Klingon K'Tinga paint update 3
I'm finally done painting this kit and added "House " colors to it. I just need to figure out how to add the bridge windows before doing the gloss coat before doing the decals.

Just a little progress on a project I'm taking my time on. The wings were pretty easy to work onpainted the frames while they were on the sprue with Vallejo model air faded PRU blue and the wash was Tamiya black panel line wash and it darkened the blue just the way I hoped. The smaller parts were painted the same way with the PRU blue but the gray painted areas were painted with colors from the...

Today I am unboxing a kit that showed up yesterday on my doorstep. 1/72 scale TU-22M2 Backfire B Bomber which is literally a very huge kit which when built would be almost as long as a 1/72 B-52 kit just not as wide. Unboxing a WWII M1 Westinghouse liner
มุมมอง 29วันที่ผ่านมา
I'm unboxing a Westinghouse liner that is a little unique. Some of you viewers who are quite familiar with M1 helmet liners might figure it out right away from the color of the interior which indicates a flaw in the liner. But this one is also unique as it has a corked texture found on the exterior of M1 steel helmets. That texture is quite cool and unusual.
SPH-4 dual visor flight helmet unboxing

Got this helmet in on Friday and it is pretty unique with the SPH-3 Dual visor kit installed on it. As it is this helmet is probably 95% complete I only need to buy a mic boom and the visor knobs as I already have the visors already and I have some period correct microphones available to put on it.
New McCord helmet
มุมมอง 34หลายเดือนก่อน
Picked this helmet up at our local antique mall on Friday. Last week I picked up a WWII liner from the same shop. The helmet is a FSSB Maganese rim heat number 1096. The liner it comes with is a complete liner made by CAPAC using Westinghouse molds. At some point I'll try to do a restoration of it.

Today I am unboxing Trumpeter's 1/144 A50 Mainstay AWACS aircraft kit. Based on the IL-76 Candid transport aircraft which is loosely based on the USAF C-141 Starlifter. Fuselage is pretty long but there is no interior since the kit is pretty small as it is so you really won't see anything anyways. Detail looks pretty good of course I also own the 1/144 IL-76 kit though.

Nice liner. That's an old one. I hope you had a good Christmas.
@@jimmymarsh2489 It's old and didn't have enough resin in it when it was made.
@michaelbenjmitchell1 I had a really thin liner that I gave to a guy for his helmet because it was flimsy and he took it home and sprayed something on it that strengthened the liner and made it look new again. It felt really smooth. If I can find out from him, I'll let you know. How many helmets do you have now? I've got 11 so far
@jimmymarsh2489 I think I am over 14 helmets now. Especially with the back to back front seam maganese rim helmets I got last month that were from the same lot 1047 and 1096.
Hey I am starting to collect helmets myself and I bought an HGU 84/p and several other SPH3s and 4s do you know any websites where they sell good replacement parts and tapes?
Flight helmet .com does sell replacement parts and tape but the tape I got for that helmet I got off of Ebay. The tape is reflective white from 3M some of the sellers you can choose your color and how big a roll you want to get and how wide the tape is. 1" and 2" widths are the max you want to go with. Now if you look at my other HGU-84 videos as those show the progress.
Very nice helmet. I dont know why your videos haven't been popping up lately. Looks like you got a good score on this helmet. $60 is not bad at all.. you got a deal. Thanks for sharing it with us. How many helmets are you up to now?
excelent helmet!
I was shocked when I saw the heat lot number that it was from the same production run as the one I got in a couple weeks ago.
muy buena idea la de volver a los cascos m1!
More of repairing what is broken on it though.
Very nice 😊
Also the cork texturing is original to that helmet and 100% intact to boot.
This guy needs help. Not impressed.
Really!
Simple and straight to the point great video
That was a good find!
Right place right time and the right price.
Thanks for running annoyingly loud water for half the video
Riveting content.
hopefully that fully explained where those posts came from in both the clear and translucent kits.
Looks good, post when you get it done!
I have a update up with more tape on it. and parts put back on.
Excelent
Looks great. What’s the height on this once it’s built?
Over 6 inches tall from the feet to the top of the radar dish.
looks like a fun Macross ship!
@@PitstainHobbies I also have the 1/72 macross destroyers mecha and Zentraedi battlepod kits.
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 very rare gems, enjoy!
Those look so cool! I love Macross! Can't wait to see you working on those.
With the way these kits are designed wouldn't take much effort to get rid of the seams on the LST and Bretai's flagship. Ond these kits are around 40 years old I'm surprised Bandai didn't pick up the Macross licence for these ships like they did with the 1/72 scale Macross Mecha. I have the Spartan Defender and BattlePod kits that Bandai repopped 2 years ago.
underated
This guy is really a protectionist
On top of that I did the restoration work on that particular helmet shell which happened to be a WWII era McCord.
What is the cover made of and where did you get it?
@BibleEnthusiast8194 It's a original and I got it from Ebay. I think it's cotton and it is a double stamp.
Nice helmet! Post a video of you wearing it after liner replacement.
That would be a idea. Especially since I picked up a second MBU-12 a green one from 1983.
Nice upload 🪖
@tugadashcamsuk5946 yeah and both helmets are both from the 7th BW from the former Carswell AFB. The camo taped one will be a long term restoration project to resurrect a rare helmet.

