Vincent Turner's Curious Notes
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 4 ส.ค. 2021
A traditional songwriter in a modern world.
I have no label, no contacts, no industry connections. I was a kid with a crazy dream, and now I am an adult that still finds beauty and catharsis in the creativity of songwriting. I think songs can convey so much, and although I wish this channel to showcase my own original music, I also understand I need content that draws people in. Should something happen within the world of music that intrigues me, I'll make a video on it, and I will hope it does well. I won't lie, the content I make about established bands is there to get people through the door, and interested in my own music. But that doesn't mean I don't care about the topics I feature on the channel, and in fact I will only make videos on topics I have a genuine interest in.
So come for the commentary on Rock and Pop music, and stay for the creativity and original songwriting. I sincerely hope you enjoy what I have to offer.

Benson Boone- the Road to Beatuful Things (and What Could Be Next?)
Benson Boone has seen huge success over the past few years, and with 'Beautiful Things', he went full on mainstream. I wanted to take a look at Boone's career so far, and give you my thoughts of how he should proceed, in order to avoid becoming a one hit wonder.

When the Album is 'Butt Rock' (But the Band are so much more...)

I've wanted to make a video on Alter Bridge for a while, and watching Finn McKenty of The Punk Rock MBA talk about "Butt Rock" gave me a way in. In this video I talk about Alter Bridge, specifically their album 'One Day Remains', and it draws paralells with "Butt Rock" Check out the channel here: th-cam.com/channels/MWJ7Zc4iZJv7VvqOVfNBwA.html
What Coldplay Taught Me About Pop Music

What is 'Real Music'? It's a silly term isn't it? However, Coldplay are a huge band, who also get a lot of flak. Even I used to think of their music as inauthentic. In this video I discuss my experience with 'A Head Full of Dreams', as well as continue my exploration into debut albums. Did you know 'Parachutes', was recorded using a lot of live takes onto analogue equipment? With Coldplay over ...

How The Producer Can Influence An Album (Muse - Showbiz)

How would you describe Muse's music? Muse may have defied the odds and conquered the world with songs like "Hysteria", "Super Massive Black Hole", and "Knights of Cydonia", but their success didn't happen overnight. In this video, I look at the early days of the band, and specifically how they recorded their debut album. Check out the channel: th-cam.com/channels/MWJ7Zc4iZJv7VvqOVfNBwA.html

"I Don't Know If I Could Write This Song Again" - Recording I Should Know Better
I have read a lot of reviews of the album. About 90% really Are positive and it is well deserved. Their best album in My opinion.
Mm, now I think about it, I hope I haven't misrepresented the general reponse to the album- more that the particular review I mentioned gave me a good segway into the final part of the video
Are you a jew?
Really nice analysis - very fair and insightful comments, nothing there to shock. It's clear you've given the album time and listened to it throughout from start to finish as it should be done. For me I really regret listening to the singles so much before the album release. I just can't really hear the album in the right way now as some of the songs feel unpacked already. I'd be interested to know how you feel about this. Personally I think the commercialisation of music has spoiled album listening, to the point where very few people will actually listen to anything beyond one or two singles, even from a band they are fans of.
I don't want to say albums are dying- and certainly I feel there are still a lot of artists out there who still view the album as a definitive way of releasing music (heck, I would love to release my own album if I could build enough of a following)- but they certainly are declining in value to general audiences... As for the singles, doing the reactions definitely made me familar with them, but aside from that I can't say I revisted them many times- perhaps that helped me avoid the trouble you seem to have fallen into. In fact, updating endscreens and adding cards to prevous SP videos (linking to this new video) made me rewatch parts of my '...Sound of Your Voice' reaction, and though I've always liked the song, clearly my opinion has grown quite a lot. Thanks for watching the video!
Underrated band. I have seen them a few months ago.
We need more SP in USA - they’ve captured love for so many years
Gary Lightbody has a FANTASTIC voice
Linkin Park were called industry planets and yet now they're considered to be great.
They have a new singer now. Emily Armstrong.
Snow patrol are underrated and yeah i have seen them recently.
Overrated band.
Like the first 3 albums and they were awful after that.
Just love All, its a beautiful song . . .
Did someone turn the hoover on at the end? 😂
Ha ha, my door drags across the carpet when you open it. Unfortunately, my Dad felt like he could just let himself in, despite me not answering his knock 😅
Snow Patrol is Gary Lightbody - the rest of the band have come and gone over the years. I agree that the vocals are the only SP trademark on this song. I didn't dislike the drums as much as you did but i find the guitar a bit wooden - as you said, copied and pasted. Great song, looking forward to the album.
check my stuff out one day mate
please do radiohead editors starsailor and keane and david gray
what a banger of a song defo subbedddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
I appreciate having you with me!

