3:24 model ac power adapter?
Nice video... What is the name of that AC adapter?
When using the charger adapter does it still have overheating issues when videoing?
I just bought the 3rd party battery grip for my r8 will be making video about it soon and will show how long the batteries last.
Is it possible to connect the r8 to a v battery using the dr-e18?
Can you tell me which battery grip it is with the link if possible
I just put usbc powerbank in my pocket and can go outside all day long.
I just bought a 20000 mah powerbank with pd for my phone which can also used to charge my Camera and gimbal and my earphones and wait my bicycle lights too.
Thanks man, i wanted to know if the 'Rode Interview Go' also fits the 'Rode ME'. And it is :-)
Glad it was helpful! Yes, it fits all wireless mics from the RODE line-up and also from other brands if it has similar form factor. The clipping mechanism is important to be the same. All the best!
Just got my R8, I put it in airplane mode and it flew away.. 😢 Jk. Thanks for the tips!
✈️ Glad it was useful!
โอเคนะจบ สวัสดี👍🏻
Thanks for the tips :)
Battery grip? Canon did not release battery grips for either the RP or the R8. This means the camera firmware does not know how to use one. The battery compartment lacks connections for control buttons on any buttons on the grip. AC Adapter? Good idea, except stick to only using a Canon AC Adapter. Or, you can buy a cheap knockoff from somewhere online, and risk damaging your camera. Hope this helps!
The grip is non-genuine, but does the job well. The firmware is taking the commands like for a wired trigger. A short 3.5 mm cable is provided to connect the grip to the camera and send the controls. All the best! 🤝
How long does the Canon R8 battery last when shooting FHD video?
It should last around 50 minutes max. I used it mostly in 4K 24fps. With the grip (2 batteries) I get around 1h and 15 min. of video.
It would help a lot more if you provided more details on the battery grip; or at least a link to where to buy it…
Hello! Here is the grip that I use and present in the video: patona.de/en/patona-premium-handgrip-for-canon-eos-rp-eos-r8-5745 Not sure if it is available in other countries under the same brand/name, but this is what I use in Europe. All the best!
Alex, thank you for your video. What is your overall impression of the r8? Overheating, etc? I also have an RP and am thinking of getting the R8.
Glad the video was useful! I’ve sold my RP and now using just the R8 for product and lifestyle photography and promo or social media videos. Very good performance overall, no problems with the heating. I shoot mostly 4K 24fps and it handles it very well. Image quality is really great. The only “downside” when it comes to video is the rolling shutter effect. Whenever there is sudden or bit more movement the rolling shutter effect can be noticed. Otherwise, it is a great value for money packed camera. All the best!
@@Tehnologicus Thank you 🙂
yo dude. you should put your referral amazon links in the description so you can get a percentage of every sale that is made as a result of this video. thanks for the info✊🏻
great tips. third party batteries are way better than the canon ones.
What is the model/make of the battery grip you are using?
can you please mention the battery grip link 😢
Canon R8 flash firing not enable option 😓 pls help sir
Check the first curtain fire vs electronic shutter only setti.
Do you have a link to the grip!? ❤
Mines throws me an error😢
Have you disabled the default low-cut mode on the DJI Mic 2? The low-cut mode can affect the richness of the sound, so I recommend turning it off. In my opinion, the DJI Mic 2's sound quality is even better and very suitable for content creation and recording needs.
🌹 *promosm*
Does the RP battery really fit on the R8?
Yes. It is the same model: LP-E17.
battery grip I meant @@alextheifrim
Yes. Any baterry grip made for the RP will fit also the R8 😁
Awesome. Thank you. 😊
What do you do a year or so down the line, when the battery dies. .? …. Chuck it in the bin. Where is the replaceable battery?
Pro tip: Link affiliate links to these in the description. You will make some money and allow us to easily find the products.
Is there a sync delay issue with the audio file breaking every 30 mins
I saw other people noticing this problem. I for one did not encounter it.
who in their right mind would use noise-cancellation smh
Also you can take not original battery for 1800mA !!! Palo LP-E17
Thanks for the tip! Didn’t knew that there is a replica with that big capacity 😁. All the best!
@@alextheifrim 😁😃👍👍
Did the noise cancelation but didn't even use the dead cat. Also wind is a bit different from background noise
Yes, wind is very different. Noise cancelling is about “removing” different frequencies around the spectrum.
Is this interview kit worth the money? What do you think?💰🤔
So the only problem was the voice iso? I think if you've watch other review everyone else have stated about the audio quality that comes with voice iso. However if you edit on DVR, their voice iso is really good. I'd say shoot without voice iso on the mic and do it in post. You'll get better quality that way. For the price and what you get, I'm definitely not complaining, just speaking for myself here.
There is a general sound profile issue from my point of view. Even with the NC turned off, it still has a flat and muddy tone. I really think that it is either a hardware or a software problem. I'm sticking with my RODEs for the moment and plan to test out also some Hollylands.
I have seen more reviews about various serious issues with the Mic 2 and they are deal breakers also in my book. You are not the only one finding various issues. I got the Hollyland Lark Max and it really is rock-solid for my work.
I saw also other users facing issues with the external lav port. Really disappointing. I plan to test out the Hollyland Lark Max soon. Really looking forward to it! Thanks for sharing!
How’s everything going?,you shared pro content. Alex,
Glad you enjoyed the video! All the best!
I really hope DJI can fix the audio quality issues. When I use an external lav the DJI Mic 2 sounds great but I really want the internal mic quality to be improved significantly.
