January 26th, 2024. It was a clear and very chilly day. The temperature was around 40°F. We set out to wheel through Harris Spring Rd, Nevada in our Jeep Compass Trailhawk, Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road, Toyota Forerunner TRD Off-road, and Subaru Crosstrek Sport. We hit unexpected snow but decide to push through and I guess you’ll just have to watch to see what happens! #snow #jeep #offroad #subar...

I’m guessing 90% or better of the Wranglers you see on the road, the owners have no ideal what they a truly capable of conquering off road, probably a good thing because I figure there is a big part driving skill plays in that ability, I know I don’t have it.
True haha I always see a lot of “off-road” wranglers that look the part but you can just tell that they never touch any dirt and just have the setup to look cool which is a real shame.
Thank you for the video! Pls I’m interested to get my self one like the one you just have. Kindly tell me what you think so fare of the performance ?… and will you advise me to go for one ?… thank you
So far I’ve only tested it out at home but plan to do a full review soon! I think it’s really good build quality and worth the price if you can get a discount on it. I was able to purchase it for $100 from autozone with the help of a 20% off from $120
harbor is coming out with the same thing shortly....looks like autozone beat them to it for a higher price point.....i was planning on buying the harbor freight one once they put it on sale or with a coupon...
Its hard to tell from the video but is the trail really narrow? Thinking about taking my stock +1" GX hopefully the trail still in good shape
There’s some narrow parts but I’ve seen mid sized trucks and Jeep take it so it’s not too bad, nothing dangerous for the vehicles in the right areas, just plants.
@deserttrailscout I think I've been on this trail a couple years ago in my 2wd 4th gen 4runner and remember it being pretty easy, it just took forever because I was with a big group
@ yeah it’s a pretty laid back trail with no big obstacles
I having the same issue. I know its the Transmission Mount Isolator. How hard is the job with basics tools?
You’ll need a break bar, torque wrench, torx sockets and a Jack to do the job so it’s a bit more than basic tools because of the torx sockets. You can use regular sockets but you risk stripping the heads.
So it’s a bit tough especially when having line up the whole when reinserting the long bolt for the isolator. You’ll need to adjust the Jack on the transmission to keep it supported. The exhaust pipe gets in the way but you’ll just need to muscle it out of the way to get to certain bolts unless you remove the pipe.
How far away is this from the city?
Not far at all. It’s on the east side in Sunrise manor!
Too bad it’s only 200hp and the mpg is horrible for such a small vehicle
Very true! My average is about 20-21 mpg (probably due to the exhaust leak from trail damage) and only 180 HP since it’s a 2019 with no turbo haha
@@deserttrailscout they are cool looking
Is your compass factory height? Or you lifted it?
Factory
Sick video bro! Keep up the good work! 👏👏👏
Appreciate it!! 🤙🏽
What's this cost to repair?
Depending on how many engine mounts you’ll need to replace, there is a total of 3 mounts. I replaced the mounts myself so it only me about $100 for the Mount and tools, it will most likely cost more if you have a shop do it for you.
@@deserttrailscout can you do a quick vid of where they are located please? I have had this problem since I bought my trailhawk last year with 47k on it. I complained to the dealership, they had their lead mechanic go on a test drive with me and said it was fine. Now only 5k miles later they tell me that they will need to be replaced next oil change and it will be at least 1,000$ ....it's looking like they will be loosing a customer by not covering them and I want to look for myself before I have someplace else do them. Thanks again for the video!
As a Jeep guy, ground clearance was my biggest issue with obstacles and mud. After a 3" lift and bigger tires on my '87 Wrangler I don't have many issues any more.
Yes! That 3 inch lift sounds like it would make a big difference especially with bigger tires!
Where is this? Beautiful 😍
Harris Spring Rd in Nevada!
Take me with you next time please 🥺
I love this!!
Thank you!
Nice jeep! Looks great with the red rocks ❤
Thanks! 👍
Such a beautiful spot!
It really is!
Nice video, thanks. Did you air down and find a good speed for the road condition? or what? thz
Yes, I aired down. I usually drop down to 25psi from 35psi since I don’t have headlock capable wheels and stock suspension so I don’t want it too low
Compass Trailhawk is legit 😀
It’s great!
I just subscribed to your channel. Thought I'd support a fellow Italian Jeep Trailhawk owner. What all have you done to the Trailhawk? People underestimate our Jeeps because they're not the cookie cutter Wranglers/Rubicons, but we can change their minds... our Trailhawks can offroad and hang with the rest.
Heck yeah! Definitely has its limits though haha but a great vehicle to get into off-roading
Guy on the radio sounds like such a good dude.
Lol there’s two guys on the radios
Honestly they both did great.
