    I've found that using the "Fuzzy Skin" setting in Cura works well. Then lightly sand. Use a wood stain and wipe off. Then spray on a satin or matte varnish. If that's too much work, just use the "Fuzzy Skin" and call it a day!

    Just make the surface of your part have a wood texture, like the bark of a tree, the wooden filament will help with the illusion of it being real wood

    The way I see it, get ONE 3D printer and print some stuff, see how it goes, and put some stuff on Etsy. If, and only if, your business takes off, get more and start a print farm. Don’t shell out multiple thousands of dollars for a business that won’t take off for multiple years, or possibly ever. Worst case scenario, you only bought one 3D printer and can now 3D print cool shit for yourself so that’s neat

    • @3dDesignBros

      Totally. Thats a big reason why its great. It doesn't require thousands of dollars of investment into huge machines like typical manufacturing.

    The P1P is a practical suggestion based on value - cost, reliability, print quality, etc. Bambu Lab is a complete non starter for me because of their approach to intellectual property and their lack of respect for my privacy and security. They stood on the back of decades of open source development, layered on a thin veneer of their proprietary technology and locked it all down in their closed garden built atop a mountain of open source technology. The default is printing through the Bambu cloud server and they make it very cumbersome to print offline. There is no way I'm sending the design I created from my computer to their server and then back to the 3D printer that's two feet from my computer. The only reasons I can think of for doing that is so Bambu can have access to my designs. I won't buy any product from a company that would do that.

  • @Liberty4Ever

    Great video. Practical in formation, easy to understand and apply, but not dumbed down. FlashForge has always made solid reliable 3D printers with good features and it's surprising that they never achieved as much broad acceptance in the market as they deserve, but they maintain a loyal base of customers. Maybe it's one of the oddities of marketing. FlashForge has been killing it lately. For anyone interested in multi-color or multi-filament printing, the new FlashForge AD5X looks great. Four reels mount to the right side of the printer for easy access, and their clever filament multiplexer swaps filaments at the nozzle for minimal filament waste (aka poop) when changing filaments. It's also possible to load the multi-reel system with the same filament and the printer will automatically switch to the next reel for trouble free printing with no filament waste at the end of a reel. As if all of that isn't enough, the IFS multi-filament system is capable of printing typical 95A durometer TPU, something that Bambu, Creality, et al cannot do. I print a lot of TPU for my small print farm so this is huge. The ability to print a structural material such as PETG, PET-CF or ABS with print in place rubber feet or rubber pads on top is huge. Modern slicers support maximum strength interfacing between dissimilar materials so only a few layers of overlap are needed which minimizes waste from changing filaments and keeps print time low. Instead of buying wooden plates to place under each printer, you can buy concrete slabs. The mass will dampen vibration. 3D printed TPU feet can further decouple the printer from the rack so each printer is mechanically isolated from the others. Putting rubber shock mount feet above and below the concrete slabs would further isolate each printer from the others.

    Its NOT profitable - you can't even break even! The one problem no one ever covers is there's zero market gap to have. Basically anyone who wants to print just buys a printer. Anyone who knows they need a lot of printing to be done simply buys a printer. The result is there is basically no need for a 'print farm business' as everyone just does it themself. Then the few established ones have already got the entire market and due to either being funded by donations (maker spaces), being run by universities, or by the printer manufacturers or distributors (might as well make the customer demo's generate revenue), there are no customers. Basically its impossible to be cheaper than those already in the business, thus you'll never get any customers and thus will never make any money. Basically if you can print and sell a product that only you can offer (at least until someone clones it and gives it away online for free), there's zero way to make money from: * 3D printing * Laser Cutting / Laser Engraving * CNC Machining TLDR: You can't make money as a 'print farm' as the entire market is fully saturated, and because most people just buy printers and print what they need because its cheaper for them in the long run. Thus you can't make money. The same applies to laser cutting, laser engraving and CNC machining. Its impossible to be cheaper than the existing solutions as they're not intending to run as 'for profit' so they don't care about under-charging, and, the manufacturers of printers who run a print service so that they have endless useful 'customer demos' don't care if they make no money on the prints as they make the money selling the super expensive printers ($20k+).

