Hello, Alex here and welcome to my channel!
I post predominantly about a 00 gauge railway based on the South Coast called 'Beaglington-On-Sea' which is a 6x4 foot layout located, like myself, in South Wesht County Kerry, Ireland. I post videos of running the layout, reviewing/unboxing items usually in a series called The Beaglington Review and I also have other series about another layout I'm building called Coln St. Aldwyns which is known as Project Aldwyn.

You call this a Christmas Special? No trains running? Shame on you, lol. Christmas is a time for giving and to be with one's family. Don't tell me you didn't do the all-important Christmas Shopping, for your family. Why didn't you and your wife share a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe? It's a Christmas Tradition. Merry Christmas This is what we learn from the start: Christmas means little without family in your heart. It has its rhyme and its reason, And I hope you and yours have the most joyous season.
Only one goods train running? I expected to see all manner of steamies in action (meaning tender engines), hauling heavy Santa Special trains. Merry Christmas, although I've had the most rotten Christmas ever. I'm suffering a bad cough and a cold that isn't quite so bad. My coughing kept my Mum awake at night.
Hope you and your family had a happy Christmas Alex from New Zealand Enjoy your entertaining video,s, looking forward to 2025 for more😃🎄🍺
Sam's Trains wagon... does it have sprung buffers? does look good though Happy Christmas to you & puss, and happy new year :)
Enjoyed the chrismas special, even Smutpuss put in an appearance. Have a great Christmas.
Season's Greetings and best wishes for 2025
It does help to clean the engines' driving wheels before operations begin. That's why a single spark emerged from beneath the wheels of the engine, who shouldn't be without a cab. Make sure the track is cleaned all the way round. Dirty wheels and dirty track cause unwanted problems, such as stalling on points. Merry Christmas in any case, to the engines who were given a sensible load to haul.
nicely done, good to watch stuff running. P2 & Signal look like a decent catch as well merry Christmas to you & puss
You're not the only one feeling unwell. I'm not so good myself, I was sick yesterday. Merry Christmas to you, your family and model steamies. To Smutpuss too.
Short and very sweet! I hope you get better soon and I am looking forward to the Xmas Special tomorrow. By the way, hasn't Christmas rushed up on us quickly this year 😯😯
"quite and old kit"... no kidding :) that said its not a bad range, the breakdown crane and goods wagons are very good for the price
Not every real footbridge you see is painted green, but I have an idea to make your footbridge look more Christmassy. Simply stick on a holly wreath with a red bow at the top to the center panels. If you want to, that is.
Hola kelly
way better than the Hornby ones, wouldn't be too hard to personalise either
The Christmas Special ought to be uploaded on Monday, just so I can watch it before I go away to my Mum and stay with her for four days. Glad you've got Percy, but there's also the small matter of a request from me. Perhaps you could save it for me till after New Year.
I'm going to try have it up by Sunday afternoon/evening, things are a bit hectic as it's almost Xmas, my daughter was unwell and I've got killer toothache but it's coming together. What would you like to see running in the Xmas special?
@@Beaglington Are you sure you haven't scoffed too many sweets, lol? Uh, you're asking me what I'd like to see running in the Christmas Special? That's very nice of you. Well, if you can oblige one little rule, for a start, I don't want to see any stinky diesels running. Smutpuss might cause Christmas Chaos and we don't want that. I'd like to see all manner of steamies running with goods and Santa Special passenger trains alike. Tender engines are stronger than tank engines, so please go easy with the loads of presents to be delivered. Please include Thomas with Annie and Clarabel and his friends too. Christmas isn't Christmas without Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. Let Smutpuss join in with the festive fun. To add to all that, some Christmas music wouldn't come amiss. You can use music from Kevin MacLeod's channel, like Deck the Halls or Jingle Bells.
Michelangelo at work :)
Alex's local publican scratching his head. 'I'm sure i ordered more placemats for Christmas'.
When you're not playing with trains, it is essential that the whole oval of track is covered with either sheets of A4 paper (printing paper will do) or flexi-cardboard sheets. This keeps the dust off and reduces the need to use a track rubber so often. It helps keep the track clean. Clean the engines' driving wheels with cotton buds to ensure smooth running at both ends. Unless you want the Christmas Special to be a 5-star disaster, that is, which I'm sure you don't. Even if the Christmas Special video doesn't appear, it won't matter. What we care about is you and your family playing with trains. Including Smutpuss of course. Just add Christmas music from Kevin Macleod's channel, it'll still have the feel of Christmas, believe me.
