I can't help feeling that Garmin should have gone with something like the SQUARE. An affordable camera based LM, that's a step up from the R10? Sales wise it would have cleaned up.

What’s the distance from your tee box to the screen?

What tee are you using for the Driver? I'm having a tough time getting the Garmin to register my drives with the tees I have. Also curious which projector is being used?

Building a sim now. If sim golf is not my main sport and I’m not into the gamer side of it. Will this Garmin r50 be sufficient enough to help me keep lowering my handicap while getting the best analysis? I like I can plug it directly into a tv and call it a day.

My main concern with the SQUARE is its flimsy build quality. How is that thing going to stand up to a few knocks, over a few years?. The LM that Joe Lagowski is testing at the moment looks more promising.

For that price, I don’t want to be crouching down or laying down to control the unit. They need to make a “home model” option or whatever, that is like 4 ft taller, so I can stand and use the touch screen. Shouldn’t cost that much more to do that, 3 feet of empty space (or make it a cabinet) and longer wires to reach up to the screen.

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I just bought the unit for Christmas, but haven’t unpacked it yet. Am I to understand we cannot send it to both the projector and to a TV monitor. Can you not use the USB-C to go to the monitor?

Garmin should have made something like the Square Golf unit. The R50 doesn't make any sense. Just another subscription required, to unlock the GSPRO subscription, overpriced unit. It won't sell well.

The product looks solid. What makes me nervous about Garmin is they will abandon the product development and updates quickly, like they did for the R10 never adding the promised club head speed etc. Garmin are a lot better with support and updates of mainstream watches etc than a few years ago, but this is a very expensive product for us and not a core product for them, not like trackman or GC quad where its their core business with a mainly professional userbase.

The R50 looks like the way to go, just wondering if if picks up gear effect for those heel/toe shots?

Do you think the Grass Tex Money Putt would stand up to being rolled up after each use to allow me to park my car in my garage sim I'm building out? I'm sure parking on it every day would damage it, so trying to find something that can be rolled up towards the impact screen following use without coming apart within a few months.

If you are able to do a thorough put speed reading comparison between the R50 and your Webcam Putting, that could be interesting.

Ive had an R50 for a week and I'm very happy with it. It's the first LM I’ve had but I've been thinking about buying one for ages. When it came out I felt sure it was exactly what I wanted and it hasn't disappointed. So easy to use. I just bought a net and a mat and I'm up and running in my garage. The only problem I've got is my young adult kids are loving it too and it's hard to get a go myself. That's a joke I am loving that we all do it together and they are really into it.

i guess its just me ive played on gspro a few times.... I dont think it looks bad by any means but i also dont think it looks as amazing as some people either

What is displayed on your tv screen? I thought there was only one HDMI port.

any hiccups or issues of the device not working or picking up on the ball? I purchased Skytrak old and new model that I ended up selling because of the issues I had. Hate to spend that kind of money again and have the same issues.

what setting do you have in gspro where it goes from finishing a hole with that little flyover to the next tee?

To avoid the accidental putt could you have moved the ball with your foot?

Is the time that moment hangs around for data and mulligans something you can set? Seems a little fast

Cool video, thank you for doing that 🙏. I don’t know that any indoor unit (regardless of price) will ever be able to fully simulate what a putt will do on an actual green. I’d definitely advise against using any of these units to work on your putting as there are way too many factors on real greens that affect how the ball rolls.

I have both the mlm2pro and Garmin r50, I use the r50 more now just at an outdoor range, currently building a home SIM room to use on gspro, I like the accuracy of the r50 the mlm2pro is great but I noticed from alot of use and actually seeing ball flight, the accuracy is off on faster ball speeds it would actually show shots straighter than what I seen in ball flight. Love the content

Quick question-what’s the blue box on the floor you use to realign your shot? You typically tap it with your club which is cool and convenient!