The rock goodnesses!! Forget the industry plants tag. They called them now. Great band deserved the hype they got. Hope they might win the mercury prize on Thursday and might have a chance.
"But so does silence dear" Wow! Gary took the words right out of my soul.
The lyrics on all three of these songs have been really good!
Lovely lyrics!
Loved listening to you talk about that song , thank you
Great video dude I have also been noticing a deep decline in their music album after album, keep up the great work!!!
Thank you so much- honestly I think I over-edited this particular video, but I absolutely stand by the points. Cheers! 😁
Less on the reaction and more that the song is a miss for me. There are parts that are great, and then far too many wtf moments. I LOVE Mark...but this isn't it.
much prefer ab and tremontis melodic ballds but have to sya this isnt bad
Never heard of them which means Im really out of touch
They are fabulous. You should love them.
i fount them and coach party on this platform , nice to see a revamp of british Music post simmon and his cronies
Well said. Did you watch reading/Leeds performance?
Harpy hare Carry 👇🏻 on
Alter Bridge is a weird band for me. It has both the butt rock sound, especially in the first album, but in Blackbird, I feel that the musical style became more mature, dark and technical. Both of the albums have my favourite songs from them: Open your eyes from one day remains is more of the butt rock style which I'm not the biggest fan of anymore, but it somehow feels better for me than creed etc. From blackbird, blackbird and watch over you are probably my favourite songs from the band! PS. Could you make a video about Seether if you have any interest? It's my most listened to band ever.
Totally agree- Blackbird I think was a huge evolution, and the album that showed the world who Alter Bridge really are. And yeah, Blackbird and Watch Over You are quite rightly regarded among AB's best songs. I will shout out White Knuckles though, and I get the impression I like 'Wonderful Life' (off AB III) a lot more than most (that chorus really gets me). As for Seether, I never really got into them, but I'll admit I haven't listened to much. I'll look into it though, and should something grab my interest, then by all means I will make a video ;)
Really good, wish you great success !
Thank you so much! 😄
That opening riff is very much in the same vein (RIP Layne 😖)as Alice in Chains. 🤘🏻
Mm, you can hear AIC a lot on Alter Bridge's work too (especially the later stuff), clearly a big influence!
One of the very best song from SP.tnx for the reaction
Give that a 10 and do something else Mark is flawless best ever
I like the way you say "Kings College London" while showing a picture of King's College, Cambridge.
Lol, fail on my part 🤣 apoligies
@@vincentturnersnotes No worries. I'm not really sure why your video popped up in my feed, as I don't even like the Last Dinner Party - but it's good to see someone being enthusiastic about new music 🙂
I really liked watching a fresh reaction to this album. I've been a huge SP fan for many years, and have loved watching them release their music over the last few albums. Gary Lightbody talks so passionately about this album, he says it's his own favourite release so I do wonder if it somehow makes a pivotal moment in his private life somehow. I get the feeling feeling he's invested a lot of himself in it...Lovely knowing that he did all the artwork for it too.
Yes, I've been enjoying these songs, and indeed this really does seem like a more personal and introspective album. I think you might be right about Lightbody, this album might reflect something pivotal in his own life. I'm considering making a video essay when the album comes out, it seems fun to dive into the interviews and making of- I imagine there's a really cool story behind this one!
I'm so stoked for this man.
If the rest of the album matches the quality of these three releases, it is going to be up there with their very best
I've certainly been impressed with these three songs, let's hope so! :)
Great rocking song as he always does
I saw them in a library in blackpool with about 50-100 people there They’re amazing and so glad they’ve gotten popular <3
Enjoying the SP reactions, fans are fewer these days so finding myself coming here to get the SP chat after their releases now
Yas! SAME
A comment receives power from it's usage. That power gets diminished every time a comment is used incorrectly, of which causes less trust in those kinds of comments. Personally, I don't think terms like industry plant or the like have any real power because 99 times out of 100 it's used for groups thar clearly aren't.
.
If it helps the algorithm, I'll take it! ;)
@@vincentturnersnotes Well, honestly, I don't know. I hope this helps. I couldn't think of anything else to say
Ha ha, clearly so overcome by all the emotions, that you didn't know how to reflect them in your face and body language! 😉 Jokes aside, no problem, thank you
You're audio is poor
Early days my friend! Once I get the channel monetised I'll invest in a less noisey mic, until then I shall endeavour to do the best with what I've got!
They are fucking awful is what they are!
They not
Tell me what you you problem with them please. They are a fantastic talented band? Not AI generic pop ie Charli xcx brat rubbish. Not wet leg. By the way they are overrated but still good like chaise lounge. They were nominated for the mercury prize recently. I might compare them with wolf Alice if their win it. Because they win it in 2018. Might be a template for them
@TheBobbymcd
@@niallq8447 they just don’t sound good to my ears!
Why do you comment on this video if you don't like the band? 🤔
What a band! I haven't been that shook up since I found a weird album called Crocodiles.
I totally agree! I haven't heard such a brilliant album since Peter Gabriel's I/O album. Definitely the best British band in a long time. And in this year 2024, they simply outdo everything.
yes dispel these ridiculous notions but real fans know when they played in front of 6 people
No industry plants. They are great. Bobby.
