Hi there! Yes it is a bit tricky to choose these seats. They don't allow you to select these seats if you purchase the ticket with miles. For cash fares, only fare types J,C,D,Z are eligible to select these seats and not the cheapest fare class. Finally, you will have to pay an upgrade cost on top of the higher cash fare. For this route it was $150 usd but it can get to $700 on the flights to the US.

Hey thanks for commenting! I think ANA having 8 seats in first class is pretty common with its competitors. I wasn’t expecting to be the only passenger though haha. ANA usually releases a seat or two to be booked with miles in first class. The others are for booking with cash which is really expensive. I understand if no one is paying those prices

Haha yes Asiana does not offer First Class anymore on any of their routes. They rebranded their first class to business suites which essentially gives you the same amenities as business class but with the old first class suites and access to the business suite lounge. I wanted to check out this route for the novelty of trying out a huge plane on such a short route ;) I do want to try out Emirates A380 first class on those shorter routes as well!!

@@milestoluxury I know Asiana operates their A380 to LA and so, I wanted to check out the price based on aeroplan points and United Airline miles. No wonder I could not find it since it is not marketed as first class anymore. Did you book this ticket late if I may ask or is it a roundtrip ticket ? Because the price for a one way business class ticket to Haneda or Osaka was around $230-$260 last time I checked if booked early off peak but it costed you $355

​@@theshieldhero7062 Yea for business suites you aren't able to redeem miles for it. Even redeeming for the standard business class they won't let you upgrade to it with points or cash. You can only purchase an upgrade to business suites if you purchased a standard business class seat with a certain fare class. The cheapest tickets were in the lowest fare class and were around those prices you mentioned, but I had to purchase a higher fare class which was around $350 one way that would allow me to select the business suite seats. Definitely a lot of hurdles ;)
