Amazing video!
The video is not reaching the audience it should ...
Excellent talk, very well explained.
This video was very informative. Thank You. I fear I may have PPA. For the past 20 years I've had word retrieval difficulties. But not bad enough to see a physician. However, for the past 3 weeks I have noticed I have been using the wrong word when speaking . For example - I said to my husband " please put this glass in the oven " when the target word was "dishwasher " The following day , I said to myself as I was getting ready to leave the house " I need to get my flashlight " when the target word was " cell phone." I need to mention the word substitutions all started after a very stressful situation which gave me a bad headache for two days. However, I did NOT have a stroke, nor head injury. I would love to know what are the first signs of PPA ? Is it possible that the word retrieval difficulties over the last 20 years be the early symptom and now the word substitution be a worsening of the word retrieval issue ? I would also like to note: I have a mood disorder, bipolar and I'm a very nervous person. Back in 2015 I had a major depression episode and could not function for 3 years while trying different antidepressants . After my recovery 4 years later - I felt as though my brain was damaged because I had a lot of hesitations in my speech and more pronounced word finding difficulties. There were times I felt as if I could barely string a sentence together. I had no desire to even engage in a conversation. However, within a few years I did get better and returned to my baseline. I would greatly appreciate any comments and or thoughts. Thank you
Hi, how are you doing now? I fear I have this too and started just like you, calling objects the wrong name.
I would like to see what effect being bi or trilingual has on PPA. I have had progressive word finding problems for several yrs in English, my native language, but the word will pop up in German or French as a substitute.
Marsel Mesulam is always interesting. Does anyone know where I could find his talk with the audio interview with a patient with fluent aphasia with the effect on comprehension, the story about "a lion eating a spatula"?
Hi there! That video is not available yet, but will follow up when it does become available.
