Creating the Best Worldbuilding Plugin for Unreal Engine 5 (W/ Dash Co-founder)
Welcome to the Future Familiar podcast. In this first episode, I'm joined by Adnan, the founder of PolygonFlow and creator of Dash.
Adnan shares his journey from a student in Mauritania watching online tutorials to developing tools for Maya, working at Quixel, and eventually launching his own company. We discuss the challenges and rewards of building PolygonFlow, and explore his perspectives on the future of digital art.
The conversation also touches on advice for new artists trying to break into the industry, offering both inspiration and practical insights. Whether you're a professional or just starting out in 3D art and worldbuilding, I think you'll find value in Adnan's experiences and thoughts.
I'd love to hear what you think about this first episode. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments, and thanks for listening.

Glad I found your channel. Looking forward to the tutorials and info.
Appreciate it!
As much as I enjoy the speed and results of MidJourney, it leaves me worried and feeling empty about the future of my own career, as well as that of my colleagues-many of whom have mortgages and families to support. Your tips are great, and I genuinely appreciate the insights. However, I noticed your comment about not wanting to engage in the debate over using 'in the style of' prompts. The reality is, by making this video, you're already part of that discussion. Without the core ideas, styles, and innovations created by real artists, where are we headed in terms of true, raw creativity? As a photographer who has spent three decades refining my craft, I see how AI can now replicate work that took years to develop with just a fraction of the effort. This is a complex issue, and I think it's important to consider how this technology intersects with the hard-earned skills and creativity of artists-the very people whose work has taught these generators.
Seems great!
I wasn’t very convinced by how powerful dash is, but you made me really pumped to give it a shot again. Subscribed and looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials, cheers!
That's great to hear! Would love to get your thoughts once you get a chance to play with it :D Tutorials will be out alongside Dash's next update, so fingers crossed that will be in the coming weeks
Is this dash free?
They offer a flexible free trial to check it out, a range of sub options from student to enterprise as well as a 1x perpetual purchase for those who prefer that over a subscription
The dash people are awesome, you can buy a license or go with subscription.
Dash is great because they listen to their user, you can buy Dash instead of going the subscription route.
Damn it! Why did TH-cam just recommend this clip? It seems easier to use than connecting nodes.
That's how I felt when I first discovered Dash as well 😄
Some people love nodes, we are here for everyone else ❤ Or use both.
When I set assets from dash in unreal engine 5.4 is Impossible to save the scene until i erases all the assets that I was setting with dash, impossible of using and a can’t fix! Some body was having the same experience?
I'd recommend checking out the Polygonflow Discord for support, they are incredibly responsive in my experience I'm sure they could get you sorted out pretty quickly 😃
Great chat and a worthy guest. Great to hear your voice Adnan!
Appreciate you checking it out!
Ive been using his tools since he started coding them..... always appreciated how they solved things that were so ubiquitous that I couldn't believe Autodesk could take peoples money but never improve anything. Blender is free and has better tools than most legacy DCC packages at this point. Dash is everything I wanted when I started world building in UE. Keep up the good work, and thanks for this interview. I came across it on LinkedIn, nice to hear from the man behind the software.
Appreciate the comment thanks for checking out the podcast!
i am subbing to you. I came into UE interested in film production and enrolled in a course that was on sale. Then I saw this show up on my feed. I am not disappointed. I am very interested in this tool and how it will effect creating landscapes.
Thanks I appreciate it, hope you enjoy Dash!
Damn, I do need this... Also, great video! I WILL use this! I want more!
Thanks Corey I appreciate it!
where is the tool?

The cat ❤
haha yeah they love to sneak in the videos, someday I'll have to put together a montage of all the cat-induced outtakes 😅
is it paid?
it should be
Kind of agree. But it's not.
They offer a flexible free trial to check it out, a range of sub options from student to enterprise as well as a 1x perpetual purchase for those who prefer that 😃
“Completely changed how great worlds I can build in UE, at the fraction of the time” - that’s powerful
That's definitely how it feels! 😀
❤
i always had an interest in 3d model scenery etc. but never worked on it i tried blender in 2021 created an model for donut and then gave up as i wasnt getting anything but i am once again of thinking to pickup tat hobby and thinking to buy an drawing tablet huion h1060p its an cheap tablet with no display
Hi, I have a query, pls reply-I am not from technical background and nor so creative as well. But interested in creating animation videos. Recently I have started practicing for 2 D animation videos. Please suggest if a non technical person can learn 3D animtion, how much time it will taketo learn it and laptop/software configuration requirements for same.
For what software is the approach
I go over the structure of the curriculum around 14:30 but in general it includes: Blender, Unreal 5, Marmoset, Substance Painter/Designer, Marvelous, Speedtree, and Maya
i have intrest in 3d, im studing 3d in india in Maac institute and i also want to learn from your tutorials, i wanted to know that how can i get discount Code and which which softwares are u going to teach ?
Hey there! Like I mention in the video if you reach out on Instagram in a DM I can generate you a code, as far as particular software check out the FAQ in the landing page of the curriculum 😊
Thank You! I'm in 🎉
Glad to have you!
Awesome
Thanks!
I appreciate your posting on TH-cam as well. Please continue. I likely wouldn't have found your channel but for their efficient/scary algorithms here. Podcast discovery has always been extremely hit/miss (for me). I like your take on the FOMO and/or perceived threats to those of us who have made a living in this space and trying very hard to make the correct decisions moving forward... if anybody even knows what those are right now.