Don't sweat it, the layout looks good. One thing I have seen other modellers do is use a syringe with I think equal parts white glue and water. After spreading the grass via static applicator, the use the syringe. Takes a day or two to dry but does a magnificent job. Platform looks good at the future station.
those platform kits are surprisingly good, used on my N gauge layout, will be used on OO when I get that far amazing how much difference ballast makes too, not sure if you have it lined up, a dark grey wash over can help, nicely thinned paint (oil or acrylic, oil is way cheaper) can give it a bit more depth. looks very good though, envious of lovely long platforms
Have you done your Christmas Shopping yet? That's more important than fiddling about with your model railway. Nothing says merry Christmas more than sharing the holiday with your family, including Smutpuss. It is not the gift but the thought that counts. Don't do anything more with the railway. Christmas Special or none, we love to see you playing trains, because.... We don't care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree. We just want you for our own, More than you could ever know. Make our wish come true, All we want for Christmas is you.
Don't let Alex at the discuss near the static grass applicator!!!!
It's clear to see you're getting nowhere fast. Don't work on anything, you'll put yourself under too much pressure and that's not a good look for you. Just relax, tidy up and run trains, that's what you do best. The Christmas Special doesn't have to be fancy or anything. It can just be you, Smutpuss and steamies in action. Be yourself and slow down. Why not upload the Christmas Special tomorrow, showing yourself playing with trains, and Smutpuss beadily watching for any diesel that dares run under his gaze? Full of festive fun and Christmas Cheer. Merry Christmas to you, your family and Smutpuss.
Course it's not the end!
How unlucky can you get, lol?
Glue all over his fingers. Very Alex at the desk.
Delivered 4 minutes before midnight!
don't have anything similar here, do have a fair few eBay salvage and "I don't know if it works" purchases, so far they are all going. once you open one you find you can, usually, get them back together - eventually
A very nice addition to your fleet. I have a few Mehano TGV trains and they all run very nicely with all-wheel pickup and all-wheel drive. I've thought about one of these US locos before but they all seem to have broken handrails - it seems the handrails are very fragile. I look forward to see what kind of consist you pull with this loco for the Christmas Special! Ben
unlucky with the axlebox, FDM 3d prints are normally pretty robust, unlike the resin ones I tried where failure = scrap it generally. interesting how well these actually turn out when painted do so love superglue, the ability for the stuff to still be liquid the day after applying it and not stick the parts at all yet still able to instantly stick to your fingers is quite clever came out nice overall :)
Take a break and play with trains.
You're the most festive-thumbed person, that's for sure. Those tomato plants fruit better in a greenhouse. I wouldn't put the tomatoes in the freezer, they keep better in the fridge. Beyond Beaglington should be at rest till after New Year. How about giving your wife a Christmas kiss under the mistletoe? It's a Christmas tradition.
Well done!
I think Alex at the desk is after his own channel, You need to stop that behaviour. Maybe Smutpuss can sort him out for you.🤣
You don't need to bake any biscuits, it's easier to buy a packet of them from a food store. Less mess in the kitchen.
The next Delia Smith. Hope you did the clearing up.
I laughed out loud at the beginning - here's a shedload of sugar, next add a teaspoon of water 😀
Why didn't you paint the van dark green and red to give it a Christmassy look? More festive.
ingenious solution to smoothing the roof, IIRC actual vans were a timber roof with a felt covering or painted with something to waterproof so actually worked 1:1 scale as well (don't get me started on holes in coach roofs "fixed" with quality street tins painted over) came out nicely that
An engine always goes slowly over sets of points, to keep derailments to a minimum. Make sure the rails and engines' wheels are kept spotlessly clean, to enable them to run smoothly and last a lifetime. We can't have a railway fire raging out of control before Christmas. Also, an engine backs down on rolling stock slowly and gently. The passengers don't want to end up being bumped or bruised on Christmas Eve, and neither does the Guard. Before any cliff tunnel is set up properly, check the clearance of engines and rolling stock passing through. Purchasing a ready-made tunnel is ideal for this sort of thing, as it gives you an idea of how wide the portals need to be and how high up the roof should be. You don't have to be accurate or realistic.
St Nicholas Day greetings from the Low Countries! It's late morning on December the 6th and you already completed the cliffs in a few hours - I am impressed with the speed of your hands when you're working! It's almost like magic 🧙♂
It seems I’ve missed a lot! It’s so cool to see a new layout taking shape!
Think we need a Health and Safety warning before every Alex at the desk video,
"Warning: Do'n Try This At Home!" xD
Why didn't you paint them in Christmas colours all over? That's easier. About time you added some Christmas rolling stock to your collection. You could have painted Smutpuss' face on one of the vans.
I have some Christmas rolling stock but it's a little early for it still, maybe it'll start to appear soon. I had an idea about how I wanted them to look before I bought them and I'm rather pleased with how they turned out.
