It's honestly unfair to compare a company that makes series and movies, with a Toy Corporation that produces publicity to sell their products.

Everybody who grow up with Odile mattel will like it because of nostalgic I never watch both Mattel and their version but I ll give edge to toei because odile matter version seem more annoying.

I never would knew there was odile gothic version of her if it wasn't for this video but too be fair their both gothic the 1981 and 2003

As much as I love that early Barbie movie, especially the creativity they had for the Four Little "Swans", I cannot STAND Odile's voice over. Whoever directed her to cackle like that, man... 😤 My poor ears. I've never seen that Toei film, but I do like Odile's spunk. I think that could've shown up more in the Barbie movie if they let the characters be a bit more mature like the older movie. It's not babies watching those things; it's children. They'd understand a bit more, and it'd still be child-friendly to watch. I don't like that old-movie-Odile just threw her plan out the window immediately after the prince disagreed. She didn't pause long enough for any feeling to take hold. It was just a rollercoaster. That's where I like the story beats' consistency for the Barbie movie better. I noticed a lot of older media is like that, though.