Working on a mid to late war era 82nd airborne gwod kit almost done just need a hydration blater for my ocp carrier

Love this video, I recently finished my FIRST GWOT kit, based off the US Marines in Iraq Circa 2003 and I am moving onto the US Army. The item that got my eye was what seemed to be a bladder/FLC harness or whatever.
I need to find a XL woodland Interceptor Body armor for another kit.
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 I know one just sold on Ebay, with soft inserts. But it was at a hefty $300
@@THUMPER10 That was around how much this one was. Though I had to buy the side plates and carriers separately.
Originally I applied the Mitchell camouflage cover to my Vietnam War M1 helmet (same as yours, received two weeks ago) but then it looked all loose and wrinkled and sloppy. So I searched how to make it tighter and have it conform as snugly to my helmet as possible. Then I discovered this great video, followed your steps, and now the helmet cover fits as tightly and snugly to my helmet as possible. Thank you so much for making this video. It totally helped. I'll never get over my M1 helmet (as you can tell from my profile photo lol).
Funny thing my last name is also the same as the Mitchell Cover.
@@michaelbenjmitchell1Funny thing it's also the last name of the only playable character of the Advanced Warfare campaign.

I haven't built it yet.
That is some attention to detail, nicely done! Definitely subscribed for more updates, and thank you for sharing.
Sure helps when there are videos of the real filming miniature on TH-cam to check on details. And I need to buy one more color I need to buy some Vallejo Model Air Intermediate Blue as the Flanker colors are too light for the dark blue color but one of them will be used for the light blue color though.
i have the yamaguchi in clear are planning to light your model
Not that one but the other Yamaguchi kit I will be lighting. I'm using that one as a test piece so I'm not wasting time lighting it but to also test out the paint and paint masks before committing to the other two kits I have.
Good to see what it looks like but, $60???? That's effing insane!
Still cheaper than buying the Clear edition of the kit just to get the decals. (Clear not translucent to clarify things) That damned Clear kit if you can find it is nearly $200!
Oh and Dirk I think I changed my mind about doing my Opaque kit as Syracuse. I might do the Excalibur-A instead from New Frontier book series.
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 Be better off gettting the original kit
@@Dirks_NUMA_Files LOL Dirk you are behind the times man Translucent kit is the cheapest option with no drilling of windows required. The Fiber Optic kit is still cheaper than the Clear Edition kit though.
Very cool! We Would like to se your full uniform👍
Very nice! Thats a cool thing to have in your collection👍
Really nice kit! Pity I don't have the space for something that big.
It's about as big as the Monogram kit in 1/48 scale.
😎👍 Cool!
Yeah this helmet pretty much reminded me of my childhood on Air Force bases. My dad was with the 94th and 71st Fighter Squadrons and the F-15 pilots used the HGU-55 and the gray and green MBU-12's.
will you do a short review after you apply them to your model?
I actually have to build the Yamaguchi first before I do that. After seeing what Epyc Models did with a similar Enterprise C aztec set I might try it. And I definitely want to get another G-Cals set for the Enterprise C kit I got in today.
I just got in a front seam but it's not the stainless steel rim. It's the same metal as the helmet but a front seam. Have you ever heard or seen that before? It has a high heat stamp number. Like 1083 A
Might be a Schlueter. But definitely might be a goof with the rim accidentally being put on backwards but I have seen a helmet like you described. Heck I have a rear seam Stainless steel rim on my Mccord 899D that wasn't supposed to be a rear seam.
@michaelbenjmitchell1 now that's pretty cool. Rear seam McCord. I thought the same thing, that they were probably goofing off with the new mag-na-neeze rear seams. I could definitely see myself doing something like that 😆 if I were supposed to be switching helmets that are supposed to be a certain way. I like the helmet, man. Nice haul. Hope all is well
@@jimmymarsh2489 I did get another Schlueter earlier this year with original chinstraps attached. Front Seam Swivel bale. This time it is a low number Schlueter 43A.
@michaelbenjmitchell1 that's awesome man. That's a low number. Very early helmet
Thats such a cool looking model , congrats on getting that. Now i want to get 1 , my rooms so cluttered i dunno where to put it.
I have this one and the original Opaque kit.
It is a nice idea for those who want to light it up, but masking all those windows will take for ever.
You just scrape the paint from the windows like on the clear version. Plus it beats drilling out all those windows. LOL
Nice liner! For being 63 years old is in fairly good condition.
Nice Kit. I like the various paint schemes of the rockets! Those Russians ended up mounting those rocket launchers everywhere, next will see one on a bike.

It's a "Transitional" MBU-12/P as the early grey hoses were found to be defective and the contractors had huge stocks of the green hoses.
Awesome item of history thanks for showing 😊
Wow great helmet keep it up!
This is my 3rd Schlueter helmet but my first with intact chinstraps. I installed the ball release onto the chinstrap a couple days ago so it is now complete. And the shell is a very early Schlueter Heat number 43A not 243A as I was mistaken.