The only thing Is that the compass left with trail damage on the front bumper and rear bumper and the Willys didn’t haha
This is beautiful! Where can I find this?
It is in southern Nevada. It is called the Big Dune near Death Valley
Good day to you! I am a grandpa rider on HONDA motorcycle from Japan. Enjoying camping ,touring and upload video. Your wild off road video is so nice! Awesome! Full supported ! Have a nice day my friend!
Wow, awesome! I love Honda motorcycles! Thank you, I really appreciate that.
What about Jeep willys
It was a Jeep Willys Wrangler
well done
Thank you
A cautious man is a smart man. I once drove into a ditch because it was dark and I adsume the alope Inwas driving on was a geavel road. Turns out they had just removed the concrete road that day to replace it with new concrete
That’s hilarious haha glad you made it out safe
Мне кажется если бы он медленно съехал до упора , то не прочесал бы мордой.
I was trying to slowly make my way in but the little dip dropped the wheels to far down causing it to hit the front bumper haha. Lessons learned
Excellent 😍😍😍
Thanks!
How can I remove the plastic panels?
I just pulled back the panel from the bottom side where the latch is and was okay with busting a clip or two that was inside. Didn’t cause a rattle or anything and it was worth it so I could have the latch working properly again. I’m sure there’s a correct way in order to remove the clips without breaking them.
How long did it take you?
I think it was about 2-3 hours depending on your speed and if you make any stops for pictures and rest
Is that Southern Utah?
It’s actually right outside of Las Vegas Nevada haha hidden gem
@@deserttrailscout Little Red Rock? I'm in Summerlin off the Parkway and Town Center. I go up there all the time.
Here's a couple videos of that area. youtube.com/@robertdoran7387
@@robertdoran7387 nice! It’s actually in the Lava Butte OHV area near sunrise manor. Ive been to red rock but haven’t heard of little red rock. I’ll have to check it out
@@deserttrailscout What part of town are you in? Most of the trails over on the west side are stock friendly. I go looking for trails that are a challenge for my Liberty. Most Wranglers would get bored so I'm always going out alone. But I try things that some Wrangler drivers won't.
Its a Kia with a jeep dress 👗
Lol more like a fiat actually. Shares the same engine
This is a vehicle never meant to go off pavement….
Lol you sure know a lot about off-roading!
What is the cause??/does it need to be fixed
It was from the impact into the hard dirt. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to pop it right out but I also suffered some damage from sharp rocks that won’t be easily repaired haha
@@deserttrailscout I have a trailhawk as hell, I was on the high way today and it was shaking a bit around 80mp. Do you know what could be the problem? Also when I’m switching gears to reverse its vibrating
@@cjjacksonjackson895 sorry I thought you were replying to a different video that involved my new damage on bumper from a trail haha. Yes the problem is the transmission isolator (engine) mount. It will stop the crazy vibrations when you put it in reverse.
Is it expensive to fix
@@cjjacksonjackson895sounds like wheel balancing and a bad transmission mount
This looks so fun
It was beautiful!
Looks so dope dude!!
Thank you!
Beautiful out there!!!
Definitely! Especially during the Fall Sunset

Do another one with *lifted* Cherokee Trailhawk.
I’ll need to find someone I know with a Cherokee
@@deserttrailscout I would do it if I were close. I'm in the southeast.
Lift helps a TON Every inch of flex will help. Taller tires will help. Can you go beyond 225 65 with compass ? That's what I've read is the "modest" maximum. Stock is 215 65. People do wheel spacers too in the compass typically. It should help your motion ratio some to have wheel spacers also. It might not be a ton but it's not zero. If you don't know about motion ratio, Google it. Basically spacers is like having a longer suspension arm which means less force will be required to compress the spring because spacers add leverage on the compression . This will add flex. I don't know how much but it will absolutely help. The maximum potential of approach departure and breakover angles of the compass is greater than that of the Cherokee because it can be lifted more than the Cherokee.
@@off-roadingexplained8417 thanks for all the info! Yes, I’ve been planning on getting a 2inch lift with some bigger wildpeak tires and some spacers. Looking for a low profile exhaust as well with the smaller muffler
@@deserttrailscout you can always go glass pack, they're always small (whatever size you want I bet) but it will be raspy. Borla sounds good on the compass and renegade I think but borla is probably more than glass pack for sure. Might be able to do something like go glass pack but add a resonator (add another one if it already has one) and maybe that's still cheap and sounds ok. I don't know. I want to figure it out for mine too , same engine as you :2.4 .
Looks so fun.
It was!
Nice
Thanks
!!!! Put a 4” lift and 30’s on that thing asap!!!!!
