DeLorean Stage 2 0-60 Update
This is an update to a previous video where I tested the acceleration of a stage 2 DeLorean. I took the original video down since my test runs had poor starts and the shifts were early, leading to some slower than expected acceleration times. After making some driving improvements, the times from my original video improved and I did not want to risk spreading possible 'fake news' from the original video. That was not my intent.
Please don't take my driving tests as gospel. If you are in the market for a stage 2 upgrade I encourage you to do your own research on acceleration. None of my tools are calibrated and just like the initial stock Delorean DMC-12 0-60 performance reviews, my numbers are all over the place.

Did they bring them Back or is this the past?
@@glennavellino1172 They were there last Wednesday. This was filmed Nov 13, 2024
I feel ripped off, the DeLorean speedometer doesn't even go up to 88MPH?
Should have left the original video up and just uploaded this follow up video separate. Both are great videos
I appreciate it. I wasn’t happy with how I drove the car in that first video. I was babying it too much 😆 and the result was slower times. I feel better about this second round of tests. Maybe I’ll salvage some of the first video driving shots for another video.
Congrats for the great video! It's really well done! I would like to ask you about information on flow capacitor electronics. Do you have an email? or messenger? Thanks in advance
This has to do with Chinese culture. On one hand, they strive to replicate things as accurately as possible, but they always feel the need to tweak them according to their own perspective. That's why you see blue LEDs instead of halogen headlights or larger wheels. The same applies to bttf hot toys figures; for example, the dog looks quite different from reality, and the Marty McFly figure has an Asian touch to the face. They are capable of precision if they choose to, but it's not always in their interest.
Very nice! Incredibly kept! Mine has 86k, even that’s low for an ‘81! My first had 7,500 on the clock. How foolish I was to sell it!
Glad to hear you’re out driving yours and enjoying it! 😎 At least you won’t get the mileage anxiety that comes with the really low mile cars
Indeed
Nicely done! 😎✌️
Thank you!
what an informative video you got here brother!!! Thank you so much for sharing. For someone who just bought the Hot Toys Delorean from Sideshow and by the way I'm very happy with it I'm loving this video. Love to see what they got right and wrong. Again, thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Ever since back to the future came out ive wanted a delorean. One of my bucket list cars
Same! Both the movie and car really had an impact on a lot of us
Love your stuff I just wish delorean where more avalable
Thanks! I’ll try to get you more videos of the car soon! 🙂
so cool!
unfortunatly you talk in Inch .... not précise useless .......... my version print 3D is more acurate : th-cam.com/video/ztzSAmBZ7Ks/w-d-xo.html
Show de bola parabéns
So can it actually go 88mph now?
😂 It always could, just getting there takes time
How do you think the more recent Factory Entertainment compares to the original? Just based on the pictures. NOTE: I'm pretty sure I posted this question yesterday, but I don't see it. I included a link to the Factory Entertainment page for the Flux Capacitor, not sure if maybe that was considered spam. Figured I'd repost, just to get the question in there. If this disappears again then I'll just let it go.
That one looks very good! I just saw a video of it and the light sequence chases accurate, the correct warm lighting, the case is a correct size and color. Looks like they did a very good job on it!
@@DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub Nice, I appreciate your thoughts! I love Back to the Future and have always wanted a good-quality Flux Capacitor replica. Hadn't really searched to deeply for one, though, had I come across the one on eBay from CherokeeJerod I might have gone for it! Lucklily I saw the Factory Entertainment one come up and pre-ordered it immediately. It always looked good to me, but the picture angles are limited and didn't know all the details like you described here. Watching your video, though, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Thanks!
@@HeartlessPhoenix the pictures and videos of it look very accurate. I think you picked a good one and post a comment when you get it to let me know what you think of it!
A man after my own heart.. :)
The actual Delorean needs to be lowered about 2 inches in the front and an inch in the rear.
Totally agree. The stock delorean stance sits very nose high. I had mine lowered a bit so it at least sits level.

The “flux capatchittor”!
