Hi Robbo, with the maggots [and corn] are you fishing dead depth,slightly over or just off the bottom?
Hi Steve, on this occasion I fishing just over depth but because down the edge isn't totally flat my bait can be anywhere from an inch off the bottom to laying on. The best gauge is if you are hitting bites (remember that you'll get plenty of line bites once the fish move in) also, if the fish are hooked in the lip it's a good sign that you've not given them too much slack and you're registering bites as they are happening. Keep ringing the changes/depths until you feel you are being as efficient as possible and you won't go far wrong.
Paste is a wonder bait when you get it right! Lol just seen your hook and the line is coming off the back of the shank. 👍
