    Al9ha, Russ! Happy belated birthday! On the Topic of the Day, have Always been Coca-Cola fan(blame Mom-lol). Never been real fan of root beer until couple years ago, came across Bundaberg vanilla soda & ginger beer & Virgil's root beer. Am more partial towards ginger beer coz of the purported health benefits from ginger!(ancient Chinese secret!)-lol. Had heard you making mention of your 2d channel but hadn't gotten around to checking it out...until now...Aloha/Mahalo from Hawaii...p.s...What's current weather conditions like(not when filming)

    Hey Russ, going to Costco today after our gym workout literally next door. Mrs.K hardcore cycle. I always get gas for her too (at Walmart). Got your chicken and pizza with a full tank for Mrs.Right, that’s a good day👍🏻💯

      @ Very comparable. In Sacramento, Costco $3.69, Walmart $3.68 both for Regular. California is higher bc of higher standards for cleaner air. Walmart is within.3 miles opposed to Costco 5 miles away. Either way both are cheap!👍🏻🤣

    Hey Russ, I agree totally that it is hard to figure out places from the Air. I’ve gone up many times once in a little helicopter and lots of times with my son in his plane and yep, it’s hard unless you’re kind of at an angle. You have no concept of height and things like that. Also, my son used to fly over Tampa Bay with the marine biologist to keep track of where the manatees were so that was really cool for him. Also, my dad was a helicopter pilot and he used to fly Bell helicopters among other things. So we have an aviation family.

      Nice! Yes, it's hard to figure out from the air. I didn't realize that until I was up there! Good thing the pilot knew the area better than I did!

    When I go to Costco between 11-2 I usually end up sitting with someone else at that tables. I just ask if I could sit here and they always (so far) say "sure". I hadn't had anyone call me over to sit at their table yet. I end up being aggressive and meeting new people.

    Fellow teacher who did wedding photography quit just before you. Digital cameras and cellphones, he said killed his business. He sold his cameras to a camera repair shop. It’s now closed, too.

    • @morefromruss
      @morefromruss 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Wedding photography isn't dead, but it's not the same as it was in the past. But camera sales are definitely down. There was even a time during that period where Nikon thought they were going to go out of business. Today, DSLR cameras are mostly gone, replaced by mirrorless cameras. Essentially the same kind of camera, but the mirror is now replaced with a monitor screen system. Photography principles are still the same however. Many people today though will use their cell phones to take a quick photo rather than a big heavy DSLR or Mirrorless camera. It's just easier and the cell phone is always with you for the convenience. It's hard to beat that.

    My knee-jerk instinct, based on convenience, would be to buy the smaller quantity because I rarely cook with oil. However, given the opportunity to think about it logically, I would have gone with the bulk deal. You can always find a bit more space in your kitchen cabinets and save the other bottle for another occasion. The stuff lasts forever unopened. Worst-case, you can do the neighborly thing and give it to a next-door neighbor if they need some oil or drop it off at a food pantry. It won’t go to waste.

  • @michaelellis3502

    Keep the oil ditch the pepsi😂

  • @BirdieSueA
    @BirdieSueA 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    If I actually used that kind of oil, I’d go with buying the larger quantity and then give one bottle to our local food pantry. Our small family wouldn’t use that much. Truth is, our family hasn’t used vegetable oil in 30+ years. Hubby is Filipino & he loves to cook as I do; even so, we’ve only used EVOO & occasionally Avocado Oil for the past 30+ years. As for the soda, I’m hoping Costco will also carry Coke Zero, since our family prefers that one over the Diet Coke.

    It depends if you use all, or waste some of it. Good to split it with daughter or someone else. There’s only tso of us too, so we don’t often buy larger quantities of food at Costco anymore. Have you noticed we haven’t had much snow this winter?

    A. Oil can go rancid...use fairly quickly...store cool, dark place. B. Costco ( I like) but you do have a membership to pay. C. depending on how far one is from a Costco...driving /time spent...vs local grocery. ....All factors ... But looks like it was a deal.

    @paulketchum6819 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You made the right choice better price. Mrs.Right will freak out at first bc of the sheer quantity but you’ll offer the second bottle of oil to Daughter Right and all will be justified. Mrs.K may not send you out for anything tho🤣🤣🤣

    If I had to cook a large quantity of egg rolls, I would buy the oil that I need. Since eating cleaner the last couple of years, I don't use vegetable oil or highly refined oils and it would be a waste anyway. I only have extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil in the house. I cook frozen egg rolls in the air fryer using avocado oil to coat the egg rolls.

