you at the park one day🐥
Absolutely!! 😀🎉🍻
Relax that grip! Keep up with the learning.
Looking good. Your life is about to be forever changed.
Thanks Chris!! Cheers!
Don't push dude, bad things come of that, Loosen up your grip. Keep it up. All but a tiny few hang glider pilots had it really hard at first so don't let the setbacks get you down.
Many thanks!
The process is like learning to ride a bicycle since it relies on muscle memory. You're doing an excellent job making turn corrections and flying straight down the runway. The landings are all about energy management, confidence, and technique. Steve is a great teacher and will train you properly and safely. Thank you for posting. I hope to see you at Blue Sky.
Absolutely. That's a valuable advice. thanks a lot bro!
Awesome 👌