😂😂
DeLorean's are cool. We followed one through town in nw PA last summer. First time I'd seen one in real life.
I built one myself that actually works, but I lost it in 1961 at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. I think Pete Best stole it.
When you say you hollowed out the blades, do you mean that you drilled through the blade so the LED is not pressed up against the bade but instead comes through the blade?
That’s correct, I used a dremel with an endmill type bit and worked the backside of the blades down so there would be maybe 1/4 of space between the top of the LEDs and the blades. I could have just spaced the LED board away from the blades but that would also space the center light away and the IR sensor and didn’t want to do that.
Hi there, how easy was it to change the setup of the lights on this particular flux? I have the same flux. Would it also be easy to say swap out the board on the back for a different set of LED’s from a different board with different electronics…. Keep the relays etc just add a different board on the back with different Arduino etc so it works with other props? Thanks
It was a bit time consuming to get the lights closer together since the spacing is built into the electronics board. To do it I had to sort of stair step the LEDs on top of each other with their leads getting progressively longer to reach the connectors. I probably should have documented that process and shared it in the video but that was before I decided to make the channel. If I can find any pictures I took of the process I’ll put them together in a short video. But swapping the boards is another option that I think would have good results.
@@DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub this is very helpful, thank you. Did you drill new holes in the board for the new LED placement so they are closer to relay?
@DeLoreanCorner-vI9ub Great video! I’m curious about this modification. I own the same flux. Did you talk with the seller to see if he’d modify it? I’m afraid I’d mess mine up. Thanks -
Such a shame that the red decals don’t touch the rubber gasket on the replica 😢almost perfect 😊
I totally agree!
Is it easy to change the LEDs chasing on the diamond select version?
Each set of 3 lights is it’s own board. I flipped each board 180 and had to rewire with longer wires for the outer LEDs. If you have some experience soldering it’s a simple mod. 👍
The reason there are differences is that the bttf delorean is an 81 not an 82😊
You forgot to put the front light bar on😂
I left those off to not cover up parts of the car. The video focuses on the differences of the car and not so much the movie props
😎 🎸 🎙️👏👍🏆🥇🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
that is so awesome! i wish someone would make a similar 1:8 version of the Mad Max/Road Warrior "Interceptor"
The interceptor would be cool!
Very cool!
The A-pillar is my biggest pet peeve, glad someone else noticed that as well 👍
Once you see it you can’t unsee it lol
Замечательная машина
Thank you!
Great video on comparing a real DeLorean and the Hot Toys BTTF 2 version . Are you going to do a comparison video between a real one and the Fanhome (formerly Eaglemoss) version? I recently started building the Fanhome BTTF DeLorean.
Thanks! Yes that is planned for an upcoming video. I recently got the fanhome/Eaglemoss delorean and it is very accurate to the car. Will be difficult to nitpick that one!
@@DeLoreanCorner-vl9ub You’re welcome! The Flux Capacitor and Xmas Tree supplied with the part work build are inaccurate to the one on the full sized car. There is a third party Flux and Tree that are accurate.
Yes that’s true! Looking forward to checking out all the details :)
Really great video, pointing out those differences. I’m still eagerly awaiting my Hot Toys DeLorean Time Machine. 🤩 And… in case you missed it: have you seen TOMY’s Kickstarter 1/10th scale DeLorean Time Machine, that is now live? Grab it while you can, it’ll only be available until August 10th, 2023. 🙂 I pledged for one, and I just shared your video with the design team, hoping they’ll do a better job than Hot Toys. 😆😉
Thanks for checking out the video and sharing! Yes I am also a backer on the TOMY project and excited to see what they come up with! Their team sounds very committed to putting out a quality product 👍
Are you going to return it or keep it?
I was on the fence but decided to return it
This was very informative. Thank you for the detailed comparison. I also have the Hot Toys DeLorean and the giant front wheels always irked me.
Thank you! Yes, the wheel size seems like an easy detail they could have got right
This deserves a million views... Well done
