I was a single mom too.

I can't agree with this type of programming. My daughter could read fluently before she turned two. All because of watching us play Scrabble. She picked up the letters very quickly then went on to the three and four letter words. With my help and the neighbours daughter who was in 2nd grade. By the time she turned 3 she was already well advanced. But what shocked me was that despite having a brilliant mind and excellent memory she lost her spontaneity and natural behaviour. Not all of it though. It took a while to get her off this programming condition but I wasn't as successful as I would have liked to be. She did become a farmer. And loves it
