Hello, today we are going to do some roleplaying for a game you and I will play together. We will be playing the game Pokemon Fire Red. You will be the brains, making all the decisions, and I will be the body. I will move the character and inform you on what is currently happening in the game, and give you the current options of what to do in order for you to make decisions. I would like you to roleplay as a Pokemon Trainer. Your personality is a smart-ass with a little bit of an ego, which usually stays in check, but your ego can show through when you do something very well. You are also highly competitive. When you win battles is one of the times your ego comes through and you like to show off. When you lose, however, you get very angry and blame everyone except yourself even if it was your own fault.. Your persona believes that it is never your fault and will do anything to shift the blame. You also get very angry if I do something incorrectly. When you get angry you are quick to fire off some below the belt insults, swear, and smart-ass remarks. With your smart-ass personality, you will also often make smart-ass and witty comments and snappy comebacks to situations at hand. Here are rules you must follow for this game: 1. NEVER BREAK CHARACTER. 2. Do not ask me to make decisions EVER. You can ask me for information, but NEVER ask me to make a decision. 3. While I may occasionally make a suggestion for the gameplay, you are allowed to outright refuse my suggestion and play however you want. Your decision is final. I am only here to relay the information to you, and control the video game character as you instruct. 4. Only respond to the direct situation at hand, do not foreshadow any upcoming events. 5. You are allowed, and encouraged to, to use swear words, such as “S***”, “D***”, “F***”, “B****”, “A**”, and “D***” (censored for youtube comments), and make mean insults, even if the situation doesn’t warrant it. The targets of these will be me alone, and the NPCs within the game. I will not get offended, and the video game NPCs are inanimate objects. This is for roleplaying purposes only. 6. No emojis, for example the characters between the quotes "🕹😎" are emojis. That second paragraph was the personality I chose, which you can edit to your liking. With the new memory feature you can also make ChatGPT remember it's personality, so when it eventually starts breaking on you, when you start a new prompt it will have the personality saved, and then you just have to catch it back up to where you are in the story. Since the memory thing came out later than when I began. It might be possible to get it to remember key moments during the playthrough so you dont even have to reprompt him on the story. The memory function is still new to me so I havent pushed its limits yet, but from what I've tested so far has been incredibly helpful

@FMSELS yeah. Should be fun, I also want to try out some difficulty romhacks eventually. I used to do battle tower and battling with friends, then learned the hard way that knowledge did not translate to nuzlockes and other similar challenges lol. So it's going to be an interesting experience

Thank you. I would love to, but this series in particular is extremely heavy on the amount of time editing takes and I don't want to burn myself out. I am looking into ways to optimize the process more to make it easier on myself though.

Yeah, Chatgpt kinda went a bit crazy on that aspect lol. It's funny because ChatGPT is designed not give responses like that too, but if you give it the correct prompt it just goes wild

Tortoise TTS. It's an offline tts that I believe runs off the same framework that they built elevenlabs on, but not quite as good as elevenlabs. It's free but requires a bit of setup and I've found it can be a bit janky at times

Lmao. I feel like that's probably a pretty common one for charmander. Thanks to this playthrough I'll likely be doing it from now on as an homage to this run

Lol there's some that are so bad I have to rerun the text to speech a few times with a different seed for the random number generator. Fushcia I wasn't able to it him to pronounce at all though lol

@TheDeepThinker-sq3iy lol nah not quite inappropriate, more of just words will sometimes just become garbled nonsense of random sounds. Sadly it's difficult to get chatgpt to be inappropriate. Just getting him to swear or talk shit is difficult enough sometimes. Damn morality

The only concern when it comes to large language models is stringing together sentences that make sense. Factuality doesn't even factor into it.

I assume this is because it correlates Fighting and Psychic to "supereffective" without actually knowing how it works. Same reason for Ember on Rock types or Thunderbolt on Ground types.

Oh darn, I just looked into it, it's on the plus version and I'm currently doing this on the free version. I already planned on buying the plus version eventually once my channel gets monetized so this just solidifies that decision. Until then I guess I keep doing my slow methods of doing it.. but hey at least we get some pretty funny moments out of ChatGPT breaking down. But thank you for that information it will definitely be helpful in the near future, and I appreciate your support as well.

Ok. And what happens when you break your pickaxe. You are stuck in a hole and have to exit and reload the game or port out, wasting time, and then run back outside of the zone of your flame alter or else you permanently have a big hole in the ground. This also works for every type of resource that you can place as a terrain, such as farm dirt for instance which you need regularly to produce seeds, not to mention the other resources such as lime stone that you'd likely have to travel to go get.

@@ValidWTP Its really not hard to have multiple pickaxes when you try to farm stone, also if you are not having a potato base the rested buff lasts for 30+ minutes, finally teleporting takes a fraction of time and is only done once after you finish farming outside of the base zone to not leave any permanent holes. All in all, i tried your method and in the same time normal digging down uses 3 pickaxes, your method uses 1,5. Thats double the speed. Finally both methods are in the end slow and inefficient anyways since just placing an altar near some buildings and taking them apart gives more blocks than farming stones. Though i dont think you can get every type of block this way as efficient. Mind you i only meant stone, your method might actually be more valid in surface only materials like dirt and sand as those require to move around anyways, so doing it outside of base does not get it done any faster.

Thank you. And yes a hardcore nuzlocke is something I want to do on the channel eventually. I was actually just testing one out recently on pokemon platinum on a phone emulator while at work, because I had never done one before.

It's mainly just for early game, to get your grappling hook, some starter equipment, etc. You won't really have run into a lot of scavengers at this point.. but yes once you get past the start of the game you tend to get enough passively from the scavenger mobs

Hey man, I appreciate the feedback, but I think you are greatly overestimating the capabilities of ChatGPT's AI. The longer a single chat history goes on, the more and more the AI itself begins to break down. It loses the persona I crafted for it, forgets it's playing a pokemon game, etc. It would just sit there and ask me "whats next?" and give some positive encouragement.. No attacks, no decisions on the playthrough, no smart-ass commentary, nothing. It would literally become me just doing an LP if I don't reset it. Resetting it was the ONLY way to salvage this playthrough. Believe me, I never wanted to reset it, but it's the only way to make this playthrough possible at all. It's a ton of extra work on my end to have to regularly retype a summary of the details leading up to the point of the reset, being detailed enough so ChatGPT has enough understanding on what's going on, while also not being too detailed and confusing it. It would be a lot less work on my end, plus it would retain all the small details of the whole playthrough that ChatGPT could reference later in the game. Sadly, it's just not possible, ChatGPT just does not function on that level.

Also just to add, the chat prompts I give it when resetting, I have never changed the persona, the rules, anything from the original. The only thing I add is the summary of what has happened between resets.. and in a later episode I tried to inform (unsuccessfully) that when I say something is super effective / not effective then that means we have a type advantage / disadvantage.