Appreciate the comment, will definitely be uploading them to a dedicated playlist here on TH-cam 😊
Hi thank you so much for this idk how to say it but im one of few ppl who can't afford this hah x)
No worries, if you reach out through DM on Instagram I'll generate you a code
Hi I can't sign up in your website I think is there problem to sign up
Hello! I had a few other people successfully sign up today so maybe give it a second shot. If you still can’t sign up please feel free to shoot me a DM on Instagram and maybe we can sort it out together
Yo. I subbed to your newsletter. How do I download the sky boxes? PS: Great Video! EDIT: I got em! Thank you a ton!
Hey yeah unfortunately it takes a few minutes to get there, glad it arrived though, enjoy!
Great LUT's but unfortunately I don't have a credit card. I would buy them but since there is no PayPal payment option, that's bad.
Thanks for the comment Marco! I went ahead and enabled Paypal as a checkout option 😀 Have a good one!
@@futurefamiliar That was quick... thank you ☺
2027 at School. 7th grade exam in art: "Name the 5 most important prompts to recreate a Van Gogh painting." 😄 So the more you want to get out of Midjourney the more you need to know about art and visual design. Seems logic and like a good thing 😃.
I just purchased the curriculum. I am so excited and thanks for the opportunity
Awesome, hope you find it helpful and if you have any feedback or want to share your experience please feel free to DM us on IG or shoot us an email 🤍
Thank you for this useful and beautiful video. I want to ask you, since you mentioned the problem of repeating learning or repeating the learning cycle, can you give me the best idea for a cinematic scene that includes all types of animation features in Blender? For example, I want to learn animation from A to Z, starting with one scene that I practice daily until I master everything that can be learned. If you can advise me I will be grateful
If you're completely new to 3D I'd very much recommend going through the first two terms of the curriculum, it will introduce you to all of the core concepts you'll need in Blender before taking on animation. It will also get you acquainted with a dozen or so creators that teach Blender, many of which have animation courses as well. Off hand I would recommend checking out CGCookie's Blender Animation Bootcamp if you're wanting to start with core animation concepts and Max Hay's TH-cam channel for some excellent walkthroughs of full cinematic scenes built as short cinematic vignettes that are beautiful as reels on social. Best of luck!!
Thank You ❤
My pleasure!
This is a video I didn't know I needed to watch, thank you
This is great! Thank you for the effort. I'm a self-taught 3d environment artist who spent last year swimming in the sea of tutorials online and will always be to some extent :) I'm not sure what's your plan for updating the curriculum periodically because I feel like that would be a huge undertaking for yourself in the long run - I could be wrong. I wonder if there's a way for people to contribute to the curriculum since I'm sure a lot of artists, like myself, will continuously be looking up resources and already have bunch of tutorials and online resources bookmarked. But again, I'm sure there will be some complexity to that approach as well in terms of managing the contribution. Regardless, I'll definitely be checking out the curriculum. Thanks!
You're absolutely right and its definitely something we've talked about on our side while developing the curriculum initially. There really is no easy answer since as you mention doing it all ourselves perpetuallyor trying to manage a crowd sourced approach both have their pros and cons. Our thoughts at the moment are that once the curriculum builds up enough traction we'll reach out to everyone who has enrolled and invite to a closed group either on Discord or Circle where hopefully students can share their thoughts on videos that could use an update or their experience with a paid tutorial we should consider adding. We hesitate to launch that too soon since I think for the community to thrive and gain traction we'd need to have a decent number of students joining the server at the same time rather than trickling in. Either way that's our plan at the moment, appreciate your comment and hope you've found some value in the curriculum so far!
This is great! The book reco’s alone have made it to my coffee table. Soooooo helpful. Thank you.
Really appreciate the support Peter, keep killing it over on IG!
Great stuff, very helpful many thanks.
Great video/update (even though I'm a bit late to the party)! With regard to the 3D thing in MJ... honestly, what they're aiming for is much more useful to me. I don't see the value in being able to export meshes, because even if they could be useful now, as part of scene builds and so on, AI/MJ is soon going to be able to produce all of the things we normally do in 3D anyway. I know there are AR/VR use cases (and probably others I can't think of right now), which will probably be the last to surrender, but I can't wait for a time when I don't have to use 3 or 4 apps just to model, texture, create effects and so on.
This is very motivated for me as an beginner 3D artist, I’m currently learning at Vancouver film school which is one of those high end art school, but at same time I’ll be using this curriculum as a tool to self thought some basic stuff so I can focus on art direction, anyway the 5 dollar price tag is unexpected 😂 we need more people like you to help new artists!
Ah I'm super glad to hear it, please feel free to reach out if you have any thoughts or feedback as you work your way through it along with your studies!
Nice video, mate. Very informative
Thanks I appreciate that!
Great work, compliments. Thx 4 all!
looks like reverie is nothing no development, like its just a scam to get the epic megagrant
Awesome feature! Love seeing our HDRIs at work and presented so well. Added to our community tutorials playlist. 👌✨
this is an amazing resource. thank you for sharing your findings with us!!
16:15 try Topaz Photo AI - is is the successor of Gigapixel.
Beautiful. Well presented.
IG page brought me here but this channel is pretty good too :)
well i tried it but the styles are behind paywall, so... back to ansel and watchdogs legion for those nice urban sphericals.. :)
So cool. Thanks for sharing this fantastic video. Definitely gonna try this workflow. :)
Glad you found it helpful!!
can the AI HDRI Generator generate an HDRI out of an existing image?