    • @LilApe
      @LilApe 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I make money as a print farm...becasue I sell a product that nobody else in the world makes. Something I've trademarked and patented. I've sold over 500 units at over $100 a piece. over $50k revenue with over 95% of it being profit in my pocket. With literally zero marketing done or paid for. If you buy a 3d printer and make all the same crap that other people do, then sure, good luck being profitable. Everyone and their grandma can sell crystal dragons ripped off from thingiverse.

    @wwda-c1r 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    For print farms nowadays, finding a niche is indeed crucial. While it can be difficult to start, but once you get in, things become much easier. Customized demands /selling daily need items like cookie cutters on platforms like Etsy /find offline festivals could be a great entry point. I believe this market is still a blue ocean-at least every month, I see posts about people earning thousands of dollars with just a dozen machines.I bulk-purchased their AD5M and dual-silk filaments, which have been performing quite well in the offline market, and I plan to test how they perform on Etsy these days.

    • @matthewnirenberg
      @matthewnirenberg 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The reality is there are no available niches. Even selling 3D printed cookie cutters is illegal in most of the world as they aren't 'food safe' and certified by the health department. No point getting locked up for violating the government's health laws. The only people who are making money are the ones who became fully established with a loyal customer base about 10yrs ago. There is no 'market gap' anymore as most people just buy a printer themself and print what they need because in the long run its far cheaper and far more 'available' than any 'print farm'. The people who are 'making money' are either printing and selling their own product that's been established for a long time, or they're lying and only 'making money' by multiplying out 'potential profitability' and then claiming they're making that when they're not. The reality is most of those people are actually getting more from the monetization of their videos than they are from their 'print farm'.

    Now that 3D printers are so prevalent (comparatively to the past), and they are so easy to use - the whole 3D printing farm for money being pushed by youtubers like this just is not a reality in 2025. Sure there are exceptions, and you really have to have a niche product that you have designed, but in general the whole 3D printing market is oversaturated. Tubers will casually show numbers like, make $1000 in 30 days - but they are just not realistic in todays market. Don't be fooled into thinking you can buy a couple Bambu printers, and just find some stuff on printables and sell it, and start raking in a couple thousand a month on your "side hustle". Most these dudes are making way more on their video's then they do selling 3d printed parts.

    • @Morendie91
      @Morendie91 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I mean I made 16k last month between etsy and ebay on 3d printing, I started in march. You certainly can do it, but if your walking in thinking you can just buy a couple printers and print some random stuff and poof then your not ready to make it a business. You need to go in knowing what your going to do and have a plan for it. If your just buying a couple of printers with no printer experience your just not ready to make the steps to making it a business. Its true there is saturation, but thats because its saturated with people who think they can just do this when they are far from ready. While you CAN its simply not that easy to just do.

    I don't know. Seems like it's completely over saturated like EVERYTHING else! Nobody wants a real job anymore and everyone is looking for a "side hustle", and being that you can start this up with a small credit card the real question is who's NOT going to do it?

    Yea you can. I had no previous laser experience and launched my product within a week and had made thousands of profit within 3 weeks. Plenty of people have these machines, but they do not have the savvy to select and sell winning products . You can’t teach that it a natural and also comes with a mindset and analytical skills

    All my print friends will know of this tool. Glad my algorithm likes me. The ideas of @stephanebastien6334 would be amazing. As well as the A.I. and API integration you mentioned in the video. Thank You.

    As someone who was a Etsy Seller for 1 year, I suggest not even doing Etsy. They are honestly a rip off and they steal from their sellers... Every sale I made over all I made $20 out of $1500.. Better off either using Google Sites or anything that is low cost.