I also hope that they will manage to improve it somehow. Don't know how much is really hardware or software related. We'll see.
What are your thoughts about the DJI Mic 2? 🤔
Awesome video, Alex! :) (fellow romanian TH-camr here)
From my experience a 2nd battery is more than enough
It always depends on what and how you aim to use it. But for sure anyone should have at least a spare battery, whatever camera is used 😁.
This is kind of just a general observation, but "from my experience" could mean anything. It could mean that you took one picture, then changed batteries, and took one more picture. Nobody knows what your experience was, unless you tell us what it was. If you only shoot stills, that's way different from shooting 4k60 video.
It means im shooting stills for about 4 hours straight and then when the battery is dead i grab my second one 👌@myblacklab7
@@omgmitzidis2 Gotcha. So you're only talking about shooting stills. Hybrid cameras make things more confusing - I'm interested in the R8 only because it can shoot 4k60 video. I'm guessing the battery might last 40 minutes shooting 4k60 video, so if I want to shoot for 8 hours, I'll need around 8 batteries (taking into account cool-down time for overheating).
@@myblacklab7 maybe a battery grip is better for that
Ew, I can't believe this is an issue in 2023. I have a Sony A6700 APS-C camera and I can't even use a whole battery in one day unless I leave the camera recording for 2 hours straight. With just pictures, it's almost impossible to drain the battery. I was considering picking up the R8, but not with this battery issue.
R8 is a great choice if you plan changing the “ecosystem” from Sony to Canon fullframe. Any photographer or videographer should have at least one extra battery, no matter its size. It is more efficient, gives you also a backup. There are many pros to it and it is a needed investment. That is my opinion 😁
ITS GREAT IDEA. COULD YOU KINDLY SHARE ME THE LINK FOR AC POWER ADAPTER.
Glad it was useful! Here is an example of AC adapter: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1636711-REG/indipro_tools_aclpe17_ac_power_supply_to.html
Thank you for all the tips! I have the R50 which uses same battery and looking to upgrade to the R8 later this year.
Glad it was useful! 🙏 The R8 is a very capable, well packed camera that for sure you will enjoy it. All the best!
I have a better idea-just carry two extra batteries in your pocket. You triple your battery life, you can use your wireless remote, you don’t have to carry around a big, mostly full of air, dumb battery grip and you aren’t connected to a wire. Why do you reviewers make the R8's small battery an issue?
In the end it really depends on how you are using the camera. It is up to you what is the most suitable solution in the end. Getting extra batteries is always necesarry. What we can all agree is that the 1.000 mah battery is first of all a technical/commercial differentiator between models. Second of all, considering that it packs in a lot of power hungry tech, with a more advanced processor, AI focus, connectivity, 4k C-Log filming capabilities, 1.000 mah is not enough from my point of view. If you decide to swap batteries, use a grip, or rig a power bank, it is really up to you in the end to decide what is best. Thanks!
You may be in another country, but you post the link to the AC power solution you’re using?
This would be an example similar product: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1636711-REG/indipro_tools_aclpe17_ac_power_supply_to.html
@@alextheifrim much appreciated. I think I’m going to order just to have.
Whenever I shoot static videos indoors I prefer to use the AC as I don’t have to worry about the battery. Just keeping an eye on the memory and heating 😁. Wish you all the best!
Solve it permanently with an EOS R6 Mark II
Haha! Thats great if you have the budget and other reasons that make sense for you :). For me, and probably for many others, the R8 is a great in between camera that is very capable for both photography and video. Wish you all the best!
I guess one can solve a lot of problems by spending more money. You can solve the issues with the R6 Mark II by just buying an R3, and you can overcome the shortcomings of the R3 by just buying a Sony Venice. You can skip the need to use a camera at all by just hiring a production crew to do it for you.
Bro exactly look like peter lindgren
Haha! Maybe we are related. Who knows 😅.
4 batteries in 2 hours? Hmmm…
If you shoot 4K, 50 fps, yes, it runs out faster as expected. And that was before switching airplane mode on. Now it has a better performance as presented in the video.
R5 can shoot 50min 4k 60fps with big battery. not that much difference.
I bought an usb-c battery adapter. Dummy battery on one side and usbc on the other. Small powerbank in the pocket and you don't think about battery life anymore :)
Thanks for sharing! I presume the power bank should be one with PD (Power Delivery) capabilities, right?
@@alextheifrim hm. all my powerbanks support PD, so I suppose that yes, it should be PD capable. :)
I also bought dummy battery for USB-C but returned it back. The output power of the original LP-E17 battery is 7.4 volts, and the HangTon adapter is 9.2 volts. Measure the voltage so as not to burn the camera with such products.
@@alextheifrim l'm use powerbank with PD. Without PD camera didn't work, I'm checked it.
A second battery and an external charger (usb adaptable for powerbanks). Maybe Patona's grip with two batteries capacity... A jail with a vmount battery... Many options
Only 38!follower?
Well, I wasn’t very active on this channel. But thinking about it if I should continue creating videos here regarding camera gear. Thanks!
@@alextheifrimplease do, I found this video super helpful. It’s given me ideas 😊
smallrig VB 99 battery is great option
Yes, indeed, its a great setup that can power multiple things. It can power also your laptop if needed. Just that its a bit on the expensive side, and adds some weight with the cage. Depends on your needs and budget. Thanks for sharing!
You can get the neewer 99wh or the K&F concept in wich both are cheaper options@@alextheifrim
