Aphid Farm
มุมมอง 92ปีที่แล้ว
I found these Black Garden Ant workers tending aphids on a Jewelweed plant (impatiens capensis). The ants can be seen ingesting the honeydew which the aphids secrete through special alimentary canals on their abdomens. The ants provide protection and grooming services for the aphids in return for the honeydew. Because both sides benefit, this relationship is often considered a mutualism.

Alan, Would you mind sharing where you found how to print the bracket?
This is a bracket I designed in Freecad. I have access to a printer at work.
Awesome recording, thanks for sharing !!
Fabulas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At home my wife rules, I'm glad to know that Alfa males still exist.
How could this sound be similar to the sounds of meditation chants? Could it be thought of that way?
Cool that you were able to capture this - whats missing (and freaked me out first time I heard it) is the depth of bass in the sound and how it carries through the woods when grouse are doing this - from about 50 yards it is such a deep sound it seemed impossible that a woods chicken could be the cause. Thanks for sharing!
Exactly what I thought when I first heard it.
Incredible shot 👌bravo!
I hear grouse drum all the time in spring. I never actually saw it before though. Thanks.
So beautiful Alan!!! You have a gift!
Thank you so much.
Good Owl Footage
That’s cool Alan many years ago I was able to video tape one doing this in Baxter state park
Keep trying Alan
Alan, Great job. Perhaps rather than a clean 45 degree angle, you could point out the steps in the cut the porcupine teeth leave. Did you find any scat? Maybe some mention of the distinctive odor they leave. Let's go tracking together some time.
