      How exciting! I have passed through Sao Miguel. I was on my way to Faial and later 3 other islands. I had a long layover in Sao Miguel, so I went into town to eat and look around. I really enjoyed it there! Make sure you bring sunscreen and a rain jacket. Sometimes the weather is beautiful and then other times it can be rainy/foggy. So, prepare for both. Enjoy your visit! I can't wait to go back for another visit hopefully to see all the islands! June is when I usually visit the Azores too!

    Great explanation of pronunciation…

  • @sr2291
    @sr2291 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The v with the a is spelled viuva and the v with the o is spelled viuvo. (When it is in a handwritten document, the word can be elongated or have spaces between the letters so it can be hard to read.) I have found the non abbreviated word in one of my ancestors marriage records in the parish books. (Sometimes it is abbreviated.) Example: Maria de Jesus viuva Manuel Gomes means Maria de Jesus widow of Manuel Gomes. And of course the word viuvo after a grooms name with his deceased wifes name afterward. Once a brides sister was listed after her name with the word for sister irma there instead of vuiva. It took me a while to figure it out so be careful. If you see a word that is not vuiva or vuivo try to transcribe it and look up the meaning. It may be a sister, brother, aunt or uncle or other person. This is very rare but it does happen. Thank you for creating your channel.

      I bought both books from the Camara Municipal, on Flores. One of the books, they told me is no longer being published, but the other is. You can contact them to see what books they have and see if they can ship them to you. They will only accept cash. They can explain the currency. I know of some people who paid cash in a certain denomination. Here is the website: www.cmlajesdasflores.pt/documentos . You can click to translate the website into English. Also, you will find some of the pages on Ancestry and other websites like that. In addition, there are marriage records available through an eBook via Barnes and Noble: www.barnesandnoble.com/w/casais-das-flores-e-do-corvo-francisco-gomes/1114254163
