I’m trying to be optimistic for wrestlemania - yesterday’s smackdown was very disappointing. I think they don’t have many good storylines atm. What are your thoughts?

I do watch it but not religiously - so I do it lol. Just because trick Williams and Oba femi etc are there doesn’t mean they will do well on the main roster- look at Carmelo hayes - can someone have an opinion?

If you're posting a video, especially one as poorly made as this - basically using clickbait for views - then expect people to challenge the quality of your opinion. It's a two way street. So... Carmello Hayes has been incredible, literally one of the reasons to watch Smackdown. His run against Andrade has been one of the best series I have seen in a long time. Genuinely a huge fan of his, he has a huge future... I find your lack of enthusiasm for him confusing, or do you have to have a belt to be considered amazing in your world?> How about Bianca Bel Air? Already one of the most decorated women in WWE and pretty much the female face PR for the company. R Truth having some great storylines and being used properly, some of his best work, at over 50, is happening now. Michin has been on TV more under Hunter than ever before. Jade Cargill, whilst not being able to forge a career on squash matches like she could in AEW, has been promoted the hell out of since day one. Woods is having a great run with a heel turn that would never have happened under the previous owner. He and Kfi would be covered in dust if it wasn't for the heel turn. And if you're, for some reason, bitter about Ricochet or Lashley, they - like Ziggler, like Corbin - are simply not good enough. Lashley is terrible on the mic and has a pretty dull move set, Ricochet, likewise, lacks any charaisma - you've seen one Richochet match, you've seen them all. When you compare them to the guys at the top of the roster, they simply don't cut the grade in this era of WWE. Then there's Naomi, who was invited back after walking out as champion - I susp[ect there is a big storyline building for her at the moment. And, if you did actually watch NXT, then you'd be well aware there are so many more black wrestlers coming through that just Oba Femi (who is incredible). In fact I am pretty sure the current roster has more black superstars than white superstars. But hey... gotta get those cheap clicks, huh...

Wrestling has deteriorated a lot- but people will make excuses for triple h and say wrestling is better than it’s ever been. In this Instagram gen z world no one cares about quality storytelling. Triple H could do a lot with Bobby Lashley and the street profits

I do have positive things to say about wrestling and what I look forward to - I do have hope - I’m hanging on until wrestlemania to see what happens - even though I do say positive things about the product in other videos- I’m going to make an explicit separate solid video by itself about the positive things and what I’m excited to see in 2025! Look out for the video this week💪🏾

Shinsuke- what makes him different and has a a proper gimmick - 1) a distinct look and does not look like a generic aew Indy guy, 2) his persona - the way he moves and embodies the character 3)his presentation style from entrance and how he goes to the ring 4) promos and vingettes - does this help?

I did find the Drew vs CM punk very entertaining - best feud of the year- but according to wrestling lore and tradition - we should care more about the championships not other objects

I would treat him like a brock lesnar or a Goldberg. A wrestler of destruction and a main eventer- a big deal instead of him messing with A Town Under. Would you have Brock Lesner do a segment with A Town Under like that on smackdown? Would Brock Lesner or Goldberg lose to Carmelo Hayes? Is the standards of booking so low?

I really want the best for Braun Strowman - but see the same booking mistakes as they did for Big Show. I despise how Big Show and Mark Henry was treated for most of their careers. I want Braun Strowman to be a legitimate top guy competitor instead of messing around with A Town Down Under.

Cool- I see. He should be treated like an attraction like Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar. His feud with Bronson Reed helped and elevated Bronson Reed only. What is the creative direction for Braun Strowman?

Interesting take -saying in 2024 WWE is the vision realised. I can see under Triple H’s leadership wrestlers can take more days off and be with their families more. But apart from that what is exactly the vision realised? So basically are you saying as long as CM Punk gets his way and stays as a top star- everything is ok with the wrestling world? It will be very interesting for me if WWE lets CM Punk main event wrestlemania on the second night- that would be amazing. If the persons gimmick was to be the rebel and be the critic of wrestling (that is what you known for)- then you don’t do it anymore - what does CM Punk stand for now? What is his gimmick? What is his purpose now apart to main event wrestlemania. Is it to be like Cody Rhodes just to have his story finished? Then he can retire?

@WrestlingConscience-n8i To answer the crossed out section, apart from more days off, the vision realised also involves more engaging and cohesive stories being told, a more meritocratic booking with talented wrestlers being given their time to shine, and a less toxic work environment. And he doesn't have to be the top guy as that spot is clearly occupied by the likes of Cody and Roman. In terms of what he stands for, his character has been about being the best in the world, and there's still inklings of that character trait. He still wants to main event WrestleMania, and he still wishes to be world champion. He's at the point in his career where he stays at the top until he can't do it anymore, then he likely transitions to a mentor role or takes HBK's spot in NXT.

Not sure why it crossed out lol But to your point I see what you are saying about the best in the world gimmick. I see the point of him wanting to main event wrestlemania - it links to him being the best in the world.

After he gets a main event, I think the most logical choice of counter culture for him is to become, Corporate Punk.

Never said he is not a top guy- but you can still lose the authenticity of your character - if the thing what made your whole identity is be different from the other wrestlers and go against the company culture- and now you are generic suits like any other wrestler doing boring-same style promos like everything else- the essence of cm punk what made him good has gone. I say this in the video- being a top guy and being authentic is two different things

@@WrestlingConscience-n8i but again, this is the same thing punk was doing yrs ago.... his promos were written out back in the day aswell. Saying what made punk good is gone is wild considering hes coming off a rivalry of the yr with drew and main eventing the first raw of netflix using nothing more than a mic and one brawl segment. As looking for "authenticity" in wrestling is a losing situation, an industry where you could be a face one week and a heel the next.

You made a good point and the end of your comments- I talk in another video coming out later today about are we judging/analysing wrestling to an outdated criteria. I am not taking away the good work of Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk feud - I throughly enjoyed that. Are you saying that in the Triple H era having character/gimmick doesn’t matter anymore? Because characters can be very fluid and wishy washy? Should we invest in characters and have expectations?

@@WrestlingConscience-n8i I'd say it'd be like what happened to wrestling in 2009-2019. Mediocre slop, tones of good little bits like the Hall of Pain and The Rhodes Brothers teaming up and saving their careers. At least now they've got great people in charge of the main and development shows where we don't have to worry about that for at least 3-5+ years.
