First time running in 40 years! 1948 Simplicity Model D walking tractor

My Dad owned this walking tractor for well over 40 years. It was parked when he got a rototiller and later a Bolens 1050 tractor with various attachments. He has given it to me and I certainly wanted to hear it run again. It has a Clinton model 727 engine. One thing that surprised him and I was the tires pumped up and held air! There is a cultivator and a sickle bar mower for this I hope to try another time. #antique #old #vintage #engine

I bought this engine from a friend. It was on a Motomower years ago. It was stored inside but hadn't run in about 10 years. Freed up the exhaust valve, cleaned and gapped the points, and replaced the gasket for the gear reduction. A real nice running engine with a solid sound. The Kingston carburetor is unique and the decompression is only on the hand crank models as far as I know. #engine #ant...

This machine is great for sharpening chainsaw chains and you can leave it sharpen while you do something else. Plus it's fun to watch. :)

Start -up at 2:16. This is a 1955 Toro Sportlawn 18" reel mower. I like these reel mowers with engines on them. It also reminds me of the old cartoons that have a scene with a mower, they often show a reel mower with an engine. The engine is a Briggs 5s. #old #engine #mower #antique

This was a $20 find. There were some missing parts as well as some modifications that weren't helping. Part of the engine was covered in a thick outdoor paint, like what would be used on a wooden fence. I chose dark gray for an industrial look. The 6:1 gear reduction makes me think of an engine built for work. #engine #old #vintage

This is a Craftsman labeled Briggs that came from a rototiller. The tiller was going to be scrapped. I pulled off the engine. It has been sitting for a year or two and who knows how long it was sitting before that. I cleaned the carburetor, replaced the pump diaphragm and tank gasket. This engine didn't take much to get running, but smoked badly. The top of the piston was covered in oil even with a brief runtime. I took the engine apart, cleaned everything, honed the cylinder and replaced the rings. All new gaskets, and it runs again with much less smoke. I would have liked to bore this one, but as you know costs start adding up. I also cleaned everything and painted it. Ano...

This engine was running but started knocking. The engine was taken apart for evaluation and rebuilt with parts as needed. The crankshaft end play was too much. This was corrected. This is part 3. In the last video of this Briggs it was running but there were a few things left to complete it. The kickstart has a new chain and the threads cleaned up on the stud to hold the spark plug wire clamp. Also there is a reproduction muffler installed now. It is mounted to an old sawmill cut board.
