      The answer is yes and no. It largely depends on the area of hair growth. If it’s women’s facial hair in the beard area, chest or naval hair, pulling the hairs out can make it worse. Shaving will not make any type of hair growth worse. Hope this helps.

      Typically the “beard” area is stimulated by hormones. If this hair is getting darker or more coarse over time it is likely due to a hormonal imbalance. I would talk to an endocrinologist or functional medicine doctor about it and to have your hormones evaluated. I wouldn’t expect 3 times of waxing to make it worse but it could get worse on its own if there are underlying causes.

    I used to wax my facial hair specially under the chin and the chin hair as well. However, I stopped because I was busy and didn't wax for three to four weeks. Yet both my upper lip and chin hair are growing faster. And especially I am having more hair on my chin and it's darker. What should I do?

    • @EvelloAiken
      @EvelloAiken ปีที่แล้ว

      Well firstly, your hair grows in cycles and we typically have a growth cycle every 3ish months. So it’s likely you are not actually seeing more hair growth, it’s the hair you already have plus the new growth cycle coming in. Once people stop waxing, they can have a better idea of how much hair is actually there. If you’d like to take care of it permanently, I’d recommend electrolysis or laser depending on the hair color, density and coarseness.

    • @EvelloAiken
      @EvelloAiken 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are getting irritation from threading, tweezing could do the same. Both methods pull hair from the root and can cause an increased risk for more stimulated hair growth, irritation, hyperpigmentation, and ingrown hairs.

      I am sorry you are struggling with unwanted facial hair! It can definitely be so hard to deal with. And I want you to know that you are absolutely NOT ALONE! So many women struggle with hirsutism. That’s mainly why I have a job. I too had unwanted chin hair that was very dark and coarse. So, there are a few things you can do. Shaving is a perfectly fine temporary method. I would also recommend seeing a doctor like (functional medicine practitioner, OBGYN or endocrinologist) to check your hormone levels. There is research that daily spearmint tea can help reduce facial hair. There is also a prescription drug called Spironolactone that can help reduce hair and stop future hair growth. Lastly, watch my video interview to understand hormonal imbalances and it’s relationship to facial hair in women. But by Humans no Doctor/Professor/Skin Doctor /Biologist will tell you that , it increase hair growth. By tweeing hairs or wax it , to muuch you can make it stop growing permanently. But grow more hairs, is not proofed. .

    • @EvelloAiken
      @EvelloAiken 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thank you for the comment and it’s a great question! This has multiple things to consider… first, most studies are done on mice for many drugs and other scientific studies. Not only has it been observed in a controlled scientific study with mice, increased growth has been reported by millions of women. To help you understand more, when hairs are pulled out, in close proximity in hormonal areas of growth (ie. Beard area on the face, chest, naval, and back) then they are actually stimulated over and over by your blood supply and hormones which increases coarseness of hair growth and number of hairs in that area. There are definitely some areas of the body that will become more sparse with continued plucking/waxing like the eyebrows and legs. There is not much hormone stimulation in those areas other than when you enter puberty. It’s a hard thing to understand but definitely is a fact. Waxing is not all bad and definitely can benefit in certain situations. Hope this helps!

      Hi Emily, thank you for your response and opinion. Just wondering if you are a hair removal professional or hormone specialist? To inform you further, there are numerous case studies and articles written on this topic. I recommend you do some research. There are hormonally stimulated areas of the body that include the “beard area”, chest, naval, and inner thighs. The blood supply that feeds your follicles gets stimulated over time and will increase hair growth and coarseness of the hair when consistently tweezed or pulled out. Here is an informative document to help explain. www.healthline.com/health/all-about-plucking-hair Please reach out if you have any other questions. Also it’s best to not post an opinionated statement on a proven fact to confuse people.

      I appreciate your response and watching the video! There are acceptable areas of the body that tweezing will not stimulate hairs. But there are specific circumstances that it definitely will. I work on removing facial hair everyday and have consulted with hundreds of women on hormonal facial & body hair growth. When a woman has unbalanced hormones, pulling out hair in the “beard” areas will stimulate hair growth over time. Read this article for further reference. Also there are MANY studies out there that supports this case. So this is not an opinion by any means. Again, thank you for watching and your response. • @EvelloAiken
      @EvelloAiken 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kassandratan6984 It is true that everyone is different and not ALL women with facial hair have hormonal imbalances. Therefore tweezing, waxing, threading may not stimulate the hair growth. Many women removing hair from the beard area do so due to excessive hair growth and do find increased growth following these hair removal methods. This is due to stimulation from the blood supply and excessive hormone production that stimulates the hair. As far as waxing pubic hair… this will be case to case. It does not typically stimulate growth but can definitely cause ingrown hairs due to the nature of the hair being curly. In my opinion, if the hair is dark & coarse- laser hair removal would definitely be the way to go!

    Great video Nicole! I tried laser hair removal years ago and since I have blond, fine hair, they put a thick charcoal mask on first. It didn’t work, was painful, and I had icky black charcoal in my pores for months. Thanks for posting great content!

      Michelle- I am so sorry for the incompetence of your laser technician! That is just awful. I am glad the video was helpful and I hope others find it informative so they can make an educated decision. Thank you for sharing your experience. 💛

    Greatly needed video, Nicole! I know it took courage to put yourself out there in the world with your story. You're going to help a lot of women with their PCOS. We need to bring more awareness to this underdiagnosed-underresearched syndrome. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. Good Job!

    I would absolutely love to get treatment through you but you are super far away from Pennsylvania! I recently been struggling with PCOS and it is soo stressful 😒 i was diagnosed just yesterday... And about the hair treatment... Isn't permanent hair removal a lot of $$$? That's my only other dilemma. Im so tried of waxing and tweezing! Like you were saying it only makes it worse 😑 my doc just prescribed me Spironolactone but I'm not too sure about it.. There are always side affects to every single "medication". I worry it might make things worse.. Sounds like you've been through a lot with PCOS.. Hopefully you can help me out with a few questions! 🙂

      So glad you commented! Thank you for sharing. I’m sorry you’ve just been diagnosed. It’s somewhat of a blessing because you can make steps to move in the direction of healing. I definitely recommend following PCOS Diva! Please subscribe so you can get updates when I post new videos. ❤️ About the hair growth- laser hair removal is expensive and a lot of money up front! I don’t recommend laser on the face for any circumstance. Electrolysis is much much more affordable! I’d says it’s comparable to the cost of waxing except it’s permanent! 😃 Cost depends on where you live and the cost of supplies and living in the area. Spironolactone is a safe drug that’s been around for a long time. It does have side effects but I’d say it varies for everyone. Your body does get used to it. If you decide to try it, definitely give it a try for a minimum of 6 - 12 months. It takes at least that long to start working. It’s worth a try in my opinion. It is something you do have to continue to stay on to manage your hormones that cause the hair growth. My best advice is to do your research and keep learning! There is a lot to known but take it one day at a time...! You’ve got this!

      @@EvelloAiken Thanks! I've found it really interesting listening to you talk about going gluten/diary free. I started, and then my doctors told me not to bother because my bloods are normal?! So I have found it really confusing...

      @@HealthandHormonesuk Yes, I’ve heard the same from mine. But I’ve tested it for myself and I consistently stop having a cycle when I eat gluten. And it returns when I stop eating it. Just recently though I’ve learned it could be contributed more to the Fructans that are in gluten containing foods. But I haven’t tested that for myself yet.