      This is what google said, however we know we cant trust all information on the net. Unopened vegetable oil can last up to two years, but the shelf life depends on the type of oil: Canola oil: Can last up to two years from the manufacture date Extra virgin olive oil: Can last up to 18 months Regular olive oil: Lasts slightly less than extra virgin olive oil Coconut oil: Can last up to three years Sunflower oil: Can last up to almost a year Soybean oil: Lasts about 6 months to 7 months Corn oil: Similar to soybean oil, but tends to last a little less

    I hear you and I feel your pain, Russ. I turned 50 in August and I didn’t have cancer at 48 on my Bingo card. I had lymphoma that caused such severe swelling in my legs, I couldn’t walk from one end of the store to the other without being out of breath from exhaustion and doubled over in pain. Thankfully they figured out how to treat it and I’ve been cancer-free for a year and a half. My latest ailment is tendon pain in my fingers, which may be related. When we get older, we need to start stockpiling spare parts. E-bikes have been a godsend to me and I’m finally able to ride 50-60 miles or more with ease once again like I used to do in my teens and 20s. I went through a period when I was getting heavy too. I think I peaked around 260. Nothing like cancer and a week in the hospital to make you shed some weight. 😂 I’ve regained some weight but I now hover between 200 and 210. Not bad for 6’1” I suppose.

    On another note about the hip and being disabled. I notice when I am out in public, people give me special treatment. Especially the days when I cant walk around the store and I use the electric wheelchairs. Most people that I feel wouldnt be nice to me are. They offer to get items off the shelf for me and let me go first in line. Feels good sometimes seeing the love that people actually have for their fellow man. I dont take advantage of their kindness, I just let them know, sometimes my hip allows me to move, sometimes it doesn't. :)

      @morefromruss 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, some people will hold the doors for me when I'm on my mobility scooter. But, other times, they don't. On cruise ships, many will hold the elevators and allow me to get in first and get off first (if I'm positioned to do so). But others, won't do anything at all. It is at these times that the other people will sometimes scold the others and say, "What's wrong with you? Let him in!" Different folks do different things I guess.

    I remember, in my college days one day I was looking at myself in the bathroom mirror. Saying to myself, one day your gonna look up and see and old man, when will that day be. That day was several years ago. I was like, wow, you made it! Time flys, however when we look back it seems long ago however its not in the scheme of things. 70,80,90,00,10,20 all these decades added up. Had a good life for what I made of it. Was able to work in the I.T. field 30 years, worked oil fields about 4 years, DOD worked baout 4 years total. Worked for all branches of the armed forces in I.T., drove 18 wheelers, helped build homes, helped start up companies, Taxi driver, worked at Port of Corpus Christi, worked for banks, Dallas city government, Enron, Compaq, Hilton. Ive been everywhere job wise in my life. God Blessed me and continually does. Understand about the hips, I must take my cane and or walker with me. I limp even if I dont feel pain right then.

    Pain is the line you cross into age and that's why retirement exists. As an employer you're better off with younger workers just for better attendance and endurance, not to mention acquiring the bleeding edge of modern skills and technology. Russ you are probably doing more service to a larger group now than when you were a city cop. We appreciate you sharing your discoveries with us and in consequence some of your wisdom benefits our lifestyle with a little heads up.

    If I recall I started going downhill around mid 40’s. White hair, losing hair and pain. One of my doctors told me I should take better care of myself. Most cases your health doesn’t improve with age. 😂

    I have no idea when I started looking older. I don't look at myself often. However, One day I noticed my beard was beginning to look white and I said to myself; I bet a white beard would look cool if I grew it out; so I stopped cutting it as much. I like the getting older look. Now I'm wondering what I would look like at 180 pounds. I need to find that out.

    I think also when you lose a significant amount of weight the skin may not catch up with that. Neck area shows up quickly after a certain age. If it helps, you look better overall thinner and it’s just stuff we are all dealing with. I look a little younger than my age, always have and yeah, darker and or oilier skin types tend to age better

    It's not the age it's the mileage.
